- He first studied publicity design in Brussels. After working two years as a publicity designer, he went to Antwerp to study drama.
- Has two daughters: Nelly Goossens (born 15 June 1977) and Lisbeth Goossens (born 26 April 1979).

- Goossens has alopecia. By 1990, when he starred in the sitcom F.C. De Kampioenen at age 37, he had lost most of his hair and his hair went gray. His natural hair color was dark blond, which can be seen before the sitcom and which can still be seen during the Kampioenen's first season.
- Was named Carry by his aunt and kept the pet name as his artist name.
