Exclusive: George A. Romero’s “final zombie movie” Twilight Of The Dead has got fresh impetus with producer-financier Roundtable Entertainment and a planned late 2023 start date in Puerto Rico.
The George A. Romero estate is teaming up with LA-based financier-producer Roundtable on the “seventh and final installment” of the seminal Living Dead franchise.
Horror icon Romero had written a treatment for the movie before he passed in 2017 and regarded Twilight Of The Dead as the conclusion to his epic saga, which comprised six movies and various spinoffs and remakes. The project was first revealed in 2021 but things have been quiet since then.
The script is now finished, having been taken on by Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas, and Paolo Zelati, who also worked on the treatment with Romero.

Composer Joseph Trapanese was determined to make the music for “America the Beautiful,” National Geographic’s six-part series launching July 4 on Disney+, different than that of any nature documentary to date.
“Hollywood is so guilty of misappropriating culture,” Trapanese says, “tapping into a culture and throwing it around, willy-nilly.” So he determined to score the continent-spanning story of North American flora and fauna with authentic musical touches as well as a very modern mix of traditionally orchestral and more contemporary sounds.
Series producer Dan Rees and executive producers Vanessa Berlowitz and Mark Linfield said they “didn’t want the typical nature documentary sound,” the composer explained.
Trapanese called an old friend, Sean Carey of indie folk band Bon Iver (they had previously joined forces for a song in 2017’s “Only the Brave”), and asked him to collaborate on an opening song. In turn, Carey enlisted friends from the Native American...

Bon Iver previewed their upcoming fourth LP, i,i, with a deluge of new songs: “iMi” (which features James Blake among its massive cast of collaborators), “We,” “Naeem,” “Marion” and “Holyfields,” (comma intentional) and “Salem.”
“iMi” opens with a heavily processed Blake vocal warble before settling into a tranquil nylon-string guitar pattern, soft electronics and a wall of Justin Vernon’s soulful vocals. “We” rides a bluesy bassline and a heavy sax section, with Vernon navigating his lower falsetto. “Naeem” finds Vernon belting over a gospel piano, building to a choral-stacked chorus.

With studios like Disney and WarnerMedia hoarding content in preparation to launch streaming services, original content has become a priority among streamer’s attempting to build their subscriber base.
Hoping to capitalize on this trend is Wattpad, a text-based storytelling platform with more than 500 million user-generated stories and over 70 million users around the globe. The first fruits of Wattpad’s push into filmed content can already be seen: “Light as a Feather,” a supernatural thriller based on Zoe Aarsen’s episodic Wattpad stories that has gotten 3.3 million reads, debuted as a 10-part Hulu series last October — and last month got greenlit for a second season.
Sony Pictures Television last year announced plans to develop a series based on Katarina E. Tonks’ “Death is My Bff,” a story about a sarcastic Angel of Death who meets his match that garnered 92 million reads on Wattpad.

Like its predecessor, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, we already know that The Assassination of Gianni Versace will eventually start streaming on Netflix. The only question is: when?

Streaming video service, iflix has teamed with Canadian online entertainment platform Wattpad. Together they plan to produce “dozens of original movies” in Indonesia over the next year.
The stories will be selected from the 6 million pieces of Indonesian content uploaded to Wattpad. The companies say that machine learning will guide the selection process.
Aggregate production budgets were not disclosed and multiple funding components are involved. Iflix and Wattpad have so far identified 26 project for production. Leading Indonesian production firm Screenplay is expected to commit to co-fund and co-produce at least 15 of them. Other titles are likely to find homes with other Indonesian producers, and be announced in the coming weeks.
The finished films will play on iflix’s free tier, and across all the countries in its footprint. Depending on the deals with Screenplay and the other local producers, some of the titles may be given limited theatrical releases in Indonesia.

With the buzzy sci-fi series Extant premiering tonight, high-rated returning fave Under the Dome on its way for later this summer, high-concept thriller Scorpion premiering this fall and James Patterson adaptation Zoo in the cards for the summer of 2015, CBS is in a pretty desirable spot right now. And the good news just keeps coming for the network, with word that CBS just inked a rich deal with streaming service Netflix so that the site can offer Zoo, adapted from the novel by Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, as soon as it finishes airing.
The pact is rumored to be even higher than the $900,000 Amazon is reportedly paying per episode of Under the Dome and Extant (which Netflix wanted as well). Intriguingly, whereas Amazon is able to put episodes of each of those series on its Prime Instant Video service four days after they air, Netflix has also agreed not to...

Bon Iver has just announced that their much anticipated second album will hit stores on June 21. The new album (on the Jagjaguwar label) by the critically acclaimed group led by Justin Vernon is titled "Bon Iver" and includes 10 new songs. While the band's 2008 debut, "For Emma, Forever Ago," was mostly a solo operation, on the forthcoming album, Vernon is joined by Sean Carey, Mike Noyce and Matt McCaughan, pedal steel player Greg Leisz, horn players Colin Stetson, Mike Lewis and C.J. Camerieri and arranger Rob Moose. While tracks haven't been released, or leaked, yet, according to the issued press release, fans can expect "a lush landscape of silky electric guitars, intricate keys, and subtle horn and string sections, which retains the ghost choirs and densely layered vocals intact that Bon Iver is widely celebrated for." Sounds like a winner.

Even if Sean Carey weren’t a member of Wisconsin indie-folk outfit Bon Iver, he’d likely draw comparisons to his bandmate and reigning north-woods king of pain, Justin Vernon. On his solo debut, All We Grow, Carey goes in search of that elusive For Emma, Forever Ago feeling, evoking a similarly chilly and emotion-choked sense of isolation via pocket symphonies composed of delicately strummed acoustic guitars, ghostly choral vocals, and muffled waves of dissonant noise. The abstract soundscapes Carey layers on his songs betray a sideman’s sensibility: It’s difficult not to get swept up in the carefully ...
