London, Sep 17 (Ians) The England and Wales Cricket Board (Ecb) reportedly splurged 60,000 pounds on mock interrogation sessions focused on cricketer Azeem Rafiq’s racism allegations ahead of the questioning by UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (Dcms).
Rafiq, who played for Yorkshire between 2008 and 2018, claimed that the racial abuse he suffered left him close to committing suicide and that his reports of abuse were “ignored” by the club at the time.
In the aftermath of Rafiq’s allegations, the Yorkshire County Cricket Club (Yccc) removed the entire coaching staff, including Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon and First XI coach Andrew Gale.
A report in Daily Mail on Saturday said, “The Ecb ‘wasted’ 60,000 pounds on mock interrogation session focused on Azeem Rafiq’s racism allegations ahead of questioning by the Dcms, despite the organisation sanctioning job cuts.”

London, Sep 3 (Ians) Former England women’s captain Clare Connor on Saturday said she will not be applying for the job of chief executive at the England and Wales Cricket Board (Ecb) on a permanent basis.
Clare has been in the chief executive role on an interim basis since June this year after Tom Harrison, appointed to the job in 2014, stepped down. Under Clare, the Ecb introduced its ambitious The Hundred competition, which started last year.
“I’ve actually decided not to apply for it. I let the board and my colleagues on the leadership team know this week. It’s been an incredible honour to do it for these three months so far and I’ll obviously be as devoted as I can be in the interim role for as long as I’m needed,” said Clare to BBC Radio 5 Live.

London, Nov 26 (Ians) The England and Wales Cricket Board (Ecb) has announced a series of new measures to drive out discrimination, some of which are 'a new independent commission for equality in cricket', 'a forum for race in cricket' and 'a new equality code of conduct'.
The measures, which form part of a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plan that will be introduced in the coming months, were approved by the Ecb board on Tuesday.
According to the Ecb, the independent commission will assist the board "in assessing the evidence of inequalities and discrimination of all forms within cricket, and the actions needed to tackle these issues".
An independent chairman will lead the commission which will also have independent members. The role of the commission involves bringing in "a diversity of thought and experience to provide constructive input and challenge to the Ecb and the wider game".
