Arachnophobia has been labeled a 90s classic in the eyes of horror fans. Not only does it have a perfect execution of spine-chilling horror, but it also manages to balance it with excellent comedy. Considering just how iconic the film was, many were concerned when it was announced that the film would be getting a remake.
A stil from Arachnophobia
However, since James Wan will be heading the project, their worries have been put at ease. The director has an impressive track record with horror, having been behind projects like The Conjuring series, The Nun films, Annabelle, and Saw.
Reminiscing back to the original movie, Jeff Daniels, who played the role of Dr. Ross Jennings, talked about his experience working on the original film.

There’s a moment in Arachnophobia where Jeff Daniels’ Dr Ross Jennings, lying in bed one night worried his new hometown of Canaima is under attack from venomous spiders, spots an eight-legged intruder lurking in plain sight on his bedroom wall. The scene builds to a terrifying crescendo when the panic-stricken Jennings, who has a pathological fear of spiders, decides to confront the arachnid – only to discover it’s a coat hook.
It’s a prime example of the power Arachnophobia still possesses, 30 years on from its release. The power to have audiences breaking out in cold sweats one minute and fits of laughter the next.
The story of an ordinary American town that becomes infested with a deadly new species of spider unwittingly transported over from the Amazon rainforest, Arachnophobia might have been a very different prospect in the hands of another filmmaker.
Fortunately, Arachnophobia had Frank Marshall at the helm.

Some of the scariest films ever made……
Yet none of these films are as terrifying as Watership Down – also known as the Hampshire Bunny Massacre.
As part of our 31 Days Of Horror celebration of all things macabre, we take a look at some of the most frightening and shocking moments in family friendly movies.
Star Wars: The Original Trilogy (1975-1983)
Shocking Moment: A Farewell to Arms
Despite all being rated U, the original Star Wars trilogy features plenty of violent scenes – most of which involving the frequent dismemberment of hands or arms.
During the battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back, Luke’s hand is lopped off at the wrist by a well placed lightsabre swipe. It’s clearly a painful moment for Luke…...

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
There’s nothing more relaxing than a massage. And of course, the natural close second: watching some horrible mutation running amok, destroying whole cities and eating the faces right off the less important characters. Third would have to be aromatherapy and Gregorian chant music. So along those lines, and in honor of the deliciously freaky Splice, we decided to put together a list of the best homicidal creepy crawlies in movies. Feel free to use this list as a guideline for relaxation after a long, stressful day. Hot cocoa…screaming…a nice warm fire…bones crunching…
7. The Photosensitives in Pitch Black (2000)
Recap:a space ship crashes on a sun-baked alien world and maroons a group of survivors, including a violent murderer (Vin Diesel). After some initial exploration and an unfortunate death or two, the survivors figure out that there are millions of horrible,...

Ahhh, one of our favorite sub genres. The fabled dark horror comedies that many of us grew up with and still love to this day. This was a list we have actually been working for quite some time, trying to pick just 10 and then put them in order was not an easy task. And we know you Bidites all to well, you will add and take away from this list for sure but that's the fun part of doing these...
#10. Gremlins (1984)
Oh, the days of amazing animatronics are long gone *sad face*. Gremlins have a great mixture of comedy, action, lovable characters and a great concept. It starts off as a cute family film then it just changes into a hilarious, frightening monster movie. The start of director’s Joe Dante’s horror comedies, Dante really shines mixing the two styles in this film. This is a cult classic and should definitely be checked out.
