Guy Gilpatric

Shot and killed his wife and then himself just hours after the couple learned she had a malignant brain tumor.
Prior to his writing career, Gilpatric worked in the advertising business and later ran a flying school in Los Angeles.
Lived on the French Riviera through much of the 1920s and 30s, returning to America at the outbreak of the Second World War.
Served as a captain with the American Expeditionary Force during the First World War.
Remembered for his Glencannon stories that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post for many years.
