Another day, another reboot announcement.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Little House on the Prairie is getting the update treatment.
A reboot is officially in development on a one-hour drama that would be based on Laura Wilder's beloved novels.
The new series would be co-produced by Paramount TV Studios, Anonymous Content, and Friendly Family Productions.
Details are scarce at this early stage, which is not uncommon for a project this early into development.
The book series was previously adapted into a TV series for NBC and starred Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert.
It was a roaring success and aired from 1974-83, having tremendous staying power.
TV movies followed the end of the original series, while ABC aired a miniseries based on the books in 2005.
The original series centered around the Ingalls Family, who live on a small farm near the village of Walnut Grove, Minn., in the late 1800s.

Long before she was a teenage actress holding her snarky own in Roseanne, before heading a panel of women sharing their perspectives on The Talk, and before the Roseanne reboot reconfigured into The Conners, Sara Gilbert found her voice as a performer.
Specifically, during an elementary school performance of The Wizard of Oz, the five-year-old Gilbert was cast as Toto, which sparked an improvisational chord. “When we were doing it, I decided to start barking at random times during the play, and every time I would bark, people would laugh,” Gilbert recalls. “That was me figuring out that I could do comedy.”
Showbusiness was the family trade: among other credits, her maternal grandfather Harry Crane developed The Honeymooners with Jackie Gleason and brought the celebrity roast concept to The Dean Martin Show. The concept was created and produced by Melbourne hot house Burning House with a filming budget of $50,000.

The Vampire Diaries Review, Season 3, Episode 16: “1912”
Written by Julie Plec and Elisabeth R. Finch
Directed by John Behring
Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on The Vampire Diaries: It’s brotherly tough love for Stefan, Rebecca does some tree-related sleuthing, and Elena has a heart-to-heart with Matt.
After several weeks of reruns, and with a not-insubstantial cliffhanger to resolve, The Vampire Diaries is back this week with a flashback-laden lorefest heavy on the brotherly angst. Usually this is just the kind of story the series excels at. Flashbacks to Stefan and Damon’s human life have been reliably entertaining in the past and last season’s jaunt to ‘20s Chicago was a hoot. This time, however, the story falls flat, with little development and not nearly enough action to warrant the time dedicated to 1912 Mystic Falls.
During these flashbacks, we’re introduced to Sage,...

The Vampire Diaries: The Mystery Killer is Revealed! What Do You Think? (Poll)
The Vampire Diaries threw us for a loop in this week's episode. After setting up a mysterious serial killer over several episodes, the show finally revealed the stab-happy murderer....
Seriously, do not read any further if you haven't seen the episode, because major spoilers follow.
The killer turned out to be none other than mild-mannered high school turned vampire hunter Alaric Saltzman! Holy crap, we did not see that one coming!
Flashing back to 1912, when a rash of Mystic Falls founders were also being murdered, the Salvatore brothers soon realized that a descendent of Jonathan Gilbert was to blame. Only Damon was confused, because he was certain he had killed the woman in question. But, as it turns out, she was also in possession of the Gilbert family "bring-back-to-life" ring (probably not the official name, but...

There was only one part of this week's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" that I was looking forward to, and that was the scene where Damon tells Stefan about his werewolf bite. Those two are at their best when they're together.
As for the rest of the episode... I was completely dreading it. First of all, we've been warned left and right about how sad it would be, and sad things generally do not make me happy, for they are sad. Additionally, I figured that the actual sacrifice couldn't possibly live up the the hype.
I'm happy to say that I was wrong on both counts. Let's jump in, shall we?
Previously on "The Vampire Diaries": Elijah talked so much.
8:01 - Matt! In the first scene of the episode! Unfortunately, it's hard to get excited about his presence when he just shot Tyler. Why is Matt so comfortable with a gun?...

Also, poor Elena is spotted in a dangerous "circle of fire" as Klaus is trying to sacrifice her. Bonnie starts bleeding a lot in new Vampire Diaries episode 17 photo. The CW recently released a new photo from the upcoming "Vampire Diaries" episode 17 of season 2. The episode is titled, "Know They Enemy." In this photo, we see that Bonnie has another major, magical freakout that looks pretty serious as she starts bleeding a lot from the nose. Elena is going to go off on her returning biological mother Isobel. Alaric punches Jonathan Gilbert dead in the face. Matt runs and tells Caroline's mother that he has issues with vampires, and more.

I've officially run out of words to open a recap for The Vampire Diaries unless I start using expletives, which I unfortunately can't use describe the awesomeness that was last night's episode. In fact, I'm mentally circling how I'm going to be able to tackle the layers of goodness that was bestowed upon us tonight, especially given this episode marks the last one till April (cue the screams of torture now). With that said, I'm going to take on this recap the best way possible and try my damnedest to not leave anything out, without going overboard.
Elena and Stefan get duped by Katherine, who they just found out was released from the tomb due to Elijah's 'death.' It's unclear if Damon told Stefan beforehand of Katherine's escape, but the fact of the matter is that Elena is pissed and doesn't want any help that Katherine has to offer.

Vampire Diaries Episode 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Written By: Andrew Chambliss Directed By: Marcos Siega Original Airdate: 17 February 2011 In This Episode... Elena and Stefan are still in seclusion at the lake house. Elena is absorbed in Jonathan Gilbert's journals, which describe Stefan's attack on him. Stefan shares his side of the story. When he first turned, Stefan was so filled with guilt that the only way he could turn it off was by vicious, psychopathic, and constant killing. He was like Damon, only worse, while Damon was the one trying not to give in to his baser instincts. With Civil War in his backyard, Stefan had an endless, anonymous supply of...

The episode opens with Elena reading Jonathan Gilbert's journals at the lake house. She discovers that he thought all the vampires were dead but, at a dinner party, heard noises. When he went out to investigate, he used his compass and was shocked to discover that he was surrounded by vampires. He writes that his friends were suddenly attacked by a vampire. "I saw the vampire who killed me," Elena reads. "I recognised him. It was Stefan Salvatore." Stefan is standing by the lake when Damon calls, revealing that Tyler has run away so they can now focus on Elijah. He adds that he has the dagger and is planning to kill Elijah soon, but promises that he will be careful. Stefan goes inside and admits that he is still angry with Elena for agreeing to sacrifice herself to Klaus. Elena retorts that she is reading about things Stefan...

Act 1 - A Weekend Getaway, Vengeful Plans
The morning after the wolf slaughter from last week, Jules and Brady learn from another wolf, Stevie, about the Sun & Moon curse and Mason's involvement in it with some vampire named 'Kathy'. Brady declares to kill every vamp in town to stop them from breaking the curse.
At Caroline's house, Stefan calls Elena and the two decide to escape to a cabin in the woods for the weekend, which would be a way for Elena to leave the drama behind, namely John.

Zap2it caught up with "The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley at a recent promotional shoot in Los Angeles, and before he had to hop on a plane back to Atlanta for production, he filled us in on a whole new side of Stefan.
In an upcoming episode, we'll flash back to 1864 again -- but this time, we'll see just how Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan first adjusted to their new vampire instincts after they turned.
"I'm so excited," Wesley tells us, his eyes lighting up. "We have a flashback, and Stefan is very Damon-esque. He's lost; he doesn't know what to do with himself. He's living in guilt, so he's just sinful, and lustful, and very Damon-like -- times ten. It's kind of fantastic."

In light of the most recent Vampire Diaries episode, which showed us glimpses into Katherine’s past, I thought it was the opportune time to review the newest Vampire Diaries book “Stefan’s Diaries #1: Origins”. This book, based on the characters by L.J. Smith, and with input from showrunners Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, tells the story of how Stefan became a vampire.
TV show tie-ins can often be hit or miss, especially if they don’t stay true to cannon or the spirit of the characters. However, “Origins” manages to do both. We’ve seen bits and pieces of Stefan’s birth as a vampire throughout various flashbacks on the show, but this new book really fills in the blanks. A lot of familiar characters also appear throughout its pages, including Damon, Katherine, Jonathan Gilbert, Stefan’s father and vampires Pearl and Anna. A bit of the history...

Katherine rocks very sexy look in new Vampire Diaries season 2 photo. The CW recently released a new photo from the upcoming season 2 of their hit show "Vampire Diaries." As you can see, Katherine who is Elena's evil, more provocative, doppelganger likes to sport the more sexier look in this very, tight, black ensemble. Nina Dobrev plays both the characters, and she's hot as hell. A recent promo revealed that Katherine isn't very nice at all. 'Vampire Diaries' spoilers, Mystic Falls goes up in flames. With the summer season right around the corner, many of our favorite shows are quickly coming to a close. Unfortunately, "The Vampire Diaries" is one of them, but rest assured, the writers have a shocking finale in store for viewers.
The 22nd episode of The CW's hit series, created by Kevin Williamson ("Dawson's Creek"), is reportedly loaded with twist and turns that will leave fans guessing until the second season premieres in the fall. Once again, The Vampire Diaries produced. So much went down, I barely remember Damon being shirtless. Now that's impressive. Rather than do a straight recap, let's address this week's episode one issue at a time: • How evil is Isobel? We started out thinking completely, but looking back, if someone feels the need to keep telling everyone that she has no redeeming qualities, she probably does. She began by telling Alaric that there was no comfort or satisfying explanation she could give him for her wanting to become a vampire. She was just at the bar to see him because she...

Whatever it is, it doesn't work. " He said Pearl, "Thought she was stealing his vampire compass, but that was a pocket watch. That Jonathan Gilbert was a crazy scientist."...

'Beauty and the Beast' was the theme on last night's Vampire Diaries as we saw the return of Bonnie (Yay!), more snooping from Jon Gilbert (Booo!!!), and the seeds being laid for a Delena pairing. Oh and Stefan is up under the wagon now.
The Set Up
Stefan arrives at school with a new swag in his step. Everyone notices it, even Elena, who Stefan eases with news of him being back on the wagon. But it's a bold faced lie as Stefan goes to his trunk (after sending Elena off, of course) where he has packs of blood stored like a bagged lunch. So sad…
Damon has a meeting with Sheriff Forbes and Jon Gilbert, who reveal that the Mystic Falls Blood Bank was hit hard, which explains the blood bags in Stefan's car. Jon suggests that he and Damon work on the case. Of course, Damon...

Zap2it has the scoop on what's to come for "Gossip Girl," "90210," "The Vampire Diaries," "One Tree Hill," and "Smallville." Consider this your spoiler alert:
When "Gossip Girl" returns, so will Serena's dad. Billy Baldwin stars as William Van Der Woodsen, and he's not going to make things easy for Rufus when they bump into each other at Lily's aparment. In the season finale, Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) is back. Of course, she's never just in town for a visit -- she's got a definite agenda. Blair and Chuck's future together will hang in the balance, all leading up to a possible showdown on top of the Empire State Building. As previously reported, David Anders is coming on board The Vampire Diaries this spring in the role of Jonathan Gilbert, Elena and Jeremy's uncle.
In a new interview, the former Alias/Heroes/24 star spoke about his character, making it sound like neither Stefan nor Damon will be pleased to see him...
On his character: Just like his great grandfather, the original Jonathan Gilbert in 1864, he knows far too much about vampires, more than he should know about vampires. So I'm a know-it-all and I hold the information that I have over Damon and Stefan's heads threatening to expose them in Mystic Falls if they don't play ball with me. There is a lot more than that which I can't really go into.
On interactions with Damon: I've been having a lot of stuff with Damon, Ian Somerhalder's character, and my character is not at all afraid of Damon. We...

When The Vampire Diaries returns on March 25, viewers will quickly meet a pair of new characters.
First up: Harper. He's the vampire we got a glimpse of as the previous episode concluded, awakening and walking out of the tomb. Says producer Julie Plec:
"We'll... follow him on his journey as he sets up shop in Mystic Falls and who he sets up shop with."
Played by Sterling Sulieman, take a look at Harper from "A Few Good Men" below:
As for David Anders as Jonathan Gilbert? He'll guide Jeremy along a journey, one producer Kevin Williamson describes as "dark." He also says about the character:
"He surfaces when it comes time to sell [Jeremy and Elena's] dad's doctor's office, but he's [really] there because he wants something and he'll fight to the finish to get it."...

On Elena's mother/Alaric's wife: The next episode is very much about Elena's search to try to get to the bottom of who this woman is and how, if at all, she connects to Alaric.
On David Anders as Jonathan Gilbert: He's stepping in to fill the shoes on the Founders' Council, with there being a lack of Gilberts representing the founding families. Uncle John gets in there to stir things up.

While The CW is depriving us of new episodes of The Vampire Diaries until March 25, at least the network continues to release sneak peeks at key scenes and guest stars on the way.
Sexy case in point: Damon hooking up with Matt's mother.
Less sexy case in point, below: David Anders as Elena and Jeremy’s uncle, Jonathan Gilbert.
“When we started talking about this role, I immediately thought, ‘What about Sark from Alias?’ Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly. “We called his agent the next day and the day after that [the deal was] done.”
Anders, who has recently appeared on Heroes and 24, debuts on the April 15. He arrives in Mystic Falls in time for Elena and Jeremy to sell their father’s doctor office.
“He has to sign the escrow papers but he isn’t quite ready to give the office up,” said producer Kevin Williamson. “But like everyone else in town,...

Vampire Diaries execs didn't have to cut through any bloody red tape to cast David Anders as Elena and Jeremy's uncle, Jonathan Gilbert. "When we started talking about this role, I immediately thought, 'What about Sark from Alias?' executive producer Julie Plec recalls. "We called his agent the next day and the day after that done." It's fair to say Anders' arrival in Mystic Falls will be slightly more complicated. I'm not sure how we missed this story the other day, but in any event, one of Hollywood's busiest actors, David Anders, has joined the cast of The Vampire Diaries for a multi-episode arc.
The Ausiello Files on CW.com got the scoop that Anders, who has appeared most recently in recurring roles on Heroes and 24, as well as starring in indie flick The Revenant (review here), will play Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen)’s uncle, Jonathan Gilbert, who comes to Mystic Falls to “cause some trouble."
New episodes of The Vampire Diaries (click here for the official site) return to the CW Network on March 25th, and you can expect Anders to turn up on the show in April.

Don't feel sorry for David Anders. I know it seems like he's constantly getting killed off or written out of high-profile shows, but the guy always seems to land on his feet with another juicy new role on a popular series.
Just a few days after his most recent TV baddie bit the dust, TV Guide has confirmed that Anders is joining the cast of the CW hit 'The Vampire Diaries'.
Anders has been tapped to play Jonathan Gilbert, Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) uncle. But don't expect to see him acting like role a model for Mystic Fall's troubled teens. A source tells EW's Michael Ausiello that Uncle Jonathan is coming to town to "cause some trouble."

From Alias to Heroes to 24 to The Vampire Diaries...
David Anders is a guest star in demand. The actor, whose character was killed off the aforementioned Fox drama just a few days ago, has landed on his feet. Or, should we say, his fangs.
The veteran actor has landed a key role on The Vampire Diaries: He'll debut on the April 15 episode as Elena and Jeremy’s uncle, Jonathan Gilbert. A show insider tells Entertainment Weekly the character will “cause some trouble."
Yes, Jonathan Gilbert is the same name as the ancestor we saw in the series' last flashback installment. This is a different relative of Elena and Jeremy, but it's safe to assume he'll have the same issues with blood suckers as the original Jonathan.
The Vampire Diaries won't air a new episode until March 25. Sound off in our forum with your take on Anders joining the cast.

David Anders continues to do the TV rounds.
The actor, known for his roles on "Alias," "Heroes" and, most recently, "24," will join The CW's "Vampire Diaries" in April for several episodes.
The network confirms that Anders will play Elena and Jeremy's uncle, Jonathan Gilbert, who's definitely going to be rocking the Mystic Falls boat a bit.

24's loss is The Vampire Diaries' gain! David Anders, who (spoiler alert) permanently clocked out of 24 last night, has rebounded with a multi-episode arc on The CW smash, sources confirm to me exclusively. The Alias and Heroes alum will play Elena and Jeremy's uncle, Jonathan Gilbert, who comes to Mystic Falls to "cause some trouble," teases an insider. If that name sounds familiar, it's because, well, it should. Jonathan Gilbert is the name of Elena and Jeremy's circa-1800 ancestor. Old school Jonathan debuted via flashback earlier this month as played by Joe Knezevich. Look for Anders' present-day Jonathan to turn up in April.

Which is sexier: A cocky Damon or a broken Damon? After watching Ian Somerhalder lower his eyebrows to half-mast for an hour, I'm torn. But first things first... Kidnapped Elena came to in the hotel room with a sleeping Ben. All she had to do was open the door and step into the sun, but the sound of her unlocking it woke him up. He really is stupid: He tried to use mind compulsion to get her to promise not to attempt another escape, and she played along beautifully. When he turned his back, she opened the door, but Anna was there.

Children of the Damned Written By: Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec Directed By: Marcos Siega Original Airdate: 4 February 2010 In This Episode... ...we cut between 1864 and 2010. In 2010, it is all about Jonathan Gilbert's journal. Stefan confronts him and finds out that Aleric's wife was killed by Damon, but he is there for answers, not revenge. His wife's body was never found. Stefan works an uneasy bargain: he will protect Aleric from Damon if Stefan can take the journal. The journal has been taken by Anna, but luckily Aleric made a photocopy. In reading the journal, Stefan and Elena discover that Emily's grimoire is not...

We talk about it every week (in hopefully a different, colorful way), but it bears repeating: This show's pacing — the speed at which we're being given answers — is so satisfying that I genuinely believe my DVR would like to speak to me and say "thank you for letting me record this." It also has to tape Brothers & Sisters, and that show is the king of having killer previews for episodes that just end up spinning their wheels. When we see a preview for Vampire Diaries that looks juicy, as the one for this flashback episode did, we trust it. We were not disappointed.

"Children of the Damned" proved to be a well informing episode of The Vampire Diaries, due to it answering a lot of questions, while raising even more in the process. Anna's reasoning for wanting in the tomb? Check! More bitchy, evil Katherine? Check! Crazy ass cliffhannger? Double check.

So we picked up a breath from where we left off last week with a newly vamped Logan trying to enter the Gilbert residence through Jenna, who is not budging. Logan tries harder to work his charm on the lovelorn Jenna, but he screws up by getting to cocky and finds the door slamming in his face. Not deterred, he snacks on the closet thing he could find: a female jogger. I'm still trying to figure out who jogs that late at night…...

One of the most beloved series of the 1970s and 80s was Little House of the Prairie. Each week, millions of families tuned in to see the citizens of Walnut Grove survive some new frontier disaster or hardship. Well, in Finland, it turns out that the show is considered to be suitable for "adults-only."
Little House of the Prairie debuted on NBC on September 11, 1974. Based on the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the TV show centers around a hard-working frontier family; Charles (Michael Landon) and Caroline (Karen Grassle) Ingalls and their three girls -- Mary (Melissa Sue Anderson), Laura (Melissa Gilbert), and Carrie (Sidney and Lindsay Greenbush). Other memorable characters include Doc Baker (Kevin Hagen), Reverend Alden (Dabbs Greer) and the Oleson family (Richard Bull, Scottie MacGregor, Alison Arngrim, and Jonathan Gilbert), owners of the local mercantile.
The series has one of the most memorable series finales in TV history.
