- Became a father for the 3rd time at age 53 when his girlfriend [now 2nd wife] Inés Carbacho gave birth to their son Piero Gnecco on February, 2016.
- Gnecco's character is shown speaking French in the film Neruda. Along with this, in real life he is proficient in Portuguese, Italian, and English besides his native Spanish, as shown by his fluency in foreign media interviews.
- Luis Gnecco studied biology at the University of Chile for three years: his professors included internationally-renowned neuroscientists Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela. He entertained his classmates and even his instructors with his jokes and impressions of professors on campus. He had not considered a career in the arts until another student persuaded him to try acting.
