Charles Manson, whose name became synonymous with evil after his arrest in connection with the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and eight other people, has died of natural causes.
He was 83 and serving nine life sentences in California’s Corcoran State Prison at the time of his death, which was confirmed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
“I said a prayer for his soul,” Sharon Tate’s sister Debra tells People of the moment after she received a call from a prison official informing her Manson died on Sunday night.

Speak up against injustice or be thankful that you're still alive? It's a question that, as a first-generation American, Hasan Minhaj has been dealing with since childhood. Whether it was race-fueled vandalism at his childhood home or a rejected prom date, the 31-year-old comedian has always struggled with paying what he calls the "American Dream tax" — exchanging personal anger at everyday racism for the right to live safely in America. "It's something that I still deal with, and we all deal with in some capacity," he says. "But I've tried...

With a perfect last name amid imperfect circumstances, Richard and Mildred Loving made history when their fight for the state of Virginia to recognize their interracial marriage made it all the way to the Supreme Court in 1967.
Now, their love story is making headlines again, with a screen adaptation of their odyssey, simply titled Loving, generating early Oscar buzz after earning rave reviews in this year’s awards circuit.
But just who were Richard and Mildred Loving (portrayed onscreen by Australian actor Joel Edgerton and Ethiopian-born Ruth Negga)? Here are five things to know about the reluctant civil rights heroes...

Numerous actors have occupied the role of Sherlock Holmes over the decades, some more suited to the shoes of author Arthur Conan Doyle's famous consulting detective than others. One of the finest portrayals is that by Ian Richardson. Yet, sadly, his is also one that is often overlooked, not leastways because he played the character just twice (in a pair of 1983 films made for television), but also because his light was to be quickly eclipsed a year later by the arrival on TV screens of Jeremy Brett, whose interpretation of Holmes is considered by many to be the definitive one.
Sy Weintraub – who produced several Tarzan movies throughout the 60s and was executive producer on the popular long-running Ron Ely TV series –teamed up with Otto Plaschkes (whose producer credits include Georgie Girl and The Holcroft Covenant) with the intention of making several Holmes adventures headlining Richardson.

Donald Sutherland wants to stir revolt. A real revolt. A youth-led uprising against injustice that will overturn the Us as we know it and usher in a kinder, better way. "I hope that they will take action because it's getting drastic in this country." Drone strikes. Corporate tax dodging. Racism. The Keystone oil pipeline. Denying food stamps to "starving Americans". It's all going to pot. "It's not right. It's not right."
Millennials need awakening from slumber. "You know the young people of this society have not moved in the last 30 years." With the exception of Occupy, a minority movement, passivity reigns. "They have been consumed with telephones." The voice hardens. "Tweeting."

Plus, Omarosa breaks down in tears — again. Is she stable enough to stay in the competition?
Just when you thought All-Star Celebrity Apprentice couldn’t get any more dramatic, Donald Trump literally forced his contestants to move their competition onto a live stage, with Latoya Jackson and Stephen Baldwin leading the two teams. Needless to say, not everyone was deserving of an encore.
The drama began immediately for Latoya’s team, as Omarosa left after one day for a “family emergency.” As it turns out, Michael Clarke Duncan‘s 9-1-1 call — which captured the final moments of Omarosa’s fiancé’s life — was going to be aired on national television, and she had apparently worked very hard not to get that released to the public.
For Stephen’s team, the drama came from an unlikely source: Gary Busey! Though he put forth his best effort with a smile on his face,...

The show’s most fearsome villain shocked her fellow players with an intense display of emotions. (Spoiler alert: She’s human!)
The March 10 episode of All-Star Celebrity Apprentice found Donald Trump‘s teams constructing interactive “photo experience” displays for Universal Studios Orlando. But while they were intended to create “family fun,” they mostly just created mayhem and tension within each team. (Surprise, surprise.)
Team Power
Omarosa was named the project manager for Team Power, which couldn’t have been more appropriate. (Seriously, what does Lady O love more than power?) Her team members were vocal about her leadership come boardroom time, especially Brande Roderick, who accused Omarosa of making the entire experience too “tense.”
Despite her wicked ways, Omarosa led her team to victory, scoring an additional $20,000 donation in honor of her late fiancé Michael Clarke Duncan. Though some mocked her over-the-top display of emotions, Omarosa — who was once named...

Despite it being January, the bunheads returned to school after summer break in "Channing Tatum Is a Fine Actor," a line that was uttered by none other than Carl. I didn't see that one coming! Michelle is happily ensconced in Paradise again and things are back to normal.
Did I say normal? If there's one thing you can count on, things are never normal in Paradise. How abnormal things got is just a matter of scale.
After spending the summer at camp, Carl returned prepared to reignite the romantic fire with Boo. She was equally as excited, until she remembered they had promised to meet each others' parents. Apparently that's just not her thing. Instead of having faith in how much Carl likes her (he carved her an archery set at camp for goodness sakes!), she went to Michelle for advice. Oops!
Michelle's advice was to be exactly what his parents expected.

The speculations about Lana Del Rey and her bouffant being the new face of H&M have been rife for the last couple of months. Well, now the news is well and truly confirmed since the first few shots of Lana as the brand’s new face have surfaced. Voila! The photograph you see above is the singer’s mug for the new H&M autumn campaign and it’s super retro. “The mood is very L.A. noir. It’s inspired by our fall collection, ” says Donald Schneider, H&M’s creative director. The late 1950s/early ’60s totally spring to mind thanks to that fuzzy pink angora sweater, tight micro-shorts in the same shade and winged-eyeliner with the hair, of course. No frills, no fuss, very simple but sexy, the images have been shot by veteran snappers, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Apparently, a campaign video featuring...

British-born director known for Anne of the Thousand Days and Mary, Queen of Scots
The film and television director Charles Jarrott, who has died of cancer aged 83, began his career during a golden period of British TV drama, working on Armchair Theatre and The Wednesday Play in the 1960s alongside writers and directors such as Ken Loach, Dennis Potter and David Mercer. Both series were presided over by the Canadian producer Sydney Newman, who encouraged original work – what he called "agitational contemporaneity" – and had an astonishing impact. But in 1969 Jarrott's career took a different turn when he left for Hollywood, thereby increasing his income a hundredfold, while having to contend with far less adventurous material. His best films were his first, two Elizabethan costume dramas, Anne of the Thousand Days and Mary, Queen of Scots, enlivened by the Oscar-nominated performances of Richard Burton (Henry VIII), Geneviève Bujold (Anne Boleyn) and...

The shopping season starts early if you have a gamer who is also a horror fan on your chopping list. On Tuesday, Namco will release the much anticipated Splatterhouse on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. If you have been following Uncle Creepy on Twitter, you've heard him gush about this game. According to him ... there are lots of things gushing in this title.
If you're not much of a gamer, there aren't many horror goodies to get excited about this week. Unless you're down for an Asylum created CGI whale competing with your turkey (pun intended), along with a couple of other creatures. Rounding up the list is a British import and a cool looking indie offering that looks to make you shed some plasma.

Network DVD have announced the UK DVD release of the classic horror series Mystery and Imagination on July 5th 2010. This critically acclaimed and extremely popular anthology series presents a selection of Gothic tales by legendary 19th Century writers: Robert Louis Stevenson’s nihilistic The Suicide Club, Sheridan le Fanu’s Uncle Silas plus Edgar Allen Poe to name but a few, not to mention a most faithful adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Famous faces and well – known names lend this most chilling collection of tales authenticity and truth. Ian Holm, Denholm Elliot and Patrick Mower are among the many who turn in powerhouse performances for each of the six specially commissioned, featured-length TV plays.
