Yo, did you hear the good news? Yo Gabba Gabba! is coming back to TV.
A revival of the beloved Nickelodeon kids’ show titled Yo Gabba GabbaLand! will premiere Friday, Aug. 9 on Apple TV+, the streamer announced on Wednesday. The new series brings back original characters Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Toodee and Plex and also introduces a new host: Kammy Kam, played by 12-year-old Kamryn Smith. (The original Yo Gabba Gabba! was hosted by DJ Lance Rock, played by Lance Robertson.)

Música is a “non-musical musical” coming-of-age romantic comedy film co-written and directed by Rudy Mancuso. Based on his personal experiences, the Prime Video film follows the story of a young college student Rudy, who is about to graduate but still doesn’t if he should get a stable job or go after his dream of becoming a puppeteer. He finds himself stuck in a love triangle between his long-time girlfriend who doesn’t understand him and his dreams and a girl he recently met who seems to support his dreams, while also dealing with his overbearing mother who wants him to get himself a Brazilian girlfriend. SXSW 2024 kicked off its first full day of music on March 12 with a smattering of must-see shows around town, plus some tension in the air thanks to the festival’s relationship with the U.S. Army. (When Texas Gov. Greg Abbott chimed in on social media, it was the kind of noise that no one needs.) But now, Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) is giving everyone a run for their money with a new diss of epic proportions. Evoking the literal collapse of modern civilization to drive his point home, the seasoned rapper said that Drizzy’s output is less “hip-hop” and more like shopping at Target.
The comments came during Bey’s recent appearance on the fashion podcast The Cutting Room Floor when host, Recho Omondi, asked point-blank if he considered Drake “hip-hop.” After a pause — and a begrudging “Why are you doing this to me?” — Bey unleashed his opinion: “Drake is pop to me. In the sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song… it feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping.

WME has signed the Estate of Nigerian bandleader, composer, political activist and Afrobeat creator Fela Kuti for management worldwide under its WME Legends division.
WME’s Legends division focuses on estate and legacy brand management with the objective of managing and growing the legacies of artists and brands. Kuti, whose music was celebrated in the 2009-2011 Broadway musical Fela!, died of complications related to AIDS In 1997.

Slasher films are known for their one-liners, both the badass and the embarrassing. Dr. Loomis in the "Halloween" series, Freddy Krueger in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, Ghostface in the numerous "Scream" flicks, Pinhead in the "Hellraiser" films, and just about everything Chucky has ever said throughout his franchise have all birthed quotes as memorable as the characters who say them. More than one year after its release, Black Star have made their long-awaited comeback album, No Fear of Time, available outside of the Luminary podcast network.
Originally released in May 2022 as a Luminary exclusive, No Fear of Time marked the first proper full-length from the duo of Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (f.k.a. Mos Def) in 24 years. It was produced entirely by their frequent collaborator Madlib.

Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival is back. For the first time since 2019, the music event will return with a new lineup of performers — but it’s keeping its location at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. Camp Flog Gnaw has always taken place far outside of the normal date range of music’s summer festival season. For 2023, the carnival is scheduled for Nov. 11 and 12.

Gorillaz have announced a short run of shows in the U.S., which will take place in September. Kaytranada, Lil Yachty, and Remi Wolf will support all dates. NBC announced the details for the next three “Saturday Night Live” episodes on Thursday evening. As previously revealed, Woody Harrelson will guest host on February 25 with musical guest Jack White. Harrelson will be joining the “SNL” five-timers club since he has previously hosted four times in 1989, 1992, 2014 and 2019.

Darren Aronofsky's new film "The Whale" is, at best, a mixed bag. Based on the play by Samuel D. Hunter, who also wrote the screenplay, "The Whale" tells the story of Charlie (Brendan Fraser) who teaches creative writing remotely, and who has been grappling with severe depression and self-loathing. Charlie's true love, a man named Alan, had recently taken his own life, leaving Charlie alone and emotionally devastated. Both Charlie and Alan had been targeted by a local homophobic Christian sect as objects of potential "redemption," showing that the two men lived in a dark, bigoted world. Charlie has come to hate himself so much after Alan's death that he willfully accepts the horrendous abuse doled out by his long-estranged and explicitly villainous teenage daughter (Sadie Sink). "The Whale" is a sad film about Charlie's depression and how it has manifested in his own low sense of self-worth.

Dave Chappelle hit the Studio 8H stage over the weekend for his third time as “Saturday Night Live” host, and tackled one of the hot button issues to captivate the nation in recent weeks — Kanye “Ye” West’s antisemitism controversy.
“Before I start tonight, I just wanted to read a brief statement that I prepared,” Chappelle said as he took the stage, leading some to believe it would be a statement about his own controversial remarks regarding transgender people, which led to protests and public outcry.

Dave Chappelle will be returning to Rockefeller Center’s Studio 8H this weekend to host “Saturday Night Live”, marking the comedian’s third time as host.
In a trio of new promos, Chappelle is joined by “SNL” cast member Ego Nwodim and the episode’s musical guest, rap duo Black Star.
In the first promo, Nwodim attempts to “tag along” with Chappelle for Thanksgiving with his family, while the second promo finds Chappelle making a declaration.
