We absolutely can’t wait for April 5th when “Shazam!” will be gracing the big screen and will certainly be an uplifting addition to the DC Extended Universe. The second official trailer for the film has dropped and from what we can see, “Shazam!” will be the perfect blend of both action and comedy that spells out box office success!
You can check out the second official trailer below:
About “Shazam!”
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—Shazam!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou). Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them!

The latest entry into the Dceu, ‘Shazam!‘ has officially begun filming. Although Director David F. Sandberg tweeted some images from the set last week, it seems that New Line has confirmed the film has begun shooting with the release of an official synopsis and a full cast list for the film. This will be the first time that the character formerly known as Captain Marvel (it’s a complicated story) will get the big screen treatment.
In case you are unaware, ‘Shazam!‘ follows the character of Billy Batson, who upon saying the words “Shazam”, transforms himself into an adult superhero who has increased strength, the ability to fly, super speed, among other abilities. Zachary Levi (‘Chuck’) stars as the titular hero, while Asher Angel will play young Billy Batson. In addition to Levi and Angel, the stellar cast includes Mark Strong as the villainous Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, It breakout Jack Dylan Grazer...

Two films forgotten by the Academy, the animated adventure "The Lego Movie" and the Roger Ebert Documentary "Life Itself," triumphed at the recently concluded 2015 Producers Guild Awards.
"The Lego Movie" took home the Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures for producer Dan Lin while "Life Itself" won the Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures for producers Garrett Basch, Steve James, and Zak Piper.
Meanwhile, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, John Lesher, and James W. Skotchdopole took the Oscar glitter away from Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" when "Birdman" was awarded the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.
The Oscars just got interesting! Will "Boyhood" triumph over "Birdman" at the Academy Awards?

Movies made by women directors were snubbed by the Producers Guild of America when they announced the nominees today! Both "Selma" by Ava DuVernay and "Unbroken" by Angelina Jolie were left in the dust. I agree with not nominating the latter movie (sorry Ms. Jolie but "Unbroken" is too earnest for my taste) but "Selma" deserved a nod! It's a profound movie aided by DuVernay's skilled directing and David Oyelowo's fine performance as Martin Luther King Jr.
You know who I'm blaming for this? Paramount! The studio did not send screeners to Academy voters. Heck, they did not sent one to us, the Broadcast Film Critics Association. But after begging, they did send a link so I could watch "Selma" in time for our Critics' Choice Movie Award nominations.
"Selma" is a "late to the party" entry that is gaining momentum dashed by the PGA! If you remember, Clint Eastwood...

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) added to the industry mix Monday morning with a list of 10 nominees to keep the awards season grist mill churning. "Gone Girl" popped up again, and it shouldn't be a surprise. It's one of the year's biggest hits. And speaking of hits, I had a hunch "Nightcrawler" would find a place after becoming such a well-liked, profitable success. There it sits. The question for both of these films is whether this on-going industry/guild love ends up translating to Oscar recognition. After the "Dragon Tattoo" rush a few years ago, I'm pretty much wait-and-see on stuff like this. Absent from the list was anything out of the Marvel Studios comic book factory, notable as both "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" were both on the top tier of box office earners in 2014. The former currently maintains the throne, though it...

12 Years A Slave and Gravity have tied at this year’s PGA. With American Hustle taking the SAG ensemble on Saturday night, we have a bonafide Best Picture race on our hands folks! This is the first tie for the top film in Producers Guild Award history.
The PGA split keeps the Oscar race wide open in one of the tightest three-way battles in years, with “American Hustle” still in the game following a week of big showings at the Golden Globes, Oscar nominations and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Tonight the Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced this year’s winning motion picture and television productions at the 25th Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Plenty of groups give out awards for excellence in film and television at the end of every year, but no set of nominations is watched more carefully by Oscar predictors than the picks from the Producers Guild. That’s because year after year their choices end up being a fairly good indicator of which films will also be granted Best Picture nominations when the Academy makes their selections.
The Guild has announced their 2014 nominations today and there aren’t really any major surprises here. All the expected films are present, including 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Animated films that nabbed nominations are The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen and Monsters University. Included in the documentary nominations are A Place at the Table, Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story, Life According to Sam, We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks...

The Producers Guild of America has accurately forecast the last six Best Picture Oscar winners, so it was good news for 10 films that were nominated today for the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award. While Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and American Hustle were among the films that made the cut, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Butler, and Fruitvale Station did not. Last year, eight of the 10 movies that received nods from the PGA went on to earn Oscar nominations for Best Picture.

HBO has renewed comedy series Veep for a 10-episode third season, which will air next year. The pickup comes on the heels of the Washington DC-set comedy hitting a season high in total viewers this past Sunday, drawing 1.3 million viewers, up from 1.1 million on April 21 and 1.2 million for the season debut April 14. Created by Armando Iannucci, Veep stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President Selina Meyer, a role which earned her an Emmy last year. The ensemble cast includes Tony Hale as Gary, the Vice President’s right-hand man; Anna Chlumsky as Amy, her chief of staff; Reid Scott as Dan, an ambitious political aide; Matt Walsh as Mike, the VP’s weathered spokesperson; Timothy C. Simons as Jonah, an enterprising but annoying White House liaison; Sufe Bradshaw as Sue, Meyers’ executive assistant; and Kevin Dunn as Ben, the president’s chief of staff. The New York Times reports that former Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been attached to play the U.S. Vice President in a new HBO comedy series that is expected to debut in the fall of 2012, titled Veep.
The show's creator, Oscar nominated writer Armando Iannucci, said that Dreyfus' character, 'Selina Meyer', a U.S. senator who gets elected to the office of the Vice President of the United States, was not based on anyone who has ever held a White House position. "I wanted to precisely say that this person isn't an existing person in high office. It's not a satire on Biden. It's not a satire on Cheney. When people talk about who are the presidential contenders for two years' time, there are so many female politicians there, that actually nobody bats an eyelid about it now..." Iannucci said.

In 88 slam-bang minutes, one already proven talent (Chow Yun-Fat), a newcomer to watch (director Antoine Fuqua) and a starlet-on-the-rise (Mira Sorvino) go on a cinematic rampage with many moods and muzzle-to-muzzle showdowns.
The unambiguous title "The Replacement Killers" and imaginative casting should get the attention of genre followers, but this strong Columbia release will probably find many more fans on home-viewing formats and cable.
A tailor-made debut in a major American production for international star Chow ("A Better Tomorrow", "Hard Boiled"), "Replacement Killers" is a visual treat in glossy widescreen, reminiscent of Hong Kong films but with classy production values, seductive music choices, crackerjack sound work and a small but excellent group of gunslinging performers who take their jobs seriously.
Consider Chow, who fires countless rounds with an array of weapons. His character is a Chinese hit man forced to work for a ruthless crime boss (Kenneth Tsang) in a nameless metropolis with many recognizable Los Angeles locations.
Although one is amused from time to time by such Hollywood touches as downtown's Union Station being used as an airport terminal, "Replacement Killers" is serious, bloody entertainment. Fuqua does not use as much slow motion as executive producer John Woo does in his explosively violent films, but the first-time director unleashes a full agenda of pursuits, close calls and messy shootouts.
The screenplay by Ken Sanzel is short on dialogue and long on elaborate firefights between rogue gunman John Lee Chow) and the henchmen of Tsang's character. In a beautifully understated scene, Lee is unable to pull the trigger on his final job when his conscience makes him pause. His target is the family of a tough cop (Michael Rooker) who killed the son of Lee's boss.
A target himself for not completing his task and fearing for the safety of his own family, Lee seeks out a forger to help expedite his leaving the country. Enter tough gal Meg Coburn (Sorvino), a fast-thinking, fast-shooting loner with a fierce demeanor and take-charge attitude.
They've barely stared each other down and started doing business when the bad guys burst in and the chase is on. In a car wash and old movie theater and Buddhist temple the fast-moving tale unfolds, with simple motivations for the mostly untalkative characters.
In the action scenes as well as the quieter moments, Chow and Sorvino are well-matched, with the latter proving to be a real tigress with big-time sex appeal. Learning English for the film, Chow is commanding and effortlessly charismatic. There's no romance between the two, but the film doesn't need it.
