The spy action comedy franchise Spy Kids is probably something that forms a synonym to all the millennials’ childhood — back in the 2000s the story about two children getting to solve the world’s problems made millions of same-age kids across the world dream about abilities like this.
Perhaps most of the viewers were so captivated by Carmen and Juni’s figures much more than by those of their parents that they didn’t even notice a shocking detail about the children’s screen mom.
The first movie of the franchise was released back in 2001 and introduced the main characters that form a family of four — Ingrid and Gregorio Cortez, portrayed by Carla Gugino and Antonio Banderas respectively, and their two kids Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara).

"As long as I'm alive, all of you shall live." Netflix has revealed the trailer for the Brazilian horror comedy called A Vampire in the Family, from Brazilian filmmaker Ale McHaddo. The original Portuguese title translates directly to My Brother-in-Law is a Vampire, which is also exactly what the film is about. When a fainthearted ex-soccer player learns his brother-in-law is a vampire with world domination plans, he must gather his courage and save the day. Fernandinho is a family man, former football player and podcaster who is surprised by the visit of his inconvenient brother-in-law, Gregorio, a lazy bloodsucker who it turns out is literally a vampire. Leandro Hassum stars as Fernandinho, with Romulo Arantes Neto as Greg, plus Monique Alfradique, Edson Celulari, Mel Maia, Maria Flor Franco, Eliezer Motta, Renata Bras and Antônio Fragoso. This looks extremely goofy & extra cheesy, but might still be entertaining to watch. // Continue...

Carmen, Juni, and the rest of the Cortez family are back for another butt-kicking spy adventure. In April, Netflix announced that Robert Rodriguez, the original director of the 2000s action films, signed on to write and direct an upcoming "Spy Kids" reboot movie. Skydance Media optioned the film rights to Netflix with the intention of reimagining the spy thriller for a modern audience, according to Variety.
Officially titled "Spy Kids: Armageddon," the new project will be the fifth installment in the "Spy Kids" franchise, following the original 2001 "Spy Kids" and it's three sequels: "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams," "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over," and "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World." If you've ever stared off into the distance pondering the complexities of Steve Buscemi's deeply existential quote in "Spy Kids 2," or if you're still waiting on that instant Happy Meal microwave to hit the market,...

If there is anything surprising about Jackass it’s that there is still life in the formula and Johnny Knoxville is still a part of it. The fact is though Bad Grandpa shows that the concept that actually still work and can evolve into something a little more substantial. Basing the stunts around two characters and sticking to a storyline may sound like a risky move, but surprisingly it works.
The story basic as it is sees Johnny Knoxville play the part of Irving Zisman who when his wife dies thinks he’s finally got his freedom and can do what he wants. When his daughter ends up in prison though he soon finds himself stuck with his grandson Billy (Jackson Nicoll) who...

Everyone’s heard of the Jackass movies even if they haven’t seen them. Movies where people with an extremely high pain threshold put their minds and bodies to the test in various dares and pranks. These movies have been put to the test in the public’s eye as an interactive form of movie watching where the main characters (in what could almost be considered a documentary style) play pranks on the public and on each other and, so far, the films have been welcomed into society.

This week sees the release of "Paul," Simon Pegg & Nick Frost's outrageous comic road movie where they play two British sci-fi nerds in America who help a rowdy alien (Seth Rogen) get back to his home planet. Over the course of their journey they inevitably get their minds blown in many ways, although Paul's love of super-strong Mary Jane is definitely involved at one point.

Wristcutters: A Love Story Dir. Goran Dukic (2006) A slight digression: musician and sometime actor, Eugene Hutz, best known for his work as Gogol Bordello's frontman and as Alex in the film version of Everything is Illuminated, must have the charisma of 1000 suns. Or the type of charisma that inspires people to become obsessed with him. There's a documentary on him, The Pied Piper of Hutzovina, and Madonna's debut as a director, Filth and Wisdom, is mostly centered around Hutz. Wristcutters: A Love Story, has a central character of Eugene, a Russian musician played by actor Shea Whigham, who is based on Hutz. Imagine how charismatic and interesting Hutz must be to inspire so many people's art... Mindboggling, right? And in Wristcutters, Eugene shows our hero, Zia (an all-grown-up Patrick Fugit), around the afterlife limbo for suicides where the movie is set. Based on the short story Kneller's Happy Campers...

People kill themselves to free themselves of life and its woes, but what if the act just throws you into a new world where almost everything is the same, but worse?
In Wristcutters: A Love Story, Patrick Fugit plays Zia, a young man who kills himself after a breakup and finds himself "living" in a limbo world reserved for suicide victims. It's not exactly hell, but more like an abysmal industrial landscape where you still work and socialize, but you just don't smile. In this afterlife, he finds out that his ex -- who he believed to be living life and mourning his death -- killed herself as well. Desperate for a reunion, he grabs his strange Russian friend and sets out to find her. However, as often happens with ill-conceived road trips of love, Zia meets another girl who joins their journey, Mikael (Shannyn Sossamon), who confuses his romantic objective.

A movie's premise might be its most important piece. If you have a killer premise, it's hard to make a movie any worse than mediocre; by contrast, if you have a terrible premise, it's hard to make a movie any better than mediocre. Wristcutters: A Love Story, based on a novella by Israeli writer and filmmaker Etgar Keret, has a killer premise. It's about the afterlife for suicides, and it's one of the best afterlife movies out there, better than What Dreams May Come (rating: 61) and The Lovely Bones, and up there with Albert Brooks's Defending Your Life (rating: 76). Patrick Fugit plays Zia, who kills himself at the beginning of the movie. In narration, he explains that he killed himself in depression over breaking up with his girlfriend, whom we meet in flashbacks. After he arrives in the afterlife,...
