WaZabi Films, the Montreal-based sales agent launched by Anick Poirier and Lorne Price, has boarded horror comedy “Red Wings,” one of buzziest and most singular titles at early August’s Frontières Co-Production Market.
Created by executive producer Rhiannon Aarons, a publisher/co-editor on Bob Flanagan’s book “The Book of Medicine,” and Dana Hammer, author of novels such as “Rosemary’s Baby Daddy” and “Dead Viking Rehab,” “Red Wings” turns on Audrina, who gets bitten by a bat and gains an unnatural gift: Killer red bats that fly out of her vagina when she menstruates.
Learning to accept and master her superpower, she gains control of her life and fights evil in the process. Audrina starts the film being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. She now embraces her new bat-friends and sets out for retribution.
Kate Kroll will direct “Red Wings,” which is produced by Anne-Marie Gélinas at EMAfilms.

Kirby Dick’s documentary; Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist from 1997 is getting a re-release due to the fact that 3 particular minutes of somewhat disturbing footage have been added back into the film after being cut by the BBFC upon the film’s original release in 2001.
Sadly the missing footage doesn’t add anything, it’s just 3 minutes of some of the most unpleasant behaviour ever captured on film outside of a Jackass movie. Now that comparison is where the humour stops because this film is one of the most unpleasant yet moving documentaries ever made even though it feels oddly unfinished.
For those of you who don’t know, Bob Flanagan was a stand-up comedian, performance artist and poet who was born with Cystic Fibrosis and given a prognosis of not living beyond his early twenties. Around his teens Flanagan found an interest in sadomasochistic practices and humiliation,...

But every once in a while, a clip comes along that really turns heads and gets the band in question a load of (perhaps unwanted) attention. Such is the case with Florida pop-punkers Mayday Parade, whose video for "Kids in Love" has raised a whole lot of eyebrows with its graphic depictions of sex, drug use and violence. The video — which somewhat resembles the "Europe montage" from "The Rules of Attraction" — has been banned from YouTube and has also earned the group a bit of backlash from their fans, who have called it "pointlessly explicit." "The negative reaction, it bothers me," Mayday Parade frontman Derek Sanders told MTV News' James Montgomery on Wednesday (April 28). "I hate to see people say they've lost respect for us or that they're no longer going to be fans of our band,...
