Fox’s exec shuffle continues.
Mere days after Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier shocked the network with his decision to move to Roku, the broadcast network’s comedy division is getting new leadership.
Cheryl Dolins has been named senior vp comedy programming and development at Fox Entertainment, replacing Julia Franz in the role. Franz was at the end of her contract and opted to pursue new opportunities after three years in the role. Sources indicate that her decision to leave predates Collier’s move to Roku, which staffers at Fox learned about an hour before the news of his exit was made public.
Franz will continue to serve as a consultant on the network’s upcoming single-camera comedy Animal Control — which marks Fox’s first fully-owned half-hour series — as well as the second season of Welcome to Flatch.

Cheryl Dolins has been tapped as the new senior vice president of comedy programming and development at Fox Entertainment, replacing Julia Franz, who had held the post for three years.
The executive shuffle has been in the works for some time and is not related to Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier’s surprise departure to Roku last week. Franz will remain at the company as a consultant on comedies “Animal Control” and “Welcome to Flatch” in a network and studio creative capacity, as well as stay on until the former wraps production next spring.
Based in Los Angeles and reporting to president Michael Thorn, Dolins will be responsible for overseeing the development and production of the company’s growing comedy slate, which includes the upcoming single-cam “Animal Control,” Fox’s first wholly-owned live-action comedy; “Welcome to Flatch,” from executive producers Jenny Bicks and Paul Feig and multi-cam comedy “Call Me Kat,...

Julia Franz, senior vice president and head of comedy programing and development for Fox Entertainment, is exiting the broadcaster. Cheryl Dolins is joining Fox to take her place.
Franz has been at Fox for the past three years. She will remain at Fox in a consulting role. In that role, she will serve as both network and studio creative on the upcoming Fox workplace comedy “Animal Control” and the upcoming second season of “Welcome to Flatch.” She will stay on in that role until “Animal Control” wraps in spring 2023.
Dolins was previously the senior vice president of comedy development at 20th Television from 2016-2020. While there, she worked with Fox’s president of entertainment, Michael Thorn, prior to him joining Fox in 2017.

Exclusive: There is a change at the helm of Fox’s comedy department. Julia Franz is stepping down as SVP and Head of Comedy for Fox Entertainment after three years. She will be succeeded in the role by former 20th Television head of comedy development Cheryl Dolins, who will be based in Los Angeles, reporting to Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn.
The changeover had been in the works for a while and is not related to Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier’s surprise exit on Thursday to join Roku.
I hear Franz’s exit from her executive role was a mutual decision. It comes at the end of her three-year contract. Franz will remain at the network in a consulting role, focusing on Fox’s newest show, Animal Control, the network’s first fully owned live-action comedy. Julia Franz has been tapped to become senior vice president of comedy at Fox Entertainment, while Daniel Weidenfeld will be named senior vice president of animation at the network, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Franz will lead the charge on all comedy production and development for the network. Weidenfeld will oversee all animated production and development for both the network and third-party platforms.
Franz and Weidenfeld will report to Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment’s president of entertainment.

In a now very crowded field of Democrats, Joe Biden’s third run for the White House has the deepest pocketed Hollywood donor to the ex-Vice President’s boss putting his money on the table.

Repost: With the long Emmy weekend upon us, here again is Deadline’s guide to all the parties.
There are a number of changes in the party roster this year, some due to the fact that the Primetime Emmys are on Monday to accommodate host network NBC’s Sunday Night Football telecast.
The weekend agency/network festivities stretch over four days. They start with the Wme party, which is staying on Friday despite the Emmys’ (temporary) move to Monday — CAA, UTA and ICM Partners are shifting their receptions by a day — and end with a slew of post-Emmys bashes Monday night.
Those include a revamped Governors Ball, which ditched the steeped-in-tradition ballroom setting for an open-air rooftop party held on the L.A. Live Event Deck. (You can see a preview under the post.)
Other changes on Emmy night include AMC, IFC & BBC America not holding a reception this year. TNT, whose The Alienist won at the Creative Arts Emmys, is making its Emmy party debut, joining sibling TBS, which hosted an event last year, for a joint celebration. And, with Disney’s acquisition of key Fox assets pending, we will have the last Emmy party of still-siblings Fox, 20th TV, FX and National Geographic.
The biggest change on Saturday and Sunday is the move of CAA’s staple Emmy party from its longtime location at the stately Bouchon in Beverly Hills to the boho-chic Rose Cafe in Venice. Additionally, after taking a break last year, Showtime’s Emmy-eve celebration is back at a new location, Chateau Marmont, after a long run at Sunset Tower. Additionally, after a four-year hiatus, Paradigm’s Emmy party is back, while, after hosting a bash for the last few Emmy weekends, Gersh is sitting this year out.
In other tweaks, Comedy Central’s party is on the move again. After moving its pre-Emmy soiree to the weekend of the Creative Emmys last year, the cable network is returning to the weekend of the main telecast.

In the wake of its success with The Blacklist this season, NBC has given series orders to a trio of intrigue-heavy political-tinged dramas that bring Katherine Heigl, Anna Friel, and Hope Davis into prime-time.
First up is Allegiance, a show that will remind some of FX’s The Americans, except it’s set in present day. The show stars Scott Cohen (Necessary Roughness) and Davis (The Newsroom) as deactivated covert Russian spies living in America (full descriptions below).
Then there is State of Affairs, which returns former Grey’s Anatomy star Heigl to series TV. This one is about a...

We’re getting closer and closer to Katherine Heigl’s return to television whether we’re quite ready for it or not. NBC has officially picked up Heigl’s drama pilot State of Affairs. It’s been three months since NBC managed to snag the project from an intense bidding war between the networks and once you win on something like that you don’t let it slip between your fingers. I would be incredibly surprised if NBC were to not give the series a full season order. No matter your opinion on Heigl, she has her fans and she’ll definitely have an audience built into the project.
State of Affairs is being developed at Universal Televsion, with Joe Carnahan writing, executive producing and directing. There are a ton of other executive producers, according to THR, including Alexi Hawley, Robert Simonds, Heigl herself, her mother and manager Nancy Heigl,...

After three years of sticking her nose to the grindstone and getting her name out there as an A-list film actress, Katherine Heigl is ready to return to the place where she made her name first known: network television. The former Grey’s Anatomy star – she played Izzie before departing the series due to conflicts with the producers and wanting to try new things – has been taken in by NBC to lead an untitled CIA project that has Heigl completely hooked. I mean she loves this project to the point that I’m concerned for what will happen if it doesn’t get picked up. Maybe her friends and family should keep a close eye on her just in case.
Universal Television is developing the project, says THR, with Alexi Hawley (The Following) writing and executive producing. Heigl will exec produce on top of starring, along with Robert Simonds, her manager/mother Nancy Heigl,...

After lengthy negotiations, NBC has closed a deal for a drama project starring Grey’s Anatomy alumna Katherine Heigl with a put pilot commitment. Written by Alexi Hawley (The Following), the untitled drama, laid off at Universal TV, stars Heigl as a key CIA analyst whose job it is to debrief and strategize with the president on the most pressing global and national matters. She balances this incredibly high-stakes job and trusted relationship with her complicated personal life. Heigl and her mom Nancy Heigl executive produce under their Abishag Prods banner along with Hawley, Robert Simonds, Henry Crumpton and Rodney Faraon, who has debriefed several presidents. This is the first TV project to come out of a joint venture between Aardwolf Creative and film producer Simonds. Julia Franz, who works with Simonds, will also exec produce. It also marks the return to primetime of Emmy winner Heigl. “I have been passionate about,...

TBS has ordered third seasons of its original sitcoms Sullivan & Son and Men at Work. Three and a half years after her exit from Grey’s Anatomy, Katherine Heigl is looking to return to primetime as the lead of a new drama project, which has been shopped to broadcast and cable networks. NBC appears a strong contender, though I hear that there is interest/offers from multiple networks, so a decision likely won’t be made until next week. It’s written by Alexi Hawley, co-executive producer on Fox’s gritty new drama The Following, and I hear the procedural focuses on how the CIA handles hotspots around the globe, with Heigl playing an adviser/communications liaison for the U.S. president. I’ve learned that feature producer Robert Simonds (The Pink Panther) had been developing the project with Hawley, Heigl and a team of former senior CIA officials. Heigl, who I hear responded to the strong female character at the center of the show,...

Exclusive: Jamie Tarses and her Fan Fare banner are staying at Sony Pictures Television with a new two-year overall deal. The decision for Sony to re-up Tarses is a no-brainier as she is the studio’s most prolific non-writing producer. Tarses has 3 series on the air, ABC comedy Happy Endings, which is expected to be renewed for a third season, TNT’s Franklin & Bash, which returns for a second season this summer, and the upcoming TBS comedy series Men At Work. Additionally, Fan Fare has 2 broadcast pilots, CBS drama Baby Big Shot and the NBC Hilary Winston comedy. Former NBC and ABC executive Tarses came to Sony in 2005 when she joined Gavin Polone at his Sony-based Pariah. After selling a few projects, including the TBS series My Boys, the two parted ways at the end of 2006 when Wme-repped Tarses launched her company Fan Fare and inked an overall deal with Sony.
