- Dario Gabbai was born on September 2, 1922 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He was an actor, known for The Last Days (1998), Finding Nico (2010) and Auschwitz (2015). He died on March 25, 2020 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

- Brother of Jakob Gabbai and cousin of Schlomo Venezia and Morris Venezia. They were all deported with their families and arrived in Auschwitz on 11 April 1944. They were all chosen to become part of the 'Sonderkommando' in Auschwitz-Birkenau. They witnessed the Sonderkommando uprising in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 7 October 1944. Dario Gabbai survived and was later liberated by the US Army. Today he's the last known survivor of the 'Sonderkommandos'.
