The following article contains spoilers for "Loki" season 2.
That's it. "Loki" season 2 is over, and it appears that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has taken over as the God of Time. Yes, yes, I know. It's the God of Stories, but he's sitting there in his throne, holding all the strands of time in his hands, keeping the multiverse from collapsing, so it's time to me. It also looks like he's taken over for He Who Remains/Kang (Jonathan Majors), which may allow the Marvel Cinematic Universe to move away from the character in response to Majors' legal issues. Oh, and let's not forget that Kang was beaten by ants in "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania," so how much of a threat could this guy really be, anyway?
As for Hiddleston, he might feel he's done playing the God of Mischief for good -- although, depending on what Marvel Studios decides to...

Hollywood actor Owen Wilson spoke about his character of Mobius in ‘Loki Season 2’. Talking about Mobius coming to terms with a new reality, Wilson said: “Mobius is afraid to find out what his real life might have been because what if it’s something that was so heartbreakingly good that it makes it hard to continue with the life that he’s living in the Tva.”
Adding further, he said: “Everybody can feel that a little bit in their life, to sort of be peering down the road not taken and wondering what if.”
“There are some people who really want to go down that road and there are other people who don’t even want to give it a second glance. It’s an issue for Mobius to resolve in Season 2.”

Loki director Dan DeLeeuw spent nearly 30 years in visual effects, but he knew it was time for a change after receiving his second and third Oscar nominations for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. DeLeeuw worked as the on-set visual effects supervisor on all four of the Russo brothers’ Marvel films, and having directed second unit for Joe and Anthony during Endgame’s additional photography, he quickly realized that his next step involved the director’s chair.
“It was definitely something like, ‘Where do you go from here?’ ” DeLeeuw tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Caesar wept because there were no more worlds to conquer, so where do I go after Endgame and not get bored with it? And I was like, ‘Let’s go to second-unit directing and then start directing.’ ”
He proceeded to handle second-unit responsibilities for Chloé Zhao’s Eternals and Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania...

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses some general plot developments in Season 2, Episode 2 of “Loki,” currently streaming on Disney+.
For 30 years, Dan Deleeuw has worked in visual effects, from “The Mask” to “Armageddon” to “Night at the Museum” — but he always had a dream that one day, he might get to direct. That opportunity finally arrived in 2019, when “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo — who’d worked with Deleeuw on VFX for their three previous Marvel Studios productions — hired him to shoot some additional photography for the behemoth production. That gig led to second unit directing jobs on 2021’s “Eternals” and 2023’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and then, finally, to the main directors chair for the second episode of Season 2 of “Loki.”

Actor Tom Hiddleston is making his return as Loki in the second season of his eponymous show ‘Loki S2’. This time, the Norse God of Mischief has found himself a new family with the Time Variance Authority (Tva).
Speaking on this, the ‘Crimson Peak’ actor said: “One of the things we talked about is how Loki always struggled with family in the MCU, but he’s found a new family in the Tva, and he’s found, in its breakdown, an understanding of himself.”
He further added: “Having his sense of self opened up, broken down, and rebuilt by Mobius and his colleagues at the Tva, and also his connection with Sylvie, there’s a new capacity, a new awareness to make connections with other people.”
“He realises that those connections are all that matter in the end, and they’re connections that he wants to preserve. But now the stakes are higher.

After Loki’s amiga Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) opted to kill He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) spurring multiple nefarious versions of the newbie villain across several timelines, Loki was sent back to where it all started: the bureaucratic, office grind of the Tva — but a very different one; one where his new best friend Mobius (Owen Wilson) doesn’t recognize him. Out of touch with his soulmate, Loki is trying to find his way back to her. However, like Chicken Little, he’s trying to tell everybody that the sky is falling; that Kang the Conqueror is coming their way. The God of Mischief has returned. Only this time, he has the mischief thrust upon him. And he returns and returns and returns again, as Loki gets pulled through time at random intervals beyond his control. Marvel Studios has been exploring the more cosmic parts and psychedelic concepts of their universe after concluding the Infinity Saga with Phases 4 and 5. Loki season 2 continues the theme of multiverse jumping, and Kang the Conqueror, or He Who Remains, looks to be pulling the strings. Disney+ has just released the new trailer for the follow-up to its successful first-season. The show is set to stream later this fall.

While Disney+ may be delaying a majority of its fall Marvel series release schedule, season 2 of "Loki" is returning with a vengeance. The Marvel TV series stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, and Ke Huy Quan, among others, and the release of the first trailer alone was breaking records for the Disney-owned streamer. People can't get enough of Hiddleston's Loki, and it seems as if Disney+ has enough faith in the show's fanbase to return without the assistance of a celebrity-filled promotional press tour (that cannot happen under the SAG-AFTRA strike guidelines). But the trickster God and the Time Variance Authority (Tva) are back, ready to face off against the variants of He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). But then again, are Mobius and pals the same characters we know and love, or are we seeing new variants with wildly different personalities?

The upcoming season will also star Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, the female Loki time variant, alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Jonathan Majors, and Neil Ellice.

Disney+’s Loki season two trailer shows the God of Mischief is uncontrollably slipping through time. Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan’s O.B. (Everything Everywhere All at Once) is called on to help, but he can’t because what Loki’s doing is 100% impossible in the Tva…and yet it’s happening.
The trailer also shows that war is on its way, and the timeline is running out of time.
Tom Hiddleston returns as MCU fan-favorite Loki, Owen Wilson reprises his role as Mobius M. Mobius, and Sophia Di Martino is back as Sylvie. Wunmi Mosaku plays Hunter B-15, Gugu Mbatha-Raw is Ravonna Renslayer, and Eugene Cordero is Casey/Hunter K-5E. Season two also stars Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, and Jonathan Majors.

The first trailer for the second season of Loki has dropped, and it includes a peek at Kang, the character played by embattled actor Jonathan Majors.
Loki, the first live-action Marvel Studios series to get a season two, once again stars Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius of the Time Variance Authority. Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan and Blindspotting’s Rafael Casal join the franchise as well.
The inclusion of Majors in the trailer answers a question about how Disney would market the show, in which the actor is a key antagonist said to appear in about half the episodes.
Majors first showed up in the season one finale before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania included a Kang-centric post-credits scene. Majors was arrested in New York in late March in what police described as a domestic dispute in which a 30-year-old woman sustained minor injuries.

Turns out, when you destroy the man keeping watch over several timelines, things start collapsing pretty quick. And that’s exactly what Tom Hiddleston’s Loki appears to be finding out in Season 2 of his eponymous Disney+ series.
The first “Loki” Season 2 trailer has arrived and the most pressing issue may not necessarily be Kang the Conqueror, but Loki himself. He’s experiencing something called “time slipping,” in which he gets “pulled through time, between the past and the present.”
The issue is, time slipping isn’t supposed to be possible at the Tva — at least according to Ke Huy Quan’s character. The Oscar-winning “Everything Everywhere All At Once” star takes on the character of Ob in the series, someone that Loki and Mobius (Owen Wilson) go to for help. Unfortunately, he’s just as baffled as they are.
You can watch the full trailer for “Loki” Season 2 in the video above.

Denis Villeneuve’s sweeping “Dune” and Disney’s Golden Globe-winning animated musical, “Encanto” each scored six nominations Tuesday to lead the 20th annual Ves Awards nominations (awards ceremony details are in pandemic flux). Marvel’s trippy “Loki,” meanwhile, led the broadcast field with four nominations for the Disney+ series.
Competing for feature visual effects are the frontrunning “Dune,” “Godzilla vs. Kong,” “The Matrix Resurrections,” Daniel Craig’s Bond finale, “No Time to Die,” and Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” All have been shortlisted for the VFX Oscar, with “Dune” as the heavy favorite, in which Dneg supplied windblown sand, raging sandstorms, flying insect-like ornithopters, and the iconic CG sandworms.
Supporting visual effects nominees include “Candyman,” “Last Night in Soho,” “Nightmare Alley,” “The Last Duel,” and “The Tragedy of Macbeth.”

The Visual Effects Society unveiled nominations Tuesday for its 20th annual Ves Awards, with Warner Bros’ Dune and Disney’s animated Encanto leading all nominees with six apiece, followed by the Disney+ Marvel series Loki which has four noms to lead all broadcast series.
The group, celebrating its 25th anniversary, recognizes the year’s best in outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation across film, animation, television, commercials and video games. With the Omicron variant surging, the Ves Awards ceremony does not have a date or format yet; those decisions are still to be made and tickets are not yet up for sale.
Last year, the Ves Awards went virtual in a ceremony hosted as per usual by Patton Oswalt. Netflix’s The Midnight Sky, Disney/Pixar’s eventual Animated Feature Oscar winner Soul and Disney+’s The Mandalorian were among the marquee winners.

Disney’s “The Lion King” roared Wednesday night at the Ves Awards, grabbing the top VFX prize for photoreal feature along with virtual cinematography and the environment for The Pridelands. The kudos from the visual effects community (where three-time Oscar winning supervisor Rob Legato is hailed as a rock star) could tip the Oscar race in favor of “The Lion King.” That is, if Academy voters are equally impressed by the photoreal beauty of Jon Favreau’s faux live-action aesthetic (lensed by the legendary cinematographer Caleb Deschanel and animated by Mpc Film).
Indeed, it would make history, since no CG-animated movie has ever won the VFX Oscar. And that would be quite a testament to this game changer because, traditionally, the VFX branch has honored the seamless integration of live action and photoreal CG. But there is no integration in “The Lion King.” Team Favreau cleverly fooled us into thinking...

Already a “fan” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, visual effects supervisor Dan DeLeeuw knew that “Avengers: Endgame” “was going to be the biggest film we’d ever done.” He wasn’t wrong. A two-time Oscar nominee who has been working on Marvel pics since 2013, visual effects supervisor Dan Deleeuw found some of the most complex blockbuster work of his 26-year career in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame.
Debuting in April, and going on to rack up nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office, the star-studded superhero film opens on a universe thrown into chaos, following the disastrous events of Avengers: Infinity War. Facing off with Mad Titan Thanos for the final time, the remaining Avengers assemble to restore order to their world.
The culmination of a 23-film story arc that began with Iron Man in 2008, Endgame also represented to Deleeuw the pinnacle of ambition, in terms of VFX craft brought to the McU. In a recent tweet from Marvel Entertainment, they posted a video interview with Dan DeLeeuw, Marvel’s VFX supervisor that oversaw the work done on Avengers: Endgame. In a part of the video where they showed a rough cut of the final battle scene, you can see Sean Gunn’s character from Guardians of the Galaxy, Kraglin, in the front lines, ready to go to war. But we don’t see him in the final cut for the film. He was replaced by Rocket, who is actually motion captured by none other than Gunn himself! So he replaced himself, just as a different character.
Sean Gunn, brother of the director of the Guardians films, James Gunn, didn’t start out doing the motion capture, but was really just working as a stand-in for the actors who needed to hear Rocket’s lines spoken in the scenes. But he ended up...

For visual-effects artists, time is always a struggle. When the call comes in to create something spectacular, artists and supervisors have to calculate how much run-
way they have to get from the point of the idea for the vfx to the deadline. On “Avengers: Infinity War,” the vfx crew found that a new innovation — machine learning — made it possible to create the character Thanos in a way that would have simply been impossible without it.
The filmmakers envisioned a version of Thanos — played by Josh Brolin — that would be CG, but also incorporate all the subtle facial expressions and delicate hallmarks of a physical performance that could only been done by an actor. They knew that the facial tracking tech was there but asking vfx artists to manually adjust every inch of the CG version of the face of Thanos once they had all the tracking and scanning information would have been a disaster.

So much for “Black Panther” running away with the VFX Oscar. Despite its impressive Wakanda enhancement, those CG rhinos weren’t judged as up to snuff. It failed to snag a nomination in favor of the upstart “Christopher Robin,” with its impressive animation of Pooh and his pals and live-action integration.
As a result, the VFX Oscar race pivots back to a battle between Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and Damien Chazelle’s “First Man.” The remaining two nominees, Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One” and Ron Howard’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story” delivered enough of that CG wow factor to also make the cut.
Although the smart bet would be on the Nasa adventure “First Man,” which ingeniously redefined in-camera VFX, don’t underestimate the power of “Infinity War,” with its game-changing animation of Thanos (performance captured by Josh Brolin). Although it’s considered the underdog, since no...
