Even though James “Ghost” St. Patrick tried to build a life where his kids wouldn’t have to break the law to get ahead, we’re inclined to think he’d be proud of the way Tariq steps up in the new trailer for Power Book II: Ghost‘s final season.
The video at the top of the post outlines Tariq’s situation when the Starz drama returns in June: He has Noma, Effy and the Tejadas gunning for him, with only his longtime pal/business partner Braden backing him up. And if that weren’t bad enough, he’s...

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

Dark secrets have been controlling all the action so far in "Power Book II: Ghost" season three, but episode five marks what showrunner Brett Mahoney calls the "true turning point" that's put everyone on notice.
The episode, titled "No More Second Chances," picks up after the shooting death of Detective Kevin Whitman (Jeff Hephner) in Monet's (Mary J. Blige) house, with the feds snooping around on suspicion that her self-defense excuse is really a murder cover-up. There's also the fact that Monet has finally figured out who killed her son Zeke: her husband, Lorenzo (Berto Colón). Then, on the other side of "Power Book II," Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), his girlfriend, Effie (Alix Lapri), and partner-in-crime, Brayden (Gianni Paolo), get roped into a mess overseas during their business trip to Italy, as the latter gets kidnapped while on a mission for their new drug connect, Noma (Caroline Chikezie).

The third season premiere of Power Book II: Ghost drew the biggest opening weekend audience ever for a Starz series, the premium cable outlet says.
The show’s March 17 debut brought in 5.8 million viewers across all platforms over its first three days, according to Nielsen and internal data. That makes it the biggest premiere weekend ever for a Starz original series.
Though Starz didn’t break down viewers by platform, based on viewing patterns for other premium series, a large majority of the audience likely streamed the Ghost premiere. The show’s on-air premiere brought in 362,000 viewers, per Nielsen — just 6 percent of the three-day total. That’s in keeping with shows like HBO’s Euphoria, Showtime’s Yellowjackets, and Starz’s own P-Valley, whose initial, on-air viewership makes up just a small fraction of the total.
The 5.8 million viewers also includes multiple replays on the Starz cable channel over the weekend.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from the Season 3 premiere of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.
Power Book II: Ghost dropped its third season premiere on Friday titled “Your Perception, Your Reality” and as expected, it’s filled with sadness and frustration following the tragic events of last season.
Monet (Mary J. Blige) is really going through it following the murder of her son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy). She’s lost her way and healing can only begin by her avenging his death—an eye for an eye. Being that her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) shot down Zeke accidentally in a case of mistaken identity, things are plenty complicated.
In the meantime, Monet is so enveloped in grief that she neither notices the internal struggle going on in the family nor that there’s a new baddie in town named Noma (Caroline Chikezie) who is searching for...

Fresh off an early Season 4 renewal, “Power Book II: Ghost” is finally back from Season 3 with an explosive new trailer that previews a level-up for Tariq and shows Monet at a crossroads.
Per an official release from Starz, Season 3 promises to be even “flashier, sexier, and juicier” than anything we’ve seen yet.
“The third season of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ kicks off with Tariq St. Patrick determined to get his trust, get back to his family, and get out of the game for good,” reads the Starz synopsis. “The emergence of a ruthless new connect interrupts Tariq’s plans to reunite with Tasha and Yaz and puts him, Brayden, and Effie back into business with the Tejadas as they’re challenged to move more weight than ever before. When Brayden brings Tariq in as an intern at his family’s hedge fund Weston Holdings, the drug business expands beyond...

If a college student/budding drug kingpin walks like James St. Patrick, talks like James St. Patrick and dresses like James St. Patrick… anyone in his way better watch out. And because Tariq is becoming more reminiscent of his late father every day — right down to those designer suits, as we see in Power Book II: Ghost‘s full Season 3 trailer — um, Monet? Be careful.
The official peek at the new season, which Starz released Thursday, finds Michael Rainey Jr.’s character upgrading his wardrobe a bit, perhaps in order to court the finance bros we see in the preview.

It notched a 1.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 5.218 million viewers (Live+same day), building onto its The Resident demo lead-in (1.1/5.522M). But the serialized drama’s ratings then declined, ending the season with new lows in both the demo (0.7) and total viewers (3.122M) in its two-hour March 11 season finale.
Written by Heldens, The Passage was an epic, character‐driven thriller about a secret government medical facility experimenting with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or cause the downfall of the human race. The series focused on a 10‐year‐old girl named Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney), who was...

Tensions are rising going into Monday’s season finale of “The Passage.” And it looks they’re going to hit critical mass in just about two minutes, thanks to Amy and a little button.
In a new clip from the Fox vampire drama’s two-hour Season 1 closer, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Amy (Saniyya Sidney) is holed up in a room somewhere in Project Noah, when she decides to initiate “Elizabeth Protocol.” And while we don’t know exactly what that is, it definitely isn’t good.
While fighting back tears, Amy says “I’m sorry,” before hitting a button on a computer that brings up a “System Locked” screen and starts a two-minute countdown.
Lear (Henry Ian Cusick) and Richards (Vincent Piazza) — who are in the same room as Amy, but didn’t notice what was happening until now — look worried, as sirens begin to go off.

We’re nearing the end of Season 1 of “The Passage” and Fanning just keeps getting creepier and creepier by the week. Also somehow more charming, too, if that’s possible?
In a new clip from Monday’s episode, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Fanning (Jamie McShane) is trying to get inside Amy’s (Saniyya Sidney) head (literally) while she tries to enjoy herself in the sun-soaked reality she’s created in her mind. He’s trying to annoy some answers out of her and she’s not having it.
In particular, he wants to know about her relationship with Carter and she wants to know why — and why Fanning isn’t so nice to Carter.

Despite some character missteps, and pacing issues, this action-packed horror-filled episode of The Passage still works.
This The Passage review contains spoilers.
The Passage Episode 6
After five weeks of convincingly selling the relationship between Wolgast and Amy, The Passage put their bond to the test -- and it wasn’t an entirely successful attempt. Still, with Babcock back in the main, a lot of viral vampire horror, and one pissed off Jonas, the second half of the season is off to a good start, even if “I Want to Know What You Taste Like” isn’t the best of the lot.
The best part of the week was the heavy horror elements. There was much to be creeped out by as we learned more about the virals. The series certainly benefitted by getting away from Project Noah, and going into the wild. I thought the gory reveal of Dr. Pet...

After a decent series premiere, The Passage picks up the pace in its second outing. Our review of "You Owe Me a Unicorn."
This The Passage review contains spoilers.
The Passage Episode 2
The Passage series premiere was pretty good, despite feeling a bit disjointed, a patched-together pilot from two directors. It also felt a little paint-by-the-numbers formulaic as it set the table for quite a few plot threads – including the end of the world. In the age of binge-worthy programming and HBO-level budgets, The Passage's opening hour felt very “network”.
Still, there was potential, thanks to the relationship building between agent Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Amy Belafonte (Saniyya Sidney), the young girl he is sent to kidnap for the shadowy government operation Project Noah. Episode 2, “You Owe Me A Unicorn” is a step up, with a cohesive tone and does more to flesh out its other characters,...

From executive producer Ridley Scott and “Friday Night Lights” writer Liz Heldens, Fox’s vampire thriller “The Passage” lacks edge — and that may give it the edge over other fantasy-horror series. As traditional networks lose viewers and their own library content to streaming sites, shows like “The Passage” demonstrate what broadcast television can offer: Likable characters in a serialized story just engaging enough to retain viewers without the pressure of having to binge every single episode right now. This is apocalypse for the mainstream.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Justin Cronin, “The Passage” takes a relatable and heartfelt approach with the introduction to an orphaned 10-year-old Amy Bellafonte. An utterly charming, smart, and tough tomboy, she becomes “the most important girl in the world” as the key to the cure for a fast-approaching global pandemic.

Based on Justin Cronin’s best-selling novel, Fox’s new drama “The Passage” has the raw material of a hit: Richly detailed source material, an appealing star in Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and a compelling hook. The show assays a world in which an attempt to cure diseases by harnessing a dark sort of power results in the rise of a vampiric race. It ought to work: Hubris leading to man’s own destruction is a theme both time-tested and, these days, particularly fresh.
And yet “The Passage,” in its first three episodes, is doomed by its unwillingness to commit to its own darkness. Sequences in which the vampires haunt the dreams and minds of their prey are — in apparent concession to Fox’s status as a broadcast network — flaccid and uncompelling. And the show’s frame, as a story narrated by a child at the center of a nefarious government plot,...

Fox’s new drama “The Passage” premieres Monday night, proving pop culture’s fascination with the “vampire myth” is alive and well.
But “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Vampire Diaries,” “Twilight” or Anne Rice fans tuning in might be in for a rude awakening when they meet the fictional bloodsuckers star Mark-Paul Gosselaar tells TheWrap are “nothing like the vampires we’re familiar with.”
Based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, “The Passage” focuses on Project Noah, a secret medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease, but also carries the potential to wipe out the human race. When a young girl, Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney), is chosen to be a test subject, Federal Agent Brad Wolgast (Gosselaar) is the man who is tasked with bringing her to the facility — a facility that houses a...
