Rita Wilson has teamed up with Leslie Odom Jr. for an emotive cover of the Bee Gees’ 1968 song “Massachusetts.” Produced by Wilson and Matt Rollings, the new rendition sees the pair trading vocals on the mournful ballad.
“The Bee Gees’ songs are so beautiful, and I had never heard ‘Massachusetts’ as a duet,” Wilson explained in a statement. “I like the idea that these lovers had to split up for a while, go their own ways, and then eventually come back home to Massachusetts.”

Over the past three decades, Naughty By Nature’s Vin Rock has heard everyone from toddlers in South Africa to basketball arenas packed with New Kids on the Block fans perform his group’s 1992 anthem “Hip Hop Hooray.” But even he was surprised last month when he saw Rita Wilson post an Instagram video of her take on the song while she and her husband, Tom Hanks, recovered in quarantine from Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Salt-n-Pepa reflect on how roller rinks fostered the development of hip-hop in the new trailer for HBO’s United Skates, the John Legend-produced documentary film premiering February 18th at 8 p.m. Et/Pt. “It was a place where, the streets, everybody met up,” says Sandra “Pepa” Denton.
The clip touches on how skating has served as a crucial part of African-American culture. In interviews, rink owners reflect on how the movement spread across the country, spawning an entire subculture and dance-driven art form — but they recall the racial politics...

Long before the tragic murders that shattered their peace occurred, Deborah and Dy-Shawn Simpkins were committed to providing kids with alternatives to street violence via their after-school and day care programs.
For over 15 years the couple has supported upwards of 650 youth through these services. Despite their devoted efforts, a senseless act of violence took the lives of their own son, Dy-Shawn Simpkins Jr., 18, along with their nephew Kee-Ayre Griffin, 29, who were killed in a triple shooting in East Orange. The senseless murders interrupted the promising lives of Simpkins, Jr — with his athletic career at Norfolk State University; and of Griffin — a former student athlete at Temple University.
Now everyone is asked to participate in a march with the core message — the Love and Not Hate March & Movement. Organized by Simpkins’s own nonprofit of seven years, the Gap Program (Gang Alternative Program), and other nonprofits collectively known as Community United As One.

When people discuss the best rap groups of all time, they usually bring up a handful of early adopters (Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Sugarhill Gang), some true gate-crashing visionaries (Run-dmc, Public Enemy) and a convention-defying collective or two (Wu-Tang Clan, Ofwgkta). Rarely do they bring up Naughty By Nature, but the group totally deserves a mention among the rest of those names. Like the game-changers of the late '80s, Naughty By Nature managed to wed the worlds of hardcore rap and pop music for a fusion that became the absolute standard for rap music moving forward. Along the way, they notched a healthy roster of mainstream hits, and on this day in 1993, they released their second album 19 Naughty III, as strong a hip-hop album as you could find in the pre-Puffy '90s.

The 17th annual Slamdance Film Festival is all set to run for eight days and nights Jan. 21-27. The festival is featuring a bold theme this year of “All Is Not Lost” where — due to the current devastating economic climate — Slamdance will donate 10% of ticket proceeds back to the filmmakers.
The fest is screening 14 feature films — 10 of which are in competition — and 8 feature documentaries, all of which are in competition. In addition, there will be 56 short films screening.
Plus, there are a couple of special screenings, including the Straight 8 event where anybody can register to receive a single roll of Super-8 film that they can use to direct their own in-camera edited mini-masterpiece. Also, on the 26th, there will be a special retrospective of the works of renegade ’60s filmmaker J.X. Williams.
The full film lineup is below, but for more information on the site please visit the official Slamdance website.

The 'Jersey Shore' star taught the talk show host about her housemates' lingo.

Snooki, dressed in a sparkly little dress, sat down with David Letterman on Tuesday night to school the veteran late-night host in all things "Jersey Shore" — particularly the ins and outs of the show's lingo.
"We pretty much wake up around 12 o'clock in the afternoon, dillydally a little bit, [then] we hit our Gtl," she said, explaining the group's daily routine. She quickly clarified the meaning of that acronym for Letterman: "Gym, tan, laundry; it's essential! And then [we] get ready for the night. We start drinking Ron Ron Juice around 8 o'clock."
Ron Ron Juice, for those who don't know, is the signature cocktail of Snooki's "Shore" castmate Ronnie. Snooki kindly explained its recipe: "Ron Ron Juice, it messes you up," she shared.

VH1 TV Shows | Music Videos | Celebrity Photos | News & Gossip After a triumphant, transcendant, and tranny-free episode of Jersey Shore aired on Thursday night — some say the best episode of the show’s relatively lackluster second season — we found ourselves once again watching our fair guidos stumbling in their attempts to conquer M.I.A. last night. With the exception of Angelina and DJ Pauly D, everyone seems to be down on their luck: After failing to convert in the bedroom, The Situation was left in the unenviable position of eating an early morning egg sandwich while watching Pauly D romp in the sack not five feet away from him; Snooki got bonked in the schnozz with an errant volleyball; the Vin Man got stood up; Sammi Sweetheart, Ron Ron and J-woww barely left their bedrooms. Fortunately, Vinny’s Uncle Nino showed up on the scene to contribute some My Blue Heaven-esque nyuk nyuk moments,...

At the beginning of the '90s, hip-hop was in a state of flux. New forms were starting to emerge, like the Native Tongues-style rap and the continued refinement of gangsta. More and more artists were beginning to infiltrate the pop world as well. Consider Naughty by Nature, who dropped their self-titled second album on this day in 1991.
Technically, Naughty by Nature was the first album credited to the group of the same name, but Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee had already put out an album called Independent Leaders under the name New Style in 1989. After scoring a minor hit with "Scuffin' Those Knees," they caught the attention of fellow New Jersey native Queen Latifah, who took them under her wing.
Naughty by Nature struck an impressive balance between pop-friendly sensibilities and hardcore lyricism. An Mc's Mc, Treach was able to shift his character from friendly party-starter to...

The first season of Jersey Shore was, by all accounts, one of the best single seasons in the long and not-so-illustrious history of reality television. Everything about the show — the wildly charismatic cast, the trashtastic locations, the instantly iconic catchphrases — embodied the very concept of catching lightning in a bottle. So when MTV decided to move the cast down to Miami Beach for the show’s second season, the question on everyone’s minds was simple: Would they be able to recreate the magic of that first, gloriously trashy summer in Sleazeside Heights? Well, after watching the first episode of the show on MTV last night, the answer is … maybe? It’s tough to tell, seeing as how most of the episode was filled with expository slog; we had to wait until the show’s 34th minute to see all of the roommates reunited. Also, we were a bit disappointed...

Big Brother invited the Housemates to lunch, where a delicious beef roast with all the trimmings was been served.
After enjoying their lunch however, Housemates discovered a coloured ‘X’ under the food which has been stuck down onto each plate. These X’s represents the three teams that the Housemates will be divided into – Green, Blue or Red.
The teams were divided as follows:
