My wife knows how to make me smile: she just gave me some shoeshine cloths featuring Edward Everett Horton on the package! As a fan and connoisseur of character actors from Hollywood’s golden age, nothing could please me more. And who knows, maybe I’ll even use the disposable wipes to make my shoes look better. I don’t imagine the people at The Decent Man’s Grooming Tools could identify Mr. Horton: whoever designed their product line probably looked for amusing shots in a photo morgue, and that’s that. If the researcher had been more movie-savvy he or she might have sought out a pose of Arthur Treacher, who, after all, was the ultimate movie butler. (He even played P.G. Wodehouse’s...

Last week’s True Blood served up a host of shocking moments, including a cop shooting his friend and lady-love in the head, a gruesome beheading, and a very pregnant woman violently stabbing the father of her child to death in a demonic ritual. But the episode’s climactic scene – where a band of drugged-up vampires crashed a Bourbon Street karaoke bar and devoured the wedding party enjoying a round of “You Light Up My Life” inside – is the scene that has many viewers talking. And some of those viewers are talking about calling it quits on the series.
Throughout television history, many shows have lived and died based on their ability to balance shock with reassurance: play it too safe, and the show is dull and lifeless; push too far into squirm-inducing territory, and you risk alienating your audience. It's a tightrope walk that has claimed its fair share...

Around here, we love it when people get lost in the woods and the only thing that turns up is their sandals. It's even better when the only thing to survive is their cameras.
Whether they run into a ghost, a witch, a family of cannibals, or even a Kardashian or two, it's always fun to see what survives.
Indie filmmaker Jason Horton took a few minutes to talk with us about his latest movie Monsters In The Woods (review) and what happens when a film crew goes up against more than just a deadline.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to talk with us. We know you’re busy with Monsters In The Woods hitting shelves on February 21st (and currently available on VOD), so we really appreciate whatever time you can spare for us.
No trouble at all. This stuff is a...

Not much to say here, other than I thought the scenes of a drugged out Chris revealing his innermost thoughts to be cute and funny. We don’t get to see Chris in comedic moments very often, but James Mason handled it well. I thought it was interesting how Chris prattled on about how much he liked Aiden, clearly a setup for their forthcoming romance. I’m not sure if Chris and Aiden have much chemistry, but then again, it hasn’t had a chance to develop yet. I guess we’ll see as the story moves forward.
Hollyoaks
I really think Hollyoaksdropped the ball in regards to Brendan’s handling of Declan. It’s true that Declan shouldn’t develop Brendan’s less than desirable habits and Brendan should deter that behavior in his son. But the show seems to be saying Brendan can...
