Norma Shearer: The Boss' wife was cast in 'The Divorcee.' Norma Shearer movies on TCM: Early talkies and Best Actress Oscar Note: This Norma Shearer article is currently being revised and expanded. Please Check back later. Norma Shearer, one of the top stars in Hollywood history and known as the Queen of MGM back in the 1930s, is Turner Classic Movies' Star of the Month of Nov. 2015. That's the good news. The not-so-good news is that even though its parent company, Time Warner, owns most of Shearer's movies, TCM isn't airing any premieres. So, if you were expecting to check out a very young Norma Shearer in The Devil's Circus, Upstage, or After Midnight, you're out of luck. (I've seen all three; they're all worth a look.) It's a crime that, music score or no, restored print or no, TCM/Time Warner don't make available for viewing the...

Jonathan Ross reveals he had an altercation with an angry goat in tonight's (March 10) episode of Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled.
Ross explains that he was faced with the unusual situation while visiting a zoo with his young son Harvey.
"This goat ran, hit [Harvey] full in the chest and sent him flying," Ross said. "Before I knew what I had done, I punched that goat and he went right over on his side."
Ross also said that the zoo employees got the wrong idea from his reaction.
He said: "The bloke came over and said, 'Get out of the pen - he's attacking the goats!'
"I said, 'No, no, the goat's attacking the boy'. They weren't interested in Harvey, they thought I was going on some sort of goat rampage."
Germaine Greer, Tom Wrigglesworth and Lucy Beaumont also feature in tonight's episode, where topics range from '60s underground porn,...

Jon Richardson has announced his engagement to fellow comedian Lucy Beaumont.
The 8 Out of 10 Cats star proposed after filming Channel 4's Jon Richardson Grows Up, revealing news of the engagement at the end of last night's episode (September 15).
Speaking on the show about their relationship, Richardson said: "It's odd when we met. You obviously get that instant spark of romance and all that, but then also, with me and Lucy, we were very comfortable together very early."
He continued to say: "I am very lucky. If I'd have read that I met someone and - within a couple of dates - we were going out, and then we went on holiday together, and then she moved in a few months later, I would have scoffed at it."
"Fundamentally I've come back feeling that me and Lucy will probably get married, which - in terms of the view I've held all my life,...

This week's comedy news
Comedian and actor Tim Allen is in a spot of bother this week. Specifically for telling the Tampa Bay Times that he should be able to say the n-word as much as he likes. "If I have no intent, if I show no intent, if I clearly am not a racist, then how can 'nigger' be bad coming out of my mouth?" asked Allen. The comic, who claimed to use the word regularly in his standup, added that "[the phrase] 'the n-word' is worse to me than nigger." African-American commentators politely but firmly disagreed. "Here's a general rule of thumb to follow when using the n-word for white people," said sociologist, author and radio host Michael Eric Dyson on MSNBC: "Never.

Stepping out for another royal affair, Pippa Middleton attended the wedding of Michael Marsham, son of the Earl and Countess of Romney, and Lucy Beaumont, daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Allendale, at Hexham Cathedral on Saturday (April 27).
The sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton looked lovely in a half-sleeve knee-length blue dress with a tiny gray hat perched on her head and matching heels.
Earlier this week, the 29-year-old party planner headed to a charity event at Le Caprice with Tom Kingston.
Following in the footsteps of her royal in-laws, she also focused on service at the Mary Hare School for deaf children in Berkshire that week, where she serves as an ambassador.

Comedians are picking fights this week. Here's Jim Carrey versus the National Rifle Association, in the form of a Funny or Die? video that's got danders up in the Us. It sees Carrey team up with the band Eels on a comic country-and-western number, Cold Dead Hand, mocking Charlton Heston and Us gun-lovers. Backed by a band including John Lennon, Gandhi and Abraham Lincoln (all killed by guns), Carrey's alter ego Lonesome Earl accuses gun enthusiasts of having small penises, and sings: "On the ones who sell the guns/ [God would] set the vultures and coyotes/ Only the devil's true devotees/ Could profiteer from pain and fear."
