- R. A. Gennaro was born in the state of São Paulo but has been living in Curitiba, state of Paraná, Brazil, since 1979. He graduated in Architecture from the Federal University of Paraná, where he was engaged in the cultural world. He was an active member of the local and national students' unions, organizing artistic and cultural events, exhibitions and a film club for the Federal University of Paraná. In 1984 Gennaro began his professional activities in the field of marketing, working for several politicians in the state of Paraná, until he opened his own promotions and events business. In 1988 he started producing advertising campaigns, videos and short films. With Virgínia w. Moraes he created Laz Audiovisual Ltda. and has brought about several events in the field of cinema in the city of Curitiba. In 1995 he was elected President of the Cinema and Video Association of Paraná. From 1996 to 1999 he dedicated himself exclusively to the production of Oriundi, feature film starred by Anthony Quinn. Oriundi received the "Gold Award for First Feature" at the 2000 "WorldFest Houston" and was selected by the audience of the 1999 "Vancouver International Film Festival" as one of the 30 best films exhibited at that event. Oriundi also opened the "Washington Latin-American International Film Festival" in 2000, chosen to represent the integration of Latin-American culture in that year. The film will be theatrically launched in USA next August (2004).
He is currently working on two projects: Cafundó, a feature film in post production, directed by Paulo Betti and Clovis Bueno, and Garibaldi in America, a feature film and TV mini-series in pre-production.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Virginia w. Moraes
