Eve paid tribute to Natalie Desselle following the B.A.P.S actress’ death on Monday.
“Can’t believe it. Rest in Peace @nataliedessellereid thank you for your light and spirit. Prayers, peace and blessings. Please pray for her family,” The Talk co-host captioned an Instagram post of Desselle smiling.
From 2003 to 2006 the two actresses starred together in Meg DeLoatch’s Upn sitcom Eve. Desselle starred as Janie Egins, a friend of Eve’s protagonist Shelley Williams. On the show Desselle’s Janie helped Eve’s Shelley identify the new face of their new clothing line, prepare for upcoming fashion shows and more. Desselle and Eve also starred alongside Jason George, Ali Landry, Brian Hooks and Sean Maguire.
Desselle’s manager Dolores Robinson confirmed the actress’ death on social media earlier on Monday. She was 53.
“Natalie Desselle the beautiful talented actress passed away this morning. Natalie was a bright light.

Back in June, I did an interview with up and coming Chicago based filmmaker Christopher Nolen (Here), which proved that you don’t have to be in N.Y. or L.A. to achieve your filmmaking dreams. His latest project, which he discussed in the interview, "72 Hours," with an ensemble cast featuring Harry Lennix, Timon Kyle Durrett, Erica Hubbard, Terri J. Vaughn, Cynda Williams, Brian Hooks, Chyna Layne, Brely Evans, Tangi Miller, and Thea Camara and is set to be released later this year. The first official trailer for the film was released yesterday and is embedded below. The film deals with a reformed womanizer (Durrett) living the good life with a...

You'll recognize a lot of the names and faces in this trailer for the upcoming feature film The Love Section, which is described as "a feel good romantic dramedy" slated for a fall 2012 release; I'm just not sure any of that will matter, after you watch the below trailer embedded. The film stars Brian Hooks, Omar Miller, Tangi Miller, Kellita Smith, Teyana Taylor, Mekhi Phifer, Lawrence Adisa, and Davetta Sherwood. I'll let the trailer speak for itself:...

A couple of flicks we've been talking about for quite some time are finally hitting store shelves this week including the animated Dante's Inferno, the long-awaited Dead Tone (formerly known as 7eventy 5ive) from directors Brian Hooks and Deon Taylor, and the three-disc exploitation extravaganza known as Shock Festival from Stephen Romano (with a couple of commentaries from our own Uncle Creepy).
Rounding out the list are two volumes of Bad Girls of Film Noir, some unknown quantities such as 9 Lives of Mara and Butchered, the provocative and stylized Bronson, a Blu-ray release of Running Man, and the 1999 "Masterpiece Mystery" thriller series Second Sight starring Clive Owen. Okay, technically those last two aren't straight horror, but with all the Arnold and Clive fans we have on the site, I figured enough people would want to know about them that they warranted inclusion.

If Tyler Perry had a horror counterpart, his name would be Deon Taylor. The man knows his audience and churns out films non-stop. Taylor, who gave us Nite Tales (an urban horror anthology with Flavor Flav), the upcoming Nite Tales 2 and Chain Letter shepherded a new thriller this year called Dead Tone . Co-directed by and starring Brian Hooks (Taylor also directs), the premise is simple: College kids start a prank phone call game and invite evil to f**k with their lives. Josh Hammond ( Jeepers Creepers 2 ) co-stars as does...Rutger Hauer. We've got the trailer below. As you'll see, it's part of the Nite Tales brand. Dead Tone arrives on DVD February 9 from Screen Media.

Ever see a little anthology film called Nite Tales? It was the one that starred Flava Flav introducing tales of carnage Crypt Keeper style. Though Flav nearly crippled the movie (boy did he come close), what made it work was the passion of director Deon Taylor. We've got the skinny on another project from Taylor that's been kicking around for a while now.
According to Screen Daily Screen Media Films has struck a distribution partnership with Deon Taylor Enterprises/Vista Taylor for the thriller Dead Tone, which stars Rutger Hauer, Jud Tylor, Antwon Tanner, and Brian Hooks (who co-directed) and was formerly known as 7eventy 5ive.

The writer-director is gearing up for Dead Tone starring Rutger Hauer, Jud Tylor, Antwon Tanner and Brian Hooks. Much like Chain Letter , the thriller is inspired by an exhausted urban legend. While Deon Taylor’s Twisted Pictures slasher opus Chain Letter still awaits a confirmed release date, one of the director’s earlier fright flicks is now headed for theaters. Deon Taylor Enterprises/Vista Taylor will bring Dead Tone to select cities beginning September 3, and have made a deal for the home releases as well.
Originally titled 7Eventy 5Ive (and previously set for January 2008 U.S. DVD release by CodeBlack Entertainment under that moniker), Dead Tone is the supposedly fact-based story of college students who engage in a prank-calling contest; the object is to scare the person at the other end for 75 seconds. Unfortunately for them, one of the people they ring up is a psychopath who doesn’t think their game is very funny. Taylor helmed the film with Brian Hooks (who also stars) from a script they wrote with Vashon Nutt; the cast additionally includes Jud Tylor, Cherie Johnson,...

Touted as coming from the co-writer of "Friday" and the producers of "Dumb & Dumber," "3 Strikes" is definitely a repeat offender -- a criminally unfunny, crude pile of unpleasantness steeped in crass, blatant stereotypes.
Written and directed by D.J. Pooh, who shared screenplay credit with Ice Cube on the original "Friday", the urban comedy leaves little doubt as to where the true talent lay in the collaboration.
While some may be taken in by the name-dropping, it's more likely that its target demo will steer clear of this lame impostor, resulting in a hasty video lockup.
Taking its inspiration from former California Gov. Pete Wilson's 1994 AB 971 (a k a the Three Strikes law), the picture centers around the trials and tribulations of Rob Douglas (Brian Hooks), who has just been released from L.A. County Jail after serving time for his second infraction. He's well aware that one more conviction will result in a 25-year-to-life sentence but nevertheless manages to land in instant hot water when he's met at the prison gates by J.J. (De'Aundre Bonds), whose stolen car gets pulled over by an LAPD cruiser.
Not going down without a fight, J.J. opens fire at the cops while Rob makes a narrow getaway on foot, but by the time he makes it home to his less-than-hospitable Moms (Starletta DuPois) and Pops (George Wallace), his face is all over the news.
He also manages to encounter little sympathy from his girlfriend Juanita (N'Bushe Wright) while Detective Jenkins David Alan Grier) begins closing in on his not-so-elusive shootout suspect.
If there was a three strikes law in effect for over-the-top performances, lead Hooks would be an ideal candidate for his mugging alone. As it turns out, the rest of the cast is no less guilty of playing the fool, including veteran newsman Jerry Dunphy, who freely plays himself. At least the others could sort of hide behind their cliched characters.
But as the chief perpetrator of the whole operation, first-time director D.J. Pooh must shoulder the bulk of the blame. While "Friday" and it's even more popular sequel, "Next Friday", will never win any awards for breaking new ground, they have a goofy charm and likable characters that make up for some of their more sophomoric excesses.
Aside from going for some kind of record for its use of the "n" word, the only thing the laugh-deprived "3 Strikes" will ever be accused of breaking is a lot of wind.
