It’s a two-for-one Valentine’s Day treat. Google’s latest homepage Doodle pays homage to both Valentine’s Day and the 154th birthday of George Ferris, the inventor of the Ferris wheel.
The interactive Doodle features two Ferris wheels. When you click on the heart button, the wheels spin and cartoon pictures of two different animals appear. After the love connection between the animals is made, you get a second picture of the two animals on a date – whether that be a goofy elephant and a monkey at a dance or a frog and bird on a canoe trip just like in The Notebook.

Google celebrates George Ferris's 154th birthday and Valentine's Day with today's doodle. Does the name George Ferris sound familiar? It should, since he named his greatest invention, the Ferris wheel, after himself.
The Google doodle features two animated Ferris wheels and roller coasters spelling out "Google." In the center there is a little button with a heart on it. When you press the button, two cartoon animals appear and make eye contact. There are endless adorable combinations. The two animals then go on a date in comic form. A horse and a tiger hold hands (paws? hooves?) on a bench. A turtle is late to dinner with a rabbit. A monkey dances with an elephant. I recommend clicking until you get to the hilarious fox animation.
Inspired by the Eiffel Tower, Ferris designed an "observation wheel" based on the design of a bicycle wheel. He first debuted the wheel...
