Gilmore Girls gave Paris Geller (Liza Weil) many a boyfriend over the course of seven seasons. Jamie was the boyfriend to whom she lost her virginity. Brandon Barash played Jamie and revealed the unusual inspiration for his character. Barash said Gilmore Girls told him to play Jamie as a “young Bill Clinton.”

Barash was a guest on Scott Patterson’s I Am All In podcast April 27. He explained how former President Clinton influenced his portrayal of Jamie.

Paris meets Jamie in Washington, D.C. over the summer. Jamie goes to Princeton and they meet at a student government program before he becomes Paris’s boyfriend. Clinton went to Georgetown himself, but the political aspect wasn’t too big of a stretch. Of course, Gilmore Girls came after Clinton’s scandals in the ‘90s.

Jill Brennan-Lincoln is one of the rare Gilmore Girls actors who played more than one role on the show. Brennan played the teacher, Mrs. Traister, in the pilot. Later, she played Carrie Duncan. Brennan-Lincoln was surprised to be called back for a different role, but even more surprised by her wardrobe malfunction in her first Gilmore Girls audition.

Gilmore Girls was one of Chad Michael Murray’s first acting roles. Murray played Tristin Dugray, who dated both Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and Paris Geller (Liza Weil), two Gilmore Girls regulars. Tristin would depart when Murray moved on to Dawson’s Creek, but he still remembers feeling out of his depth with Weil.

Murray was a guest on Scott Patterson’s I Am All In podcast on Dec. 14, 2021 to discuss his time on Gilmore Girls. When Patterson asked him about working with Weil, Murray admitted he felt intimidated.

By the time she played Paris, Weil had already been acting since the mid-90s. Newbie Murray could tell he was working with someone with experience. Tristan and Paris were supposed to have known each other since childhood, but Murray felt like he was thrown in the deep end.

Gilmore Girls made many friends behind the scenes in Stars Hollow. It’s clear Scott Patterson still hangs out with Sean Gunn, since Gunn is a regular guest on his podcast. Patterson seems to have remained close with Lauren Graham, too. Guest star John Cabrera made lifelong friends on Gilmore Girls too. One of his three closest co-stars is Hep Alien bandmate Sebastian Bach!

Gilmore Girls was famous for being letter perfect with Amy Sherman-Palladino’s scripts. New actors had to learn to deliver the lines fast, and they couldn’t change a thing. For the series regulars, that meant a lot of memorization every week, but they knew the rules. Jason Kravits stepped in it his very first take as Dwight.

Dwight was only in one episode, but he appeared on Scott Patterson’s I Am All In on May 13 to discuss it. Kravits told Patterson the very familiar story of a Gilmore Girls guest star who had to be schooled in the Sherman-Palladino way.

GIlmore Girls was always a breezy comedy drama, but some comedic moments stand out. Kirk Gleason (Sean Gunn)’s student film was one of those moments, but that was news to Mary Lynn Rajskub. Rajskub played the Girlfriend in Kirk’s film. She would show up again in season 6 as another Troubadour in Stars Hollow, but she just found out how monumental Kirk’s film was last year.
Rajskub was a guest on Scott Patterson’s I Am All In Podcast on March 9, 2022. When Patterson asked her about the monumental A Film by Kirk, Rajskub had no idea fans loved it so much.
Mary Lynn Rajskub asks why ‘A Film by Kirk’ is a ‘Gilmore Girls’ favorite?
A Film By Kirk was one of Patterson’s first questions to Rajskub. She was a bit taken aback that her brief Gilmore Girls cameo was so belovedly remembered.

Gilmore Girls got seven seasons out of Lorelai (Lauren Graham)’s relationships. Fans may have hoped she’d settle down sooner, but then the show would’ve been over. This kept Scott Patterson employed as Luke, too. Now that Patterson is rewatching the show, by season 4 he’s got some thoughts on Lorelai.
Patterson answered listener questions on the Feb. 22 episode of his I Am All In podcast. When listeners asked him to weigh in on Lorelai’s personality as of season 4, Patterson had some thoughts.
Lorelai’s major ‘Gilmore Girls’ flaws are her blind spots
Patterson didn’t watch Gilmore Girls while it was on because he was too busy memorizing his lines each week. Now that he sees it all in context, he can analyze Lorelai’s personality.
“Major flaws, I think, are just sort of there’s kind of a lack of self-knowledge,” Patterson said on I Am All In.

When she joined the cast of Gilmore Girls, Tricia O’Kelley knew she wasn’t the heroine. As Nicole Leahy, O’Kelley knew she was there to stand in between Luke (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham). Still, she apparently needed direction. Sean Gunn was on 137 episodes of Gilmore Girls and returned for A Year in the Life. Bryan Singer, perhaps best known as the director of four X-Men movies, is teaming up with a nascent digital media company that has shown an eagerness to pick up splashy projects. Singer’s Bad Hat Harry studio will produce August One, an alternate-history thriller from creator John Cabrera that will be distributed through Blackpills.
August One is set in a world in which the Roman Empire never collapsed. The premise will be the basis for a dystopian sci-fi story, which will allow Cabrera to work in a genre he is very familiar with. In 2012, he co-created H+: The Digital Series, a sci-fi thriller that ultimately snagged two trophies at the 3rd Streamy Awards. Singer served as the producer of that series as well.

There's been a flurry of "Gilmore Girls" activity in recent days, with confirmations that a bunch of original cast members will be back for the revival, including all three of Rory's (Alexis Bledel) former boyfriends. Now, two more memorable men are joining the fold.
First comes word from the Gilmore Guys podcast that Danny Strong will be reprising his role as Doyle, the neurotic editor-in-chief of the Yale Daily News and soulmate of Paris (Liza Weil). Strong has gone on to great success since he left "Gilmore," as the co-creator of "Empire" and the screenwriter of hit films including "The Butler." Weil previously confirmed her involvement in the revival, revealing that she'd star in two of the four 90-minute installments; we'd imagine that Paris and Doyle are probably married with several kids by now, and Strong will most likely appear alongside her in those two episodes.

Yusef Lateef, who died on Monday after a bout with prostate cancer, was a devout Muslim who did not like his music to be called jazz because of the supposed indecent origins and connotations of the word (although those origins are still debated). He preferred the self-coined phrase "autophysiopsychic music." Furthermore, his music encompassed an impressively broad range of styles, and the only Grammy he won was in the New Age category -- for a recording of a symphony. Think about those things amid the flood of Lateef obituaries with "jazz" in the headline.
That said, certainly Lateef's own musical origins indisputably revolved around jazz. Growing up in Detroit, a highly fertile musical environment in the 1930s and beyond, Lateef got his first instrument, an $80 Martin alto sax, at age 18. Within a year he was on the road with the 13 Spirits of Swing (arrangements by Milt Buckner).

What’s even better is the subject – it takes place in a Northern California town cleaning up after the military has taken down a Kaiju! (That’s a Godzilla kind of monster, in case you missed the dozens of posts here about Pacific Rim.) Here are all the deets:

If you haven’t taken a gander at Bryan Singer’s H+ series, you should. Written and created by John Cabrera (Gilmore Girls), directed by Stewart Hendler (Machinima’s Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn), and released by Warner Brothers Digital Distribution, it is easily one of the most epic, well shot, well thought through web series released this year. One thing making the series even more enjoyable is how the series groups episodes into 'chapters'. If you do happen to watch the series that way you might notice an exciting feature they use to keep the viewer moving from episode to episode: in and out markers in the playlist skip opening bumpers and end credits. Being able to add annotations to videos on YouTube is not a new feature, but, being able to add these in and out points to all the videos in a playlist is fairly new. Let...

Boston-based ZoomTilt feels that there is room for one more online video marketing company in the endless sea of startups. They've worked hard to get the work of several talented creators recognized with a homegrown blend of visibility options. Now, ZoomTilt is looking to expand its offerings through The TV Reset Project, a talent search that will ultimately turn one lucky winner's creation into a full web series season on ZoomTilt's YouTube channel. ZoomTilt has announced the twelve semifinalists for the project, whittling down a list of thousands in order to isolate the creators who deserve special mention. Each semifinalist has already produced a pilot, but they will now rework those pilots with the help of some notable names in the online TV industry (including John Cabrera, one of the writers of H+). This will help determine the five finalists, who will have their pilots posted to YouTube. The one...

We told you last month about Bryan Singer‘s H+ The Digital Series, the futuristic online series where the human race is hardwired to the Internet – it does sound great, doesn’t it? but apparently in the series, this is a “bad” thing – and we’re happy to report that the first two episodes are now live.
Admittedly, I haven’t always been a fan of web series. This, however, is great. It is completely professional in every way, with absolutely top notch production values. The good news: two new episodes will be released at noon Pacific every Wednesday for a total of 48(!) episodes.
