In 2005, Marvel Studios reacquired the rights to develop the Iron Man character. It was a move that positioned the movie studio for massive success with its Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. As a result, 2008’s Iron Man became the first movie in the MCU Phase One. With a budget of 140 million, Iron Man was a massive hit at the box office, with a revenue of 585.8 million. The movie’s protagonist Tony Stark was played by Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark/Iron Man is one of those superheroes you hate to love but can’t deny he’s extremely good at beating the

This article contains MCU spoilers.
It’s been 14 years since Robert Downey Jr. first stepped into our lives as Iron Man, and across four phases, a whole Infinity Saga, and more Easter eggs than we care to count, the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to go from strength to strength.
The journey from page to screen is never an easy one, and while the MCU packs a lot into its runtimes, there’s inevitably some stuff that gets left on the cutting room floor. Whether it be post-credit stingers or entire characters, the carefully-crafted franchise could be completely upturned by axing a simple scene.
Scenes like Stephen Strange healing an injured dog or Steve Rogers struggling to adjust to modern life are all well and good for tugging at the heartstrings, but they’re hardly McU-defining moments. If you’re ready to suit up in spandex, here are 10 deleted scenes that...

Shows and movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are rich with Easter eggs. They have been since 2008's "Iron Man," when a prototype of Captain America's shield appeared in a scene between Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. What's refreshing about "Werewolf by Night," then, is how Easter eggs are some of its only connections to the larger MCU.
Michael Giacchino's "Twilight Zone"-indebted special for Disney+ is a genuinely different outing for Kevin Feige's monolithic brand. It's shot in black and white. Most of its effects appear to be practical. The violence is genuinely brutal and bloody, and the story's connections to Marvel's ever-expanding shared universe are minimal at best (at least for now). For those who want to scour "Werewolf by Night" for hidden characters and references, however, there's still a trove of tiny details to unpack. Here are the best easter eggs in "Werewolf by Night,...

Ironheart isn’t exactly a brand new character since she was created in 2016 and has been embraced since that time. But there’s a trick to this character, and it’s the fact that Riri is said to be on the same level of intelligence as Tony Stark, perhaps even past what he can accomplish. A lot of fans have had an issue with this since one thing that people can’t tend to stand is when a character is brought in and given every advantage without being made to work for it. The fact is that according to her story, Riri has

Step aside Marvel, DC, and “Star Wars,” Paul Mescal has no time for IP adaptations…other than “Top Gun,” that is.
The “Aftersun” actor and “Normal People” breakout star firmly planted his request to join the “Top Gun” cinematic universe.
“If I get to keep making indie films for the rest of my life, I’ll be a happy man,” Mescal told People when asked what film franchise he would like to join. “Something like ‘Top Gun: Maverick ‘would be more interesting to me. I love that movie.”
“Star Wars” alum John Boyega similarly shut down speculation that he could be joining the MCU, saying, “I want to do nuanced things. I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top Iron Man in that universe.”

Unsurprisingly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is among the most anticipated movies in recent memory. Not only is it a sequel to one of the most culture-defining films of the past ten years, but questions remain about who exactly will play the title hero. But one of the more surprising points of interest involve a new addition to the MCU, Riri Williams aka Ironheart.
Williams first appeared in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man #7, written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Mike Deodato, as a young genius inspired by Tony Stark. In the issues that followed, Williams reverse-engineered Stark’s Iron Man armor to deal with a threat, eventually earning her own suit. In her solo series and in the teen team-up book The Champions, Williams has continued to evolve the armor into something more sleek and personal, less beholden to Stark’s aesthetic.

When you look at the history of how the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to be, the casting of Robert Downey Jr. was viewed as a very risky decision. And now we can't imagine anyone else but him as "Iron Man." It is undoubtedly one of Marvel Studios' greatest successes, and in the years to come, the growing interest in the MCU would help turn more niche comic book titles into megablockbuster hits ("Guardians of the Galaxy").
At this point, the MCU has essentially reached a point where its projects no longer need to prove themselves in order to be successful. "Iron Man" was, by all accounts, a miracle that led to Marvel Studios' domination. When we talk about surprises under the Marvel banner, especially given how quickly folks seemed to turn on it, I would argue that one of Marvel's greatest success stories is one that we don't really talk about as much.

Tony Stark may be gone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but soon you'll be able to revisit him in a new "Iron Man" game from Electronic Arts and Motive Studio. Though the game wasn't revealed until after the recent Marvel Games showcase (via ComicBook.com), the company made a joint announcement about it with EA.
It sounds like we're really going to be able to get into the story since this is a single-player, third-person action-adventure game that "taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it's like to truly play as Iron Man."
Considering that this character can fly, blast things from his hands, and is a genius with a great backstory, it could be a nice combination of story and battle. It will be a while until we see this Iron Man game,...

This article contains Secret Invasion comic book spoilers
News concerning the future projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might have been thin on the ground at this year’s D23 Expo, but at the Marvel Studios panel audiences got their first glimpse of the exciting Disney+ show Secret Invasion. Described as a ‘televised crossover event,’ the series takes its name and elements of its narrative from the original comic book arc.
Not everyone will be familiar with the story of the alien invasion on the page, though. Considering the many changes that the MCU has made to its lore in comparison to the comics, there are sure to be some shifts in how this graphic novel narrative will be adapted. So, what was the original Secret Invasion about, and how much of it will actually make its way to the screen?

Birdman director Alejandro González Iñarritu is still hurt by a comment made by Robert Downey Jr in 2015.
While promoting his Oscar-winning film Birdman, Iñarritu said that superhero films were a form of “cultural genocide”.
He said: “I don’t respond to those characters. They have been poison because the audience is so overexposed to plot and explosions and s*** that it doesn’t mean nothing about the experience of being human.”
Downey Jr – who famously portrayed Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the Marvel Cienmatic Universe – weighed in on Iñarritu’s comments a year later during an interview to promote Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The actor’s response was controversial, with Downey Jr stating that he “respects the heck out of” the director, but mocked Iñarritu’s heritage.

As Disney+ releases the six episodes of "Ms. Marvel" this summer, Popsugar has exclusive interviews with the cast and creators about making the show come to life. This week, star Iman Vellani chats with Popsugar about episode six, "No Normal."
The finale of "Ms. Marvel" ended with a scene that has some massive implications for the MCU. Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan, tells Popsugar it was actually the most difficult scene to film for her in the whole series. "The take that we saw was the only legit take that we got because every single time Matt [Lintz] said that line, I just started giggling out of nervous excitement," she says. "I just couldn't believe that we were saying this word."
Even now, Vellani is hesitant to use the word: mutation. In Marvel, mutations mean mutants and mutants mean X-Men, and there have been no mutants in the MCU so far.

One of the most heartbreaking deaths of the MCU came in “Avengers: Endgame” when Tony Stark sacrificed himself to destroy Thanos and his followers. And three years later, directors the Russo Brothers stand by their decision to kill off the beloved hero — in fact, they’d say he deserved it.
Now, the “Endgame” directors don’t necessarily say that with malice. But they also aren’t offering up any deeper explanation of why they decided to kill off the man who really started it all for the mega-franchise. The duo recently completed Wired’s “Autocomplete Interview,” wherein the subjects answer the most searched questions on Google, as dictated by the autofill bar.

After making the rounds of the festivals and a brief run in a few theaters this past summer, "Facing Ali," a different kind of fight biopic, makes it to TV tonight. And to paraphrase Muhammad Ali himself -- "it's almost the greatest." What makes "Facing Ali" different is that it's told neither from Ali's nor the filmmaker's points of view, but from the points of view of the men who faced Ali in the ring -- and how facing the self-proclaimed, self-fulfilling-prophesy maker affected their lives. The boxers interviewed for...

James Toback’s candid interview with “Iron” Mike Tyson may have missed the short list of 15 films vying for the Academy’s “Best Documentary,” but another boxing movie is a contender as the field narrows in a little over a month.
Out on DVD Tuesday (Dec. 29), Facing Ali recalls the career of Cassius Clay, better known as the self-proclaimed greatest boxer of all-time, Muhammad Ali. Ten fighters who faced the man, from George Foreman to Joe Frazier and Leon Spinks to Ken Norton, reminisce on his ring persona and the key bouts that changed their lives.
No former fighter is more open than George Chuvalo, who helps piece together the portrait of a powerful athlete and controversial figure. He recalls the famous taunts that earned Ali the nickname “the Mouth from the South,” the religious and political stands during a turbulent time, and of course the contests that shaped the sport in its prime.

Sunday was supposed to be a day of sports and soldiers. I was planning on seeing a documentary called Facing Ali, a feature film about soldiers called The Messenger, and another documentary called Warrior Champions, which showcases some severely wounded veterans competing in the Paraolympic Games in Beijing in 2008. Instead, Sunday was a day of sports and scene kids. Facing Ali My day began again at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz. Those Alamojitos make it easy to find myself at this place about three times a day. Lionsgate Films and Spike TV present this great documentary about Muhammad Ali, told from the vantage point of his opponents. In Facing Ali, there's certainly a historical picture of Ali, and...

Muhammad Ali has already been the subject of documentaries, films and biopics, but Facing Ali is different because it looks at the man, the fighter, through the eyes of those who faced him in the ring.
And in looking at the man — and the myth — of Ali, we're told the story of modern prize fighting. It is, English fighter Henry Cooper says in the film's early moments, a story of immigrants and the working class. Fighters, he explains, are motivated to get out of their environment.
Presented by director Pete McCormack (Uganda Rising) and producer Derik Murray (Legends of Hockey chronologically, starting with the 1963 fight between Ali — he was Cassius Clay then — and Cooper, and ending with Ali's 1980 loss to Larry Holmes.
The soundtrack for the film matches the shifting era, too, moving from jazz to funk as we move from the '60s into the '70s.

Hollywood studios and distributors believe that this summer's expensive blockbusters can beat the success of 2007's releases, Variety says.
Last May saw the release of the third instalments in the Spider-Man, Shrek and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises. All three films went on to cross the $$300 million mark at the Us box office.
However, the movie industry is speculating that this May, described as a "launch pad for summer" by one insider, could break records because many of the films are "new titles".

John Riccitiello told the Financial Times: "The buzz in Hollywood, which I heard from some Hollywood folks...is people are worried whether Iron Man the movie is going to get killed by Grand Theft Auto the game. I don't think I've ever heard of that before.
"There is more interest today from Hollywood to make movies out of our games than there is interest in our industry to make games out of their movies. There's a big reset happening . . .
