It was in the 1990′s that Sir John Hall held a utopian fantasy of watching a team of Geordies to run out at St James’ Park in black and white shirts. It didn’t quite come to pass for the former Magpies chairman with barely a dozen locally reared players progressing through the ranks to make the grade in the first-team.
Without a Newcastle native to invest their hopes in Toon fans have instead resorted to making honorary Geordies out of the foreign imports that have played for the club in the Premier League, many of whom have gone on to enjoy cult hero status and are still widely revered.
While many of overseas recruits, most bought on a whim and for sky-high sums, will stick in the memory for all the wrong reasons we feel there are 10 players that have made significant...

Former model Jerry Hall has spoken for the first time about how her drug addict father left her with "broken bones".
The former partner of Sir Mick Jagger blames former U.S. Army sergeant John Hall for her violent childhood.
She recalls how her father would "burst into rages" when he returned to their modest Mesquite, Texas home.
She says, "He would talk to us like soldiers. He was very imaginative in his insults and that is hard to get over.
"I'm not trying to be vindictive but he certainly gave us a hard time.
"He was very violent. He had to drive explosive chemicals across the country and took uppers (chemical stimulants) and would come home and beat us five girls. He broke bones."
But Hall defends her father's actions, insisting his job as a truck driver drove him to become violent.
She adds, "He had a terrible upbringing and his father drank and his mother died when he was a baby - you try to understand why someone became so violent."
"Horrible things happened to my father. He had to release people from a prison of war camp and found 18,000 dead bodies. It is a terrible thing to be living in fear and he would abuse us verbally too."...
