Mahesh Manjrekar’s Kaksparsh was named the Best Marathi Feature Film at the recently concluded Pune International Film Festival. Manjrekar and co-producer Aniruddha Deshpande won a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.

A Special Tribute to cinematographer Rajen Kothari has been organized by the students and faculty of Whistling Woods International on 16th October at 4:30 pm in their Goregaon campus.
The programme will include screening of films like Damul, Tukaram, Das Capital and Purush.
Filmmakers like Subhash Ghai, Shyam Benegal and Prakash Jha would be present at the occasion.
Films will be screened from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, while an interactive session ‘Rajenji’s Memorial’ will be held from 2:30 pm onwards.

He had worked as a cinematographer for 26 films, including Well Done Abba, Zubeida, Blue Oranges, Welcome to Sajjanpur, and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero.

Well-known cinematographer Rajen Kothari, who has worked on films like Ghayal, Zubeida, Welcome To Sajjanpur, etc. died yesterday due to a massive heart-attack. He was 60 years old. Kothari, who was heading the cinematography department at Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods International film school since the last 7 years, collapsed at the school itself when he suffered a heart-attack yesterday evening. Even though he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead. B-town celebs expressed their grief on Twitter. Shabana Azmi tweeted, "Cinematographer Rajen Kothari no more- too young to go. An excellent Dop and a fine man. We did Godmother 2gether. Veteran cinematographer Rajen Kothari died of a cardiac arrest yesterday. Reportedly, the 60 year old cinematographer was rushed to a hospital after he suffered an attack at the Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International film school. He was the head of the cinematography department of the film school. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
