She developed her interest in lithography and drawing throughout the
1970s. In 1980, she moved to Nova Scotia and became interested in the
local tradition of rug-hooking. Using used clothing, she began to
construct images that related to gender issues and Assyrian myth. Edell
has won awards from the First Festival of Women's Films, New York City
(1972); Canada Council Show, Paris, France (1972), and Edinburgh,
Scotland (1969). She has exhibited widely in Canada.
