Audiences are, by now, used to the R-rated gross-out comedies that feature man-child characters getting into ridiculous, often moronic, situations. It’s a genre that was once box office gold, blending shocking and outrageous scenes with surprisingly sweet sentiment. However Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates takes the concept one step further, fighting for male/female equality through cinema, with not only male characters acting stupid and outrageous, but also the ladies of the cast. Yes, this is an “equal opportunites idiot” movie!
The film follows the titular Mike and Dave, two fun-loving (and, honestly, idiotic) brothers who tend to get out of control at family gatherings.

A sweetly silly trounce of the idea that overgrown frat boys are charming. Shakes up the subgenre in a way remarkably, if perhaps accidentally, feminist. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of grossout movies (which this looked to be)
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
The Stangle family is tired of the antics of manchild sons Mike (Adam Devine: Ice Age: Collision Course, The Intern) and Dave (Zac Efon: Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, We Are Your Friends): they ruin every family gathering with their nonsense, the nature of which typically ends up requiring the assistance of the fire department and/or paramedics. So for daughter Jeanie’s (Sugar Lyn Beard: Aloha (2015), 50/50) wedding to Eric (Sam Richardson: Ghostbusters, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), Mom (Stephanie Faracy: #Stuck, The Five-Year Engagement) and Dad (Stephen Root: Trumbo,...

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates starts out giddy with a bouncy firecracker of a credits sequence. Please take that literally as the credits involve a trampoline, fireworks, and two gleeful stars Mike (Adam Devine) and Dave (Zac Efron) in mid air. Their joyful abandon is short-lived. A scene or two later we're at an intervention with their parents (Stephen Root & Stephanie Faracy) in which we see these same high-flying images again from a less zhushed-up perspective in home wedding videos their parents play them. The inseparable brothers, always each other's bachelor dates at these gatherings, egg each other on until disaster strikes. Property destruction and ambulance calls follow them... ...

Inspired by “true” events, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is a screwball comedy with the potential to edge towards a smarter farce. More favorable than a certain Adam Sandler Hawaiian vacation comedy, if at times no less offensive, the film delivers a few big laughs even if a few notes fall flat along the way. Operating at full throttle, web short and TV vet Jake Szymanski lets the inmates run the asylum while allowing Aubrey Plaza to break out of her shell; here she’s shed that awkwardness thanks to weed and booze.
The plot is as direct as can be. Dave (Zac Efron) and Mike Stangle (Adam DeVine) have ruined many a family affair with well-intentioned but disruptive antics and are given an ultimatum: their mom (Stephanie Faracy) and dad (Stephen Root) tell them to find nice, respectable girls to bring to their sister Jeanie’s (Sugar Lyn Beard) wedding or stay home.

Chicago – The funniest movie of the summer describes its whole situation through the title – “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.” This hilarious farce features a killer cast, led by Adam Devine and Zac Efron, and brilliant comic direction by Jake Szymanski.
The premise is simple…two brothers, who wreck every social event their family participates in, are chastised by their gruff-but-lovable father (the great Stephen Root) to get some decent dates for their sister’s upcoming wedding. Since each of the bros are between relationships, they solicit the potential dates on Craigslist. Enter two hard partying galpals (Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick), who pretend to be virtuous to get a free vacation to Hawaii (the destination wedding). What could go wrong?

Children watch a man via videolink supposedly in the Arctic and he gets killed on camera. Alexis (Molly Quinn) is having violin lessons with Dylan;(Tyler Hoechlin) a hunk whom Castle (Nathan Fillion) strongly objects to since he could end up having designs on her. Castle: "You went male model." Martha (Susan Sullivan) likes Dylan too. Beckett (Stana Katic) tells Ryan (Seamus Dever) she'd have spoiled the surprise if she told Castle about the shooting and where the Db was. Castle: "Do we have jurisdiction in the North Pole?" Well they would have found some way to get there to assume jurisdiction, ha. He thought "it was awesome." Beckett notices a building in the glass which Castle states has classic Upper West Side architecture. Hey he's an exert on buildings too. Wheeler, (David Ramsey) the teacher, saw Steven Fletcher two weeks ago. Watch out for the nifty brochure,...

That's why she had decided to punish him and torture him and humiliate him...have her revenge before she told him she knew." Tom rips his pants. Renee (Vanessa Williams) thinks she made a mistake telling Lynette (Felicity Huffman) about them, well then she shouldn't have but it's too late now. Stan Zimmerman and James Berg have been brought on to write The Ivy Chronicles, a comedic drama that Jerry Weintraub is producing for Warner Bros. Pictures.
The film is based on the best-seller by Karen Quinn. "Ivy" chronicles the story of a New York woman who loses her Wall Street job, her husband and her high-end apartment. She tries to forge a new life with her two daughters by establishing a kindergarten referral service for well-heeled Manhattanites vying to get their tots into the country's choice schools. Tracey Jackson wrote a previous draft.
Jessica Goodman is overseeing for the studio.
Weintraub, who recently was honored as producer of the year at ShoWest, has two releases set for summer: Ocean's Thirteen and Nancy Drew.
Zimmerman and Berg, whose credits include A Very Brady Sequel, have Beached set up at Fox 2000 for director Betty Thomas and The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, based on the popular 1947 film and subsequent late-'60s sitcom, also at Fox.
Zimmerman will make his stage directorial debut in the spring at Los Angeles' Celebration Theatre with a 30th anniversary revival of Albert Innaurato's play Gemini, with Peter Onorati, Stephanie Faracy and Mindy Sterling set to star.
