- Piero Gherardi was born on November 20, 1909 in Poppi, Tuscany, Italy. He was a costume designer and production designer, known for La Dolce Vita (1960), 8½ (1963) and Juliet of the Spirits (1965). He died on June 8, 1971 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.
- Set decorator from 1945, art director by the following year, his work influenced by the paintings of Klimt and Moreau. Worked in neo-realist Italian cinema, notably on four key films by Federico Fellini. Also designed Oscar-winning costumes for 'La Dolce Vita' and '8 1/2'.
