"Ike was very serious about his music, and rehearsed and practiced every day." Kino Lorber has debuted an official trailer for a music documentary titled The Changin' Times of Ike White, profiling the life and times and songs of Ike White. This premiered at the Camden Film Festival and IDFA last year, and it also played at Doc NYC last fall. Ike White was a musical prodigy serving life in prison since age 19. His luck changed when he had the opportunity to record in prison the album called Changin' Times (the first ever commercial album recorded inside an American prison by an inmate - in 1976) with War producer Jerry Goldstein. Decades later, filmmaker Daniel Vernon tracks down White out of prison, living in obscurity, and the story takes dramatic twists. "You'll want to buy a ticket and see it before your friends discover it first and tell you about it.

HollywoodNews.com: Rock icon Sly Stone is Not homeless even though he’s living in a van. The New York Post story that’s caused such a sensation was paid for by the writer of the piece. I can tell you both of these truths are according to a source close to Stone. This isn’t to say that Sly–real name Sylvester Stewart–isn’t in perilous financial shape. It’s also not to say that his $50 million lawsuit against former manager Jerry Goldstein isn’t valid. I’ve been writing about Goldstein’s abuse of Stone for years–I wrote about it in the New York Post at least 15 years ago.
And Goldstein is famous for his financial problems with former clients–the group War is primary among them. But just to clarify–Sly is living in that van by his own choice. My source says that Sly’s attorney,...

hollywoodnews.com: Sly and the Family Stone former lead singer Sly Stone (nee Sylvester Stewart) is now homeless in Los Angeles, according to a recent interview with the New York Post. The 68-year old musician once owned a 5,432 square foot home in Beverly Hills, as well as a Napa Valley estate (complete with vineyard) which he inhabited as recently as four years ago.
Despite his current living arrangements, which involve sleeping in a van in the Crenshaw area of the city, Stone continues to make music, and is supported by a staff of one (the son of a family who supplies him with a daily meal and a shower). The band’s official breakup in 1975 marked the beginning of an immediate decline for Stone, yet his drug habit and a number of other eccentricities were sustained for nearly 35 years through royalties from the band’s fame. Stone's lawyer filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles on Thursday, telling The Wrap that Stone sign a contract with Goldstein in 1989, making him his manager. The agreement also signed over the rights to the singer's music catalogue to Goldstein.
The ex-manager also allegedly registered the band's name with authorities as his own to use as collateral to borrow money.
Stone is asking the court for the full accounts from royalty collection companies to determine exactly how much had been taken from him.
