- In 1981 after the success of Dostana and Naseeb, producer Yash Johar had launched John Jani Janardhan (Ringo) with a lot fanfare with Manmohan Desai as the director. Starring Amitabh Bachchan,Mithun Chakraborthy (Replaced Randhir Kapoor), Kamal Hassan (Replaced Rishi Kapoor). The film's title was from the song of Manmohan Desai's Naseeb's song, but this film was shelved without any reason. Then in the year 1984, director T.Rama Rao made a film with Rajnikant and he used the same tittle.

- Dev Anand and Kamal Haasan were to do a film together titled Do Diwane Pyar Mein. Starring Dev Anand,Kamal Haasan, Reena Roy,Padmini Kholapure. It was an outside production, but this film was shelved. It was to be made by producer,director Prakash Verma, who wrote the story of Loot Maar. Dev Anand insisted he just verbally gave the okay and was yet to hear the story or get a signing amount . Dev simply gave him an okay about the film. Verma on the other hand told the media he gave the signing amounts and got bulk dates of Dev Anand and Kamal Haasan .
- Wanted to make a film with Saif Ali Khan titled "Amar Hai" in 2013. All plans were dropped.

- Tito Juneja claimed he had bought the Hindi remake rights of Payanangal Mudivathillai . He was to make the film with Kumar Gaurav in 1983. But producer Subba Rao claimed he owned the remake rights and was going to start the film with Kamal Haasan in the lead. The films were eventually never made.
