When we think of the iconic portrayal of Dr. Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), one name instantly springs to mind: Alfred Molina. The latter’s performance as the villainous Doc Ock is widely considered to be among the finest performances of the entire Spider-Man film franchise.
But what if we told you that the London-born actor, 70, might not have even been a part of the film without the crucial role of Raimi’s wife, Gillian Greene? Can you think of anyone else who could portray the multifaceted villain with such finesse?
Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus in Spider-Man 2
While Molina is a seasoned and talented actor with an impressive résumé, it was Greene’s keen eye behind the scenes that ultimately led to Molina’s casting as Otto Octavius.

Earlier this month, members of the Screen Actors Guild voted to authorize a strike if their negotiating committee doesn’t reach an agreement on a new contract with major Hollywood studios by June 30. SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher released a video message this week with an update on the negotiations, telling members, “We are having an [sic] extremely productive negotiations that are laser focused on all of the crucial issues you told us are most important to you. We’re standing strong and we are going to achieve a seminal deal.”

The Big Bang Theory is one of the most famous and iconic modern-day sitcoms.
Sprawling Twelve Seasons, the series followed a group of brainiac friends and their exploits in love, life, and the search for knowledge.
The show garnered ten Emmy awards, four of which went to lead actor Jim Parsons, yet the show never nabbed the Best Comedy award.
The series has also spawned a spinoff series, Young Sheldon. Another spinoff series is in the works at Max, but the plot is unknown at this time.
While the series creator, Chuck Lorre, has continuous success with sitcoms on CBS, what has the main cast done? Find out below!
John Ross Bowie - Barry Kripke
Barry Kripke, a rival of Sheldon's and an overall annoying character, was played brilliantly by John Ross Bowie.
During his extended guest stint on The Big Bang Theory, he starred in the sitcom Speechless, starring Minni Driver.

Generation (Genera+ion), the HBO Max original, has gotten picked up by Tubi and all 16 episodes of the series are now available. Watch a trailer of the first and only season in the video posted above.
Created by Zelda Barnza and Daniel Barnz, Generation centers on a diverse group of high school students whose fearless exploration of identity and sexuality challenges the antiquated social norms embedded in their conservative community. As they navigate the intricacies of growing up with the help (and hindrance) of their ever-present devices and social media, they lean on one another to cultivate unique voices and stamp their individuality on the world around them.
Generation was short-lived on the Warner Bros. Discovery streamer and although it was full of rich characters with plenty to explore for a second season, it was canceled after its first season. The show was recently removed from HBO Max as Wbd...

Self-assured vigilante Robyn McCall is usually rescuing others. But at the start of season three of The Equalizer, which premiered Sunday on CBS, our hero is in need of potentially life-saving assistance.
At the end of last season’s finale, Robyn was kidnapped from her vehicle in front of Aunt Vi and Delilah. Her assailants were presumably affiliated with Mason Quinn, whom Robyn was obsessively hunting after the terrorist murdered William Bishop (played by Chris Noth), her former superior and friend.

CBS’ So Help Me Todd, perhaps better thought of as Take Your Hot Son to Work, is the story of a private investigator forced to investigate the most private thing of all — his relationship with his mother.
When we meet Skylar Astin‘s titular sleuth in Thursday’s premiere, he’s busting a woman in the middle of a grocery store for collecting disability despite having healed from an injury she suffered while working at an airport. The sight of her children is too much for Todd to handle, so he agrees to delete his proof if she promises to go back to work.

Young Sheldon‘s Season 6 premiere delivered an unexpected callback to a classic Big Bang Theory scene.
When the Coopers arrived for Sunday service, judgmental stares from fellow congregants, still up in arms about 17-year-old Georgie impregnating 29-year-old Mandy, propelled Mary to sit as far back as possible — much to Sheldon’s chagrin. When Missy asked her brother what was wrong, he answered, “We’re nowhere near the acoustic sweet spot.”

(Editor’s note: The following review contains spoilers for Season 2 of “Feel Good,” including the ending.)
It’s no secret that comedians are some of the world’s most traumatized people, perhaps rivaled only by queers. Humor as a coping mechanism for trauma is a tale as old as time, and all it takes is a quick glance at any decent comedy lineup to see that the cool queer kids practically rule stand-up these days. It stands to reason that Mae Martin, a queer comedian, would have some funny things to say about trauma. Which, as their fictional agent says in Season 2 of “Feel Good,” Martin’s semi-autobiographical dark romantic comedy on Netflix, is all the rage these days.
Of course, simply being queer and a comedian doesn’t magically confer greatness. Much more important than any label one could foist upon Martin is the fact that they’re both brilliantly funny and courageously honest,...

When Netflix got into the original programming business, it presented itself as a safe space for cancellation-scarred viewers. Netflix shows wouldn’t necessarily run forever, but their creators would at least be given warning to wrap up the story. Eventually, though, the almighty algorithm decreed that long runs were a bad thing — particularly the ones that weren’t aiming for a Stranger Things-sized audience — and the streamer forced many shows to wind down with a third season. And now, we’re in a moment where Netflix has begun abruptly...

Every new teen drama wants to be the one that actually, finally Gets It. They can range from the extremely earnest to the flashy and forbidden, but all strive to capture that vulnerable slice of life between childhood and adulthood when everything burns a little too bright, a little too quickly.
“Generation” — aka “Genera+ion,” with a plus sign instead of a plain ol’ “t” as a nod to the + in LGBTQ+ — is TV’s latest stab at honestly portraying teenagers. Premiering March 11 on HBO Max, the series at least has the distinction of being co-created by a particularly unusual team: Zelda Barnz, a teenager herself at 19, and her father, Daniel Barnz, who also directs. Together, they’ve made a frenetic show about Gen Z that aims for something between Gen X’s “Freaks and Geeks” and millennial cornerstone “Skins,” though without the shaggy charm and piercing twists that respectively made those series so compelling.

John Ross Bowie is the kind of guy you know but you don’t know that you know. His name is not quite on the Brad Pitt level, but his face is instantly recognizable if you know anything about “The Big Bang Theory,” and all that goes on with the hit show. He’s one of the characters on the show who makes you laugh every week, which means you know his face well. He’s Barry Kripke, and he’s funny. He’s also a man who has a wife and some kids, and he has a whole life outside of his acting work

Jamie Denbo and John Ross Bowie aren't splashed across the covers of gossip magazines like other Hollywood couples, but the duo — both writers and actors who met studying improv in the late '90s at Upright Citizens Brigade — have been working steadily in Hollywood for the better part of two decades.
"We know so many more successful married couples in Hollywood, like Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell and so many other people," Denbo told The Hollywood Reporter during a joint conversation with Bowie ahead of the launch of her new Lifetime series American Princess.

There hasn't been a sitcom finale in a long time viewed with as much anticipation as the double-sized whammy of The Big Bang Theory Season 12 Episode 23 and The Big Bang Theory Season 12 Episode 24.
It's been Twelve seasons since we all started out in that "hot, dense state" before four scientists in Pasadena won our hearts and mainstreamed geek culture into acceptance.
This episode was clearly a love letter to the fans, no more apparent than in that kick-ass clips synopsis of twelve years that played at the very start, much like the McU films' iconic opening credits.
In a truly meta twist, the nail-biting anticipation for the finale was echoed in Sheldon, Amy, Leonard, and Penny awaiting the call from the Nobel Committee.
Sheldon: The only drug I need is the endorphins pumping through my brain in anticipation of our victory.
Amy: Well, technically, anticipation wouldn't be mediated by endorphins as much as dopamine but,...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Big Bang Theory” series finale, Season 12, Episode 23, “The Change Constant,” and Episode 24, “The Stockholm Syndrome.”]
The series finale of “The Big Bang Theory” was everything the show did well, and a bit of what it did poorly, wrapped into one hourlong package. It didn’t try to do too much or too little. It didn’t buck expectations, shift formats, or try to set a new standard for series finales. It really wasn’t surprising or all that ambitious, but then again, neither was “The Big Bang Theory.” If anything, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady’s goodbye to normcore geek culture went out of its way to avoid changing much of anything, despite spending its first half learning to accept the inevitability of change as a universal constant.
Cynics may say these choices were made to preserve any chance of a revival. In 10 years, when the cast’s second...

The cancellation of Speechless was a “gut wrenching” decision for ABC boss Karey Burke.
The ABC Entertainment president revealed that it was a tough decision that caused a lot of “anguish” and also hit hard given that creator and exec producer Scott Silveri is a former producing partner of hers.
“There was a lot of anguish for me and all of us at ABC. We love Speechless, it was a very tough decision. Scott Silveri is a former producing partner of mine and it was not without great gut wrenching consideration that we ultimately made that call. We looked at a lot of factors and ultimately it came down to numbers and feeling like we could shore up the night more strongly with Fresh Off The Boat,” she said at Disney’s press upfronts.

The bloodbath at ABC continues!
Comedies Speechless and Splitting Up Together are the latest cancellations at the Alphabet network, it has been announced.
Speechless lasted three seasons before the plug was pulled. Moving to a new night this season, it tumbled almost 60 percent in the demo.
In live + same day metrics, it is averaged 2.3 million viewers and a 0.5 rating. It did get a minor bump with delayed viewing factored in.
Related: The Cool Kids Canceled at Fox
It was ABC's least-watched scripted series, so the cancellation is not completely surprising. ABC did own the show, so many thought it stood a decent shot at being renewed.
However, it seems the network is going in a different direction.
Speechless starred Minnie Driver, John Ross Bowie, Cedric Yarbrough, Mason Cook, Micah Fowler, and Kyla Kenedy.
As for Splitting Up Together, the rom-com was not owned by ABC and was pulling in anemic ratings all season long.

“Well now listen,” Driver tweeted this afternoon after ABC announced the show would not be back after Season 3. “Speechless has been cancelled and it feels rather sad. However, I truly believe we have left this conversation about family, disability and love in a better place than we found it. Shortly after news of the show’s axing broke on Friday, the ABC comedy’s leading lady issued a brief statement on Twitter. “Speechless has been cancelled and it feels rather sad,” she initially conceded, before adding, “However, I truly believe we have left this conversation about family, disability and love in a better place than we found it. I love all the people I worked with on it, and all of you who loved our show, too.”
Well now listen.

ABC has silenced Speechless, canceling the comedy after three seasons, TVLine has confirmed. The short-lived series followed the everyday exploits of the Dimeo family — most notably J.J., a sharp-witted teenager living with cerebral palsy.
Speechless starred Minnie Driver as high-strung mom Maya, John Ross Bowie as fun-loving dad Jimmy Sr., Mason Cook as middle child Ray, Kyla Kenedy as prank-loving youngest child Dylan and, of course, Micah Fowler as J.J. The cast also included Cedric Yarbrough as J.J.’s “voice,” Kenneth Clements. [Update: Driver reacts to cancellation.]

ABC has rendered Speechless silent today with the Minnie Driver-led series canceled after three seasons. The cancellation is not a surprise, given that Speechless was ABC’s lowest-rated series.
Co-produced by now corporate siblings 20th Century Fox TV and ABC Studios, Speechless starred Driver and John Ross Bowie as the parents of Jj (Micah Fowler), who has cerebral palsy, and his siblings Dylan (Kyla Kennedy) and Ray (Mason Cook). Cedric Yarbrough also starred as Jj’s aide, who serves as his voice.
“It’s telling a story that hasn’t been told on television before,” Driver said during its first panel at Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys a couple years ago. “You genuinely get the after-school special treatment with disability, and that’s not accurate and also annoying. … All of those that feel excluded would like to feel included, and I think the show’s laughter will make you feel included.

“Speechless” has been canceled after three seasons at ABC.
The single-camera comedy centered on the middle class Dimeo family. Maya Dimeo (Minnie Driver) is a mother who will do anything for her children, especially eldest son Jj (Micah Fowler), who has cerebral palsy. Although she is attempting to get her own business of accessible clothing off the ground, she is also deeply focused on Jj’s future, as he graduated from high school in the third season finale and wants to pursue film school.
In addition to Driver and Fowler, “Speechless” starred Cedric Yarbrough, John Ross Bowie, Mason Cook and Kyla Kenedy. Scott Silveri created the series and served as showrunner; Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar also executive produced. The series was produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC Studios.
