Duran Duran throw a virtual monsters’ ball in their video for “Danse Macabre,” the title track of their upcoming album, which comes out just before Halloween on Oct. 27. The music features the return of the band’s former guitarist, Warren Cuccurullo, since he left the group in 2001.
The animated clip, for which creative director Linc Gasking, used AI technology, shows Dracula, Pennywise, Nosferatu, and other baddies dancing and monster-mashing as the members of Duran Duran, who, of course, look undead here, perform the spooky song. “Get dirty up on a danse macabre,...

Duran Duran have announced the release of their 16th studio album, Danse Macabre, due out on October 27th via Tape Modern/BMG. With Halloween as its “key theme,” the album not only features a batch of new songs, but also a number of fun guests and several covers, including tunes by Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones, and more.
Along with the album announcement, the band has also shared the record’s title track, “Danse Macabre,” as a lead single, with a fittingly spooky video in tow. Watch the new music video below.
According to the press release, Danse Macabre and its Halloween theme were inspired by Duran Duran’s 2022 Halloween show, in which they employed “glorious gothic visuals” and a number of fun cover songs to create a “dark soundtrack of horror and humor.” As the band’s Nick Rhodes explained: “That evening inspired us to explore further and to make an album,...

When Dolly Parton learned she was going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her first reaction was to tell her supporters not to vote for her since she saw herself as strictly a country artist. But when she walked onstage near the end of the induction ceremony Saturday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, after witnessing an incredible evening of music by artists as diverse as Eminem, Judas Priest, Lionel Richie, and Duran Duran, a beaming Parton had a very different take on the situation.

After looking over the list of potential artists to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, Duran Duran didn’t think they had a chance in hell. It’s not that they didn’t feel deserving of the honor, but they had spent decades of their career being the outliers who didn’t exactly do things like everyone else. But during their induction on Saturday night, the British glam rock stars proved that carrying that distinction is what makes you a star.

Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor, and John Taylor kicked off the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony with the hit that started it all, “Girls On Film.” But about 30 seconds into their 1981 jam, a sound glitch caused the band to pause for technical difficulties. “[We’re] proving to you we weren’t lip syncing,” quipped Le Bon.

As Duran Duran accepted its induction into the 2002 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, frontman Simon Le Bon read a letter on behalf of former member Andy Taylor that revealed he’s been battling prostate cancer for years.
Taylor did not join the band during Saturday’s ceremony. “Just over four years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease and of course, we are no different,” Taylor wrote in his letter. “So I speak from the perspective of...

I was 13 years old in 1984, and MTV was less than two years old. My friends and I were captivated by “music TV,” and never more so than when British band Duran Duran, which was composed of five good-looking men, captivated Americans with their exotic videos. “New Moon on Monday” was the first song that garnered my attention, and I joined millions of other screaming girls across the globe to become a “Durannie.” And now after a lengthy, undeserved wait, the band enjoys induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England, by guitarist John Taylor and keyboardist Nick Rhodes, along with another friend, Duran Duran named themselves after the villain in the 1968 sci-fi movie “Barbarella.” Band members changed over the next couple of years, and Taylor eventually switched to bass, teaching himself to play. By May of 1980, they had formed the lineup that would soon...

Duran Duran won the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan vote by an extremely healthy margin, but Simon Le Bon was skeptical they’d actually make it in until the day he learned it was official. “I was in shock and disbelief,” he tells Rolling Stone via Zoom from Italy. “I mean, we’re Duran Duran. We’re always the bridesmaid, never the bride. And we looked over the list of names and thought we didn’t really have a hope in hell.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for the class of 2022 earlier this week, and the list includes Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Judas Priest, A Tribe Called Quest, the New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, and Duran Duran.

Earlier this week, we posted an extensive interview with veteran backup singer Tessa Niles as part of our ongoing Unknown Legends series. She got her big break back in 1983 when the Police hired her for their Synchronicity world tour, and she went on to sing with everyone from Tina Turner and Pet Shop Boys to Eric Clapton and George Harrison. She even sang with David Bowie during his Live Aid set, even if he got her name wrong in front of about 2 billion people during the band introductions.

TV Mania—Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes' Medazaland-era side project with then-guitarist Warren Cuccurullo—dropped its long-lost, experimental pre-reality television debut magnum opus Bored With Prozac And The Internet? today in most of the world (it hits North America tomorrow, March 12).
If you're a fan of Duran Duran's more "out there" nineties work and have been following @TVManiaMusic on Twitter, then… like me… you're probably excited, thrilled and maybe a little confused about the album, its high-concept narrative and why and how it sat on a shelve for so long.
Thankfully, Nick sat down with RollingStone.com for a fantastic new Q&A feature that addresses Bored With Prozac And The Internet? as well as Duran Duran's past, present and future (they're set to return to the studio with Mark Ronson this month). Check it out right here and/or read the TV Mania-related highlights below:

Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes might not be up on your favorite new DJ or band, but he's Ok with that.
"Now I think I'm fairly discerning with what I listen to," Rhodes told HuffPost in a recent interview. "Because I don't need to particularly listen to something that is brand new unless it's really great. I'm all for any piece of modern music. Someone tells me, 'You've got to listen to this.' I'll always listen."
Rhodes, 50, says certain new acts have made an impression on him (he likes the Ting Tings' "Shut Up and Let Me Go" and says Mgmt's "Kids" has "a completely different feel to it"), but wonders if the relative ease with which one can produce a song nowadays has brought with it a lack of focus on craft. "Are people going to be listening to it like they listen to the Beatles now, or whoever else who has endured?...

Keith Chegwin has spoken out about a survey claiming that the '80s was the worst decade of the 20th century.
He argued that the decade created plenty of musical talent and said he was proud of the unusual clothing fashions that dominated the era.
Chegwin told Ds: "People have been knocking the '80s - what's going on, how can they do that?
"In this survey, people said they couldn't stand things like the fashions, the hairstyles and the mullets. TV shows like Dallas, Rainbow, and Timmy Mallet, but in my recollections the '80s were fantastic.
"We produced such great bands like Ultravox and Duran Duran. Then there was the clothes; on Cheggers Plays Pop I couldn't wait to put on my flares and gold jacket . . .
