You can't really review The Lion King. It's one of the crown jewels of Disney's line of timeless hand–drawn animated classics, and my own personal favorite of the bunch.
It's jam–packed with a great cast of voice actors, gorgeous and vibrant environments, settings, and colors, and some of the most unforgettable songs any movie has ever had. Not to mention the wonderful story of a young lion cub who's tricked into leaving the lands he was to one day become king of after an incident involving his stoic father–king...

Tyrannosaur (18)
(Paddy Considine, 2010, UK) Peter Mullan, Olivia Colman, Eddie Marsan. 92 mins
Bad things happen to damaged people (and dogs) in this sparse kitchen-sink drama – almost too many bad things for one film to take, between Mullan's volatile drinker, Colman's abused wife and their vicious social circles. There's a redeeming spiritual dimension to the misery, thank God, and as you'd expect of an actor-turned-director, Considine gets incredible performances from his leads.
Midnight In Paris (12A)
(Woody Allen, 2011, Us) Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates. 94 mins
Not finding modern-day Paris to his romantic liking, Allen sends Wilson's tourist back to the fantasy 1920s version, and recruits familiar faces to play familiar cultural legends: (Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, etc). It's so unapologetically wistful, he gets away with it. The French will love it.
Johnny English Reborn (PG)
(Oliver Parker, 2011, Us/Fra/UK) Rowan Atkinson, Rosamund Pike, Gillian Anderson. 101 mins

Chicago – While “The Lion King” is one of the best Disney movies of all time, “The Lion King 3D” is a manipulative exploitation to bring paying parents back with their kids merely through the sexiness of today’s 3D fad.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
Disney’s 1994 version, which has and will continue to stand the test of time, was the highest-grossing animated film ever until 2003’s “Finding Nemo” from Disney and Pixar. That said, its 2011 release is lazy, underwhelming and a missed opportunity to up its already epic ante with more vivid colors, etc. Just making it 3D isn’t enough.
Many people don’t know the film is out now, and upon finding out, you’ll wonder: Is this an entirely new “The Lion King,” is it a rerelease without anything new or is this a reboot? Answer: Nothing’s new except that it’s being rereleased for the first time in 3D.

Set off by some of the richest imagery the studio’s animators have produced, and held together by a timeless coming-of-age tale, “The Lion King” marks a dazzling — and unexpectedly daring — addition to the Disney canon. There’s little doubt that this film, abetted by a marvelous cast of star voices and songs by Elton John and Tim Rice tending toward huge, sonorous choral numbers, will draw huge, sonorous crowds this summer and beyond.
But the film shifts from upbeat sequences, featuring two snappy sidekicks and plenty of good-hearted accomplices in the classic Disney mold, to scenes of truly terrifying animal-kingdom violence that should cause parents to think twice before bringing along the “Little Mermaid” set.
And though the songs are well-integrated with a story that’s part”Candide,” part “Hamlet,” they lack the charm and subtle wit of the Alan Menken/Howard Ashman tunes for “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast.
