- Ex-civil servant, who started writing in his spare time and staged his first play in 1923. He later formed a seminal screenwriting partnership with Jean Aurenche, which endured until 1973. The pair became especially noted for their literary adaptations of subjects directed by Claude Autant-Lara and 'Rene Clement'. Bost was also active as editor for several French magazines.
