If one phrase is most associated with The X-Files, it's the iconic line “I Want To Believe.” These words, coupled with the image of a flying saucer, adorned dorm rooms across America during the series’ highly successful run on the Fox network in the 1990s. But do these words accurately express the overall theme of the show? Some critics, such as noted skeptic Richard Dawkins, maintain that The X-Files encourage its audience to blindly believe in far-fetched concepts such as the paranormal and flying saucers. Actor William B. Davis, who plays the Cigarette Smoking Man, has questioned Dawkins’ interpretation of the show. And he was right to do so. In fact, The X-Files actively promotes rigorous investigation and skepticism, not blind belief.

Things have been intense on screen for Jane Widdop lately. As Laura Lee on Showtime’s addictive horror show Yellowjackets, the poor girl's desperate plan to save her stranded friends tanked when the plane she was piloting exploded and crashed. Flash forward to It’s a Wonderful Knife, currently in theaters, and we find Widdop’s character Winnie Caruthers fending off a masked murderer in a holiday horror comedy that’s a wicked blend of Scream and It’s a Wonderful Life.
The tale chronicles Winnie’s plight in a small seaside town filled with secrets. One year after saving her town from a diabolical killer on Christmas Eve, Winnie is struggling with the aftermath. She wishes she’d never been born, then suddenly finds herself in a nightmare parallel universe where her wish has become a reality, much like George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life. But life without Winnie isn’t that great.

Warning: major spoilers for Upload season 3
Upload season 3 reveals that the two Nathan Browns, real Nathan and backup Nathan, have different plans for their respective relationships with Nora and Ingrid. David Choak and Oliver Kannerman's plans to influence the elections were worse than initially thought, as they aimed to get rid of poor people and control the results by scamming them with Freeyond. Nora's dream of becoming a lawyer is put in jeopardy after the trials, and Ingrid's loyalty has the potential to change as she becomes an ally to Nora and Nathan. Aleesha and Luke's relationship also faces uncertainty.

If you’re a fan of the Scream films, and you can’t get enough horror films where the villain wears a mask, It’s a Wonderful Knife is your movie. Think of it as Scream meets It’s a Wonderful Life. Directed by Tyler MacIntyre — a hot commodity now having written Five Night at Freddy’s — the new comedy horror romp cuts deep, mixing humor and gore in a seasonal slasher outing that may generate repeat viewings annually.
Kudos to the clever premise: One year after saving her small town from a psychotic masked killer on Christmas Eve, Winnie Carruthers’ (Jane Widdop of Yellowjackets) life is shattered. When she wishes she’d never been born, Winnie suddenly finds herself in a bonkers parallel universe. You guessed it: in this small town, Winnie was never born. There’s some great fun watching all this play out as Winnie discovers that without her “life,...

It wouldn't be surprising to learn that the filmmakers behind holiday horror comedy It's a Wonderful Knife first came up with their pun-tastic title and only later thought of a plot to go with it. The idea of a horror take on the Christmas classic It's a Wonderful Life is too enticing to resist, and It's a Wonderful Knife only occasionally lives up to the goofy promise of its high-concept pitch. It's best when riffing on that appealingly ridiculous mash-up and less successful when it makes an earnest attempt at dealing with trauma and bloodshed.
Within its first 15 minutes, It's a Wonderful Knife has already run through a miniature version of the entire plot of a typical slasher movie. The movie is set in the idyllic small town of Angel Falls, a location perfect for any of the dozens of interchangeable Hallmark Christmas movies released yearly. The town's welcome sign...

Despite the abundance of movie genres, people often find themselves bored and unable to pick a decent film. The horror genre, however, is relatively unique in that it tends to blend other genres such as psychological, thriller, comedy, and even science fiction. For that reason, the genre has been embraced by many people all around the world, to the point where people rewatch classic horror films like The Evil Dead on special occasions such as Halloween. Having said that, you should be prepared to spend plenty of time bingeing these classics because the horror genre constantly provides new content to make you indulge in blood and gore.
While there have been several new horror films in the past couple of months, including The Nun II, Saw X, and The Exorcist: Believer, the following month doesn't seem so bad, especially with some intriguing film releases. Bearing this in mind, here are...

Few TV shows have had the seismic impact of The X-Files – with its swirling mysteries, long-running conspiracies, and shocking monster-of-the-week episodes. Factor in the legendary roles of Mulder and Scully (the incredible David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) and you have the recipe for a multiple-decade-spanning phenomenon, that began on the small screen, moved to the big one (twice), and was revived for two additional series just when fans thought it was all over. Packed with alien encounters, supernatural shenanigans, and moments of very human horror, the show – spawned by Chris Carter – brought audiences into a world where you never quite knew what the next episode would bring.
30 years later, the impact of The X-Files hasn’t been diluted – and throughout its reign on big screens and small, Empire spoke to several of its key voices. Take a rifle through the X-Files Interview Archive…

“The X-Files,” which starred Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as two intrepid FBI agents who investigated bizarre and unexplainable cases, debuted on Fox on Sept. 3, 1993.
The sci-fi cult hit from Chris Carter not only had a profound impact on pop culture, but also inspired more women to enter the fields of science and medicine, like Anderson’s character Dana Scully.
The character was largely modeled on Jodie Foster’s Clarice Starling in 1991’s Oscar-winning “Silence of the Lambs,” while the show’s eerie theme song was partly inspired by The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now?”

Ryan Coogler's reboot of Chris Carter's The X-Files already has a huge problem facing it, and it's not whether the new show can live up to the original's iconic status. When it first aired in 1993, The X-Files tapped into the zeitgeist of the 1990s with a story about a deep state conspiracy to withhold information about the existence of aliens. 30 years later, there's been a significant shift in the types of conspiracy theories that gain traction online, which makes an X-Files reboot a daunting prospect in the 2020s.
Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot was mentioned by creator Chris Carter in an interview with On The Coast with Gloria Macarenko to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary. Given the numerous, complicated mythology arcs introduced throughout its initial nine-season run, it's surprising that more shows didn't spin off of Chris Carter's 1993 hit show "The X-Files." For the uninitiated, "The X-Files" was about a pair of FBI agents named Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) who were assigned to the Bureau's most unusual cases, often filed under the letter X. The unusual cases often involved alien abductions, man-sized liver flukes, psychics, shape-shifters, psychic photography, and other such paranormal monkeyshines. Much of the show sprung from a sense of paranoia aimed at the United States government and its tendency to hush up the mind-blowing, supernatural truth about the world. Only a believer like Mulder and a skeptic like Scully would have the intelligence and the wherewithal to find the truth.
"The X-Files" did have two spinoffs. The 1996 series "Millennium," about a forensic profiler (Lance Henricksen) investigating some quite immediate end-of-the-world lore,...

Warning: Spoilers for the “Upload” Season 2 Finale Follow Below
The second season of Amazon Prime Video’s sci-fi comedy series “Upload” ended on a massive cliffhanger, setting up a potentially even more exciting Season 3.
Season 2 of the show found Nathan (Robbie Amell) and Nora (Andy Allo) working together to stop a dastardly plan that would see lower-income people in swing states targeted for free uploading via Freeyond, which would subsequently disenfranchise poorer voters and swing those swing states towards the wealthy and powerful.
This plan was seemingly being coordinated by David Choak (William B. Davis), a wealthy man living in Lake View next to Nathan who’s still pulling strings despite being uploaded. In a last-ditch effort to stop the dastardly plan, Nathan and Nora hijack Nathan’s new body being grown in the real world by Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) and download him into this new body.

But back in Lake View,...

The X-Files cast and crew reunited to add lyrics to the iconic theme song for a good cause. "The unforgettable theme to The X-Files had no lyrics. Until now," reads the opening title card. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are featured in the video, which also includes series creator Chris Carter and executive producer Frank Spotnitz, along with a ton of past cast members. It's a bit on the silly side, but it's goal is clear, which is to bring a smile to someone who could use it, while also raising money for World Central Kitchen.
Chris Carters says, "We wanted to gather The X-Files family together during these trying times to put some hope and spirit back into the world." Carter went on to note that they wanted to "use the occasion to give thanks and donations to those who need it most." The new take on the theme...

When the Sci Fi Fidelity podcast began in the fall of 2016, Den of Geek was just over half its current age and podcasts were experiencing a surge in popularity. As a result, we dove into our analysis of science fiction and supernatural television shows with enough fervor to ignite listener interest in the unsung heroes of the genre TV field through thoughtful reviews, insightful interviews, and discussions of our favorite aspects of this corner of the entertainment world. Alas, however, the journey has come to an end just shy of the podcast’s fourth anniversary as we move the discussion to our video outlets, but we wanted to take some time to look back at the best moments from our hundred-episode run.

Witches Council elder Methuselah doesn't mind if you smoke and doesn't care if you burn.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hosts a somewhat less than venerated group of wise wizards in season 2, albeit a reluctant one. Hilda Spellman summons the Dishonorable Council of Witches to deal with a High Priest who has gone off his rocker, honestly. Father Blackwood is changing the tenets of the Church of Night, which he re-anti-christened the Church of Judas, and declared intentions to break away from the Churches of Darkness. The council, which previously bound Sabrina's warlock cousin Ambrose to the Spellman house for hundreds of years, is headed by Father Methuselah.
Methuselah is played by William B. Davis, who besides being a sitting member of the Witches Council, played Carl Gerhard Bush Spender, better known as Cigarette Smoking Man, who was part of the State Department's secretive "Syndicate" which oversaw alien colonization on The X-Files.

The eleventh season of The X-Files is coming to an end. I don't know about you, but I've really enjoyed this latest season of The X-Files. There were some great and fun episodes. Fox has released the trailer for the season finale of the series and it looks like it will be a solid ending to the season as Mulder and Scully try to help their son. It looks like Mulder sees a lot of action in this season finale. The question is, will The X-Files continue after this or will this be the final episode of the series!?
With Gillian Anderson not coming back to the franchise, the future of the show is in limbo. But, creator Chris Carter has said that the series could continue without Gillian:
"I think that certainly The X-Files has more life in it, there are more stories to tell, with Gillian or without.
