If you watch enough procedural dramas, you might believe that every partnership leads to romance. It happened to Richard Castle and Kate Beckett on Castle, Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan on Bones, and even Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon on The Mentalist. A slow-burning romance always makes for a good storyline.
CBS' Blue Bloods, which is now leading viewers to say goodbye to the Reagan family and everyone close to them, is no exception. Jamie Reagan and his wife, Eddie Janko, started out as business partners and ended up as a family. As good as their story was, fans don't want to see a rip-off.
Will Danny and Baez End Up Together?
One thing that eventually kills any procedural that has been on the air for too long is constant repetition. By the time the writers reach a certain point, they feel like they have told every story in the...

There are two types of people who enjoy crime dramas: some prefer their shows to be brooding and dark, the gorier the better, while others tend to enjoy the mystery element mixed with a heartwarming comedy. Elsbeth is a sure-fire hit for the second group, but it's not the only show you might want to check out.
Here are 8 other shows that will give you as much pleasure as Elsbeth without having to wait weeks to see a new episode.
White Collar (2009-2014)
Starring Matt Bomer as charismatic con man Neal Caffrey, the show follows his journey to become a great detective after getting out of prison in exchange for helping the FBI's White Collar Crimes Unit. The show is light-hearted, yet features some of the best crime cases you will ever see on television. Plus, there is a chance that it will get a reboot soon enough!

Actor Nathan Fillion didn’t take long to find work in The Rookie after Castle‘s 2016 cancellation. Looking back on the way the series ended, Fillion might’ve been just as disappointed in it as some of the show’s fans.

Castle had an ending that wasn’t received well by some fans of the show. As viewers might remember, the very ending of the series showed Fillion’s Richard Castle and Stana Katic’s Kate Beckett as a happily married couple with three kids. This might’ve been the trajectory that some figured the show would be headed in. Even Castle itself teased this outcome throughout the series.

Jennifer Garner was known for portraying the superhero Elektra in both Daredevil and her titular film. But before she nabbed the role, Stana Katic had her eyes set on the character as well.

Katic is no stranger to superhero projects. She’s voiced some of comic books’ most iconic characters across a few forms of media. This included playing Talia Al Ghul in the video game Batman: Arkham City, and Wonder Woman in the animated film Justice Society: World War II. She even felt her character in Castle, Kate Beckett, was a superhero in her own right.
“I think she’s like a female superhero on television, and we’re slowly exploring more and more of that,” Katic once told Collider. “She’s got a tremendous amount of integrity. I’ve gotten to do more stunts lately, which is really cool.

Actors Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic were once reportedly at odds with each other on the set of Castle. Neither have corroborated the reports. But if there’s one thing the two actors didn’t see eye-to-eye on, it was the relationship between the characters.

Back in the earlier years of Castle, the series was known to play up the romantic tension between Fillion’s and Katic’s characters. The two led completely different lives before crossing paths. Fillion’s Richard Castle was a crime novelist, whereas Katic’s Kate Beckett was a real-life officer. When Castle started investigating crimes alongside Kate, he sometimes proved to be a valuable asset to the police. This led to Castle gradually earning both the character’s respect and attention over time.

Fillion has been a part of some of television’s most critically praised shows. Before The Rookie, he was known for playing millionaire author Richard Castle in the titular series Castle. Many of Fillion’s former Castle co-stars have made small appearances on The Rookie, from Jon Huertas to Tamala Jones.

"There are two kinds of folks who sit around thinking about how to kill people: psychopaths and mystery writers. I'm the kind that pays better."
And with those words, the ABC series Castle (2009-2016) became one of our favorite shows. It was witty, amusing, and heartfelt. It was a show with a unique talent for making murder fun.
The two lead characters, writer Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, and Detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, had sexual chemistry so hot it could melt your screen.
But the show lost its luster somewhere between the wildly entertaining Castle Season 1 and the slog that was Castle Season 8. It wasn’t one big thing -- well, maybe there was one big thing -- but a lot of little missteps and missed opportunities that disappointed fans over the years.

Nathan Fillion has appeared in two beloved ABC shows — Castle and The Rookie. Castle aired for eight seasons on the network and ended in 2016. The Rookie premiered in 2018 and is in the middle of airing its fifth season. And Fillion is dedicated to paying homage to his previous show in his new one. Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t anticipate one Castle star to appear in The Rookie.

One of the main reasons Castle was so popular during its heyday was because of the “will they/won’t they” slow-burn relationship between Richard Castle and Kate Beckett, played by Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.
Of course, everyone also loved the other side characters, especially Jon Huertas’ Javier Esposito and Seamus Dever’s Kevin Ryan.

Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd had unbeatable chemistry on Moonlighting. In fact, their chemistry could be so volatile the show ultimately could not continue, although the success of Die Hard and other movie offers probably would’ve been an irresistible force for Willis regardless. At least there were five seasons of Moonlighting, all available on DVD and creator Glenn Gordon Caron is working on getting them available on streaming services. Until then, here are 10 other shows to capture the chemistry and comic mystery if you like Moonlighting.

Getting stopped, interrogated, or arrested by cops usually isn't anyone's idea of a good time unless the sheriff's and detectives are like the ones we've seen on television.
You know, the caring ones who look damn good in a uniform. Most of the TV cops on this list solve crimes, take down the bad guys, and keep their fictional towns and cities safe from danger. Not to mention, they'd jump in to protect you without hesitation.
We wouldn't mind getting arrested by these men and women in uniform, just don't get on their bad side unless your goal is to end up in handcuffs.

Emily Byrne is a professional at compartamentalizing and that was on full display on Absentia Season 2 Episode 3.
She had just found out that her biological mother was still alive, only to lose her again after kicking the woman out of her home.

Castle alum Stana Katic, Sarah Megan Thomas (Equity), and Radhika Apte (Padman) are set to star in an untitled female-driven Ww II spy drama set to begin principal photography this spring. Linus Roache (Batman Begins) and Rossif Sutherland (River) also have been cast in the project, based on the real-life spies in Winston Churchill’s “secret army”, from Thomas and Lydia Dean Pilcher (Queen of Katwe).
The film centers on British intelligence officer Vera Atkins, played by Katic, and two of the women she sends to France as spies, Virginia Hall (Thomas) and Noor Inayat Khan (Apte). Atkins is a crafty recruiter with a secret of her own. Hall is a daring American with a wooden leg who was the first female field agent and ultimately the spy the Nazi’s dubbed “the most dangerous of all,” and Khan is a pacifist of Indian descent who was the first female wireless operator.

Spoiler Alert: Stop reading now if you have not yet watched the Castle season four finale. Seriously... Stop!
Okay, phew. That was close.
On "Always," Castle finally went there. Or, should we say, a dripping wet Kate Beckett finally went there, answering the prayers and pleas of millions of Caskett fans. How will this hook up affect season five?
Creator Andrew Marlowe tells Zap2It that there won't be any kind of significant time jump because "I think everybody is going to want to see what the aftermath looks like."
In fact, the Castle producer adds, there may not be any time jump at all: "[Fans] are going to want to see what it looks like when they wake up in the morning. And I think that's a promise that we have to honor."
Don't expect any sudden second-guessing or back-tracking, either. Marlowe sounds all in with the decision it took four seasons to reach.
Okay, phew. That was close.
On "Always," Castle finally went there. Or, should we say, a dripping wet Kate Beckett finally went there, answering the prayers and pleas of millions of Caskett fans. How will this hook up affect season five?

Wow. That pretty much sums up the Season Four finale of Castle. Fans were promised a great hour, and the series absolutely delivered. Now that I have caught my breath, let’s discuss “Always."
There were tears, smiles and one very hot and heavy hookup.
Time To Move On. Alexis graduated high school and delivered a truly beautiful Valedictorian speech. She provided some insight on how, although she is excited to move forward, she is scared to move on. Truer words were never said for how Castle was feeling at the moment.
Twisted Ties. So a homicide that Beckett was assigned to gave her the lead she had been waiting on for a year. After the late Captain Montgomery’s house was broken into, things just didn’t seem right. Files were stolen on his cases and you had to know it was related to the Beckett girls.
Castle pleaded...

It's happened, folks -- after four long seasons of "will they or won't they" sexual tension, Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Det. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) finally acted on their urges and wound up in bed together during the "Castle" Season 4 finale. While legions of Caskett 'shippers perfect their victory dances, creator Andrew Marlowe opens up to Zap2it about the couple's long journey together.
"It's really a nicely passionate scene," Marlowe says of the moment Castle and Becket finally get together. "It's a scene of recognition on both their parts, recognizing the journey that they've been through. We end almost on that note, with a promise to the audience that let's see what happens when they wake up the next day and what this relationship looks like."
No, he won't skip over the good part of the relationship, where Castle and Beckett are learning how to function as a couple.

Murder procedurals Castle and Bones both feature a cop and a best-selling author — or in Bones’ case an anthropologist-turned-novelist — in a partnership that oozes so much sexual tension it can only lead to one thing. With the end of Castle’s fourth season airing tonight, we take a look back at where Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) are in their romantic relationship compared to four years into the Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan (Emily Deschanel) pairing. (Leaving alternate realities and coma dreams out of the picture.)

Has the other shoe dropped on Kate Beckett?
In one of the five clips posted below from Monday's Castle season finale, the beautiful detective thinks back to her shooting, connects it to new information regarding Captain Montgomery and wonders what it all means.
The episode, titled "Always," will bring Beckett closer than ever to the man who gunned her down... while also bringing her closer than ever to Rick? Yes, if certain scenes in this Castle trailer are to be believed.

Castle Sneak Peeks: 4.23 Season 4 Finale "Always"
I don't know about you guys, but I am so ridiculously excited about next week's season finale that I can barely sit still for more than a few minutes. It's not just because it's the finale and, well, we won't have anything new to talk about until September, but it's more about the fact that I am finally happy about my favorite show again.
You all know how much I have complained most of this season (and I know a lot of you kind of dislike me because of it), but it feels that "Always" will put things back on track. I am sure most of you have seen the promo - especially the CTV one released last night that has the fandom in an uproar about one pivotal scene - so I have to warn you, the sneak peeks don't give much away.

Castle will take on zombies next Monday, prior to concluding season four with the focus on a far more pressing topic:
The man who shot Kate Beckett.
That will be the focus of the May 7 finale, "Always," as the death of an Army veteran sends Beckett on pursuit of the assassin who took her down last May. How far will Castle go to keep her safe? What secrets will be revealed? What feelings laid on the table?
ABC has released a number of photos from the finale, which will also feature the return of Judith Scott as Captain Montgomery's wife. Click through them now and let the (hopeful) countdown to Caskett commence...

In "Headhunters," the Monday, April 16, episode of ABC's "Castle," fans of Fox's much-loved but short-lived science-fiction series "Firefly" get to see a bit of a role reversal.
On "Firefly," Nathan Fillion played Captain Mal Reynolds, the swashbuckling, war-hardened commander of a spaceship, and Adam Baldwin played Jayne, a mercenary member of his crew.
But on "Castle," Fillion is Rick Castle, a New York mystery writer moonlighting as a civilian NYPD consultant, and Baldwin guest-stars on Monday as Detective Ethan Slaughter, a swaggering, two-fisted member of the gang unit.
"I just loved the dichotomy," Baldwin tells Zap2it over fish and chips in West Los Angeles, "of being on his show with the character license to play the boss. The character was written such that Slaughter's the boss, and I was able to walk in and go, 'Ok, it's my scene.' Every scene is my scene."

Castle gets some fast talking narrative in the opening to introduce the premise of the show in season 2, narrated by Nathan Fillion, as Castle: "There are two kinds of folk who sit around thinking about how to kill people - psychopaths and mystery writers. I'm the kind that pays to better. Who am I? I'm Richard Castle. Every writer needs inspiration and I 've found mine. Detective Kate Beckett and thanks to my friendship with the Mayor I get to be on her case and together we catch killers." Castle plays Guitar hero and rolls about all over the floor etc, really getting into it, this is how he unwinds, when he's interrupted by a sad Alexis (Molly Quinn). Hayley Blue is dead and Castle thinks if that were true then Beckett (Stana Katic) would call, which she does, as if by magic. Hayley is found in an alley...

Adam Baldwin guest stars on this Monday's new episode of Castle - and while that may be exciting news for fans of Firefly or Chuck, it's less than thrilling for Kate Beckett.
That's because she gets the feeling on "Headhunters" that she's being replaced by Baldwin's Detective Slaughter, a feeling Rick doesn't do a lot to discourage, not when he's still recovering from Beckett's lie over what she heard him say on last season's finale.
Check out two clips from the upcoming episode and then continue to look ahead via these Castle photos, which depict our favorite duo tracking down some seriously unusual (undead?) suspects...

In Hollywood, there is no more dreaded catch phrase than “The Moonlighting Curse.” For those old enough to remember, Moonlighting was the hot comedy-drama of the 1980’s, starring Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis. The show consistently scored high ratings until one disastrous night – its core characters David and Maddie slept together at the end of the show’s third season. After achieving its highest ratings ever, it was all downhill from there – at least in the ratings. It went from 9th place the Nielsen list to 14th place during its next season, and then was cancelled after limping through one more final season. Ever since then, shows that are dependent on the “will they or won’t they” hooks to their premise tend to religiously avoid killing the cash-cow and make sure their hot couples never get together, or to postpone it as long as humanly possible (such as waiting...

When Castle returns from a mini hiatus on April 16, we'll be treated to the appearance of Adam Baldwin as a temporary new partner for Rick.
But TV Line has the scoop on an even more exciting guest star scheduled for the May 7 season finale, mostly due to what it will mean on a grander scale for Kate Beckett.
Castle Promo: "Headhunters"
Judith Scott will reportedly reprise the role of Captain Montgomery's wife on that installment. What is Evelyn doing back in the picture?
Castle creator Andrew Marlowe simply says her presence is related to an ongoing investigation that could be "linked to Beckett's mother murder case." Oh, yes, Marlowe says, the series will pick "at that stab again."
Four new episodes remain this season. Check out the video above for an early look at what's to come and then sound off on this season finale spoiler!

Castle: 4.20 "The Limey" Review
Unlike many episodes in which a third party comes between our dynamic duo, last night’s “The Limey” didn’t cause jealousy for either of them. Instead, it left Detective Kate Beckett heartbroken and Castle acting like a petulant child whom I started to progressively hate over the course of those forty-two minutes.
I admit I was a little reluctant about this episode and not at all excited about the fact that someone would presumably come between Castle and Beckett again, particularly after how last week’s “47 seconds” ended. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The case was alright (although I was more preoccupied with the characters – especially Kate – than the case itself) and I actually liked Mr. Scotland Yard. Of course the fact that he was really easy on the eyes helped, but I liked the way the character was written...

Regular viewers of "Castle" (Mon., 10 p.m. Et on ABC) will remember Richard Castle pouring out his true feelings to Kate Beckett in the Season 3 finale.
At the time she was unconscious after being shot, and he didn't know if she'd pull through.
On Monday night's episode Martha was the voice of reason. She told Castle to go for it and just tell Beckett that he loves her.
"What if she isn't ready?" he asked. "Then she never will be," Martha replied.
Later, Castle watched from behind the two-way mirror as Beckett interrogated a suspect who was pretending to have memory loss.
"Do you want to know trauma?" she asked the suspect. " I was shot in the chest. And I remember every second of it."
Uh oh. As the penny dropped, Castle wondered aloud: "All this time? You remembered?"
Will Castle ever tell Beckett that he loves her while she's...

Castle Photos: Episode 4x20 "The Limey"
I think it is safe to say that, after the Paley Fest Castle panel, a lot of fans are really excited for the April 2 episode, titled "The Limey". I have to say that I wasn't really excited when the plot of this episode was first announced (the whole Scotland Yard guy thing), but after hearing what the cast talked about it and seeing the promotional photos, I am definitely starting to warm up to the idea.
Of course that the fact that Charles Shaughnessy is going to be in this episode on April 1 just made my excitement grow exponentially since I had a huge crush on him growing up - and also that he will forever be Mr. Sheffield in my heart. Ray Richmond contributes to Deadline’s TV coverage. As the ABC dramedy Castle moves toward the conclusion of its fourth season, the question of when lead characters Richard Castle and NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (played by Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, respectively) finally will do the deed took center stage. It was the burning question addressed at tonight’s spirited PaleyFest salute to Castle at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, where creator/exec producer Andrew W. Marlowe was asked to spill the beans on how long the chaste dance toward the bedroom would last. “Do I know when it will happen? Yes,” he replied. “When it does happen, it will open up a lot of different areas in the storytelling. It will be the next evolution in the characters’ relationship.” Marlowe acknowledged that a lot of people believe the characters’ getting together physically could prove a creative kiss of death for the show,...
