The family Daskalidès escaped from Turkey in 1923 to Gent, Belgium
because of the fact that the Turks killed the Greek who lived at that
time in Constantinopel (Istanbul). He was from 1941 till 1946 the
band leader and second trumpeter of the jazz-band 'The Blue Swingers'.
He became a technical engineer in 1944 in Gent and afterwards he worked
in the tea-room of his parents. From 1970 he was the director of the 2
world-famous praline factories 'Leonidas' and 'Daskalidès'
(1979).
