“Pieces” (Mil Gritos Tiene La Noche) 1982 Directed by Juan Piquer Simón, Starring Jack Taylor, Christopher George, Lynda Day George, Frank Braña and Paul Smith. Arrow 3 disc Blu-ray, DVD and CD.
Arrow continue to satisfy our hunger for classic slasher movies with their latest release "Pieces" (1982), a classic slice of sickening nostalgia which emerged during the height of the video nasty era.
A Boston college campus is being terrorised by a black-clad maniac who collects body parts from his unfortunate co-ed victims. As the corpses (and red herrings) begin to pile up, can Professor Brown (genre veteran Jack Taylor) unmask the murderer before his morbid puzzle is complete?
Fans of the genre should be incredibly pleased with the treatment given to this three disc collector’s edition. Let’s be clear from the outset, “Pieces” is not the best directed movie you’ll ever see. Director Juan Piquer Simón,...

Pieces is one of those movies that horror fans instantly fall in love with. While some would write it off as just another bad movie, others will love those moments of unintentional humour, especially from the dubbed version. This is what makes the Arrow Video Pieces: Limited Edition release on Blu-ray so much fun.
When a murderer stars killing off female students on a Boston college campus, the bodies soon start piling up. With body parts missing it seems that the killer is putting forming an interesting puzzle, but can they be stopped before they complete their work?
With a killer that is straight out of the Giallo genre, but a chainsaw that brings even more gore,...

This one’s going to be a cake walk, creeps: two vintage 80s slasher flicks and some Vincent Price. Sometimes ancient talismans procured in questionable eBay lots really do work as advertised!

Pieces had a weird effect on me when I first saw it. I remember thinkin’ it was one of the greatest slasher films I’d e’er slapped my eerie eyeballs upon, as it pretty much had everything that makes the genre so outrageous, only amped up to the nth degree. I also remember thinkin’ “Man, I need to own this film right away; it’s the bat’s knees!” I then sat down, ate a slice of pizza (maybe it was a sandwich…...

Not only did the Amando de Ossorio-directed 1971 flick Tombs of the Blind Dead kickstart a boom of Spanish horror films, but it also served as the starting off point for an entire franchise, collectively known as the Blind Dead series.
Now, courtesy of Blue Undergound, the entire quadrilogy is coming home! Read on for plot crunches and full release details for the 'The Complete Blind Dead Saga,' which is a must-own for fans of zombie cinema. Look for it on July 29th!
Tombs of the Blind Dead Synopsis
In 1971, director Amando de Ossorio created what horror fans worldwide consider to be Spain’s Night Of The Living Dead. In Ossorio’s nightmare vision, a legion of Knights Templar – executed horsemen whose eyes had been pecked out by crows – rise rotting from their graves, hunting only by sound in a quest for human flesh. The Blind Dead saga begins here,...

Back in 2005, Blue Underground released a limited edition box set of The Blind Dead films, but they’ve just announced that they will be re-releasing the movies as a 4-disc DVD set on July 29th:
“They are called The Blind Dead, heretic horsemen whose eyes were burned out to prevent them from finding their way back from Hell. Over the course of 4 unforgettable films, writer/director Amando de Ossorio created what fright fans worldwide consider to be one of the most startling series in horror history. This unique quartet of shockers delivers a relentless onslaught of creepy atmosphere, shocking violence, forbidden sexuality, and the still-chilling icons of EuroHorror: The eyeless undead who hunt by sound in their quest for human flesh. Don’t move… don’t breathe… don’t let them hear your heart beating: The Blind Dead are back!
Blue Underground is proud to present the Definitive Editions of these four long-unseen classics,...

How many times have you watched a character on a TV show and thought ‘wouldn’t it be great if they met a character from another, completely unrelated TV show?’. Whether it’s shared personality traits or interests or just because you would love to watch the conflict of two (or more characters) coming face to face, there are reasons why some characters just have to meet.
99.99% of the time such encounters would never happen. Different networks, different writers, different universes…there are numerous reasons why shows don’t cross over, nearly all them of practical. Which makes those rare moments where TV shows acknowledge a shared universe, and characters do hop over from one show to another, absolutely magical.
Gill Grisson of CSI and Without A Trace’s Jack Malone working together in each other’s respective cities. Mulder and Scully of The X Files investigating alien encounters in The Simpsons or better still,...

The best soundtracks of 2010 are somewhat varied and random. Not always does a great film produce great music and sometimes a horrible film can have decent music, there is no pattern. Thus, I have made my own very subjective selective pattern. Using my main theory that a soundtrack is best when it reflects and capitalizes on the moments and story of the film and weaker when its motive is good music placed thoughtlessly in scenes, each inclusion still has its own exceptions. For instance, monotony is not a highly praised quality, but see how many Brian Eno and Broken Social Scene tracks are present on this list! So read, enjoy, agree or disagree because it is all in good fun.
10. It’s Kind of a Funny Story
Though I am generally disappointed that the Broken Social Scene score was not included anywhere on the soundtrack, the remaining inclusions of Bss...

Pieces was the first “No One Under 17 Admitted” movie I ever saw back in my burgeoning horror-lovin’ youth without an older friend to help me through the doors. The additional sign over the box office reading “If You’re Not 17, You’re Not Getting In!” seemed to pose an additional challenge to my friend and I—neither one of us close to that magic age—but we paid our admissions and made it inside easily.
Then the box-office guy called out, “Hold on, you two!” and we were sure we were busted. It turned out, though, that he just wanted to be sure we had our tickets; we acknowledged that we did, he told us thanks and we scurried up the escalator before he could think again about it. So happy were we to have broached the domain of the age-forbidden that we each bought a huge tub of popcorn...
