A British writer and editor who often published under the names
Jonathan Burke and Robert Miall (but on one occasion used the name Joanna Jones), he became active in science fiction
fandom in the 1930s, and went on to edit horror anthologies and to
novelize film and television productions. He wrote the novelizations,
for example, of
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965) and
Moon Zero Two (1969). His first novel, published under
the name of J. F. Burke, was 1949's Swift Summer.
