Was one of the voices for the "Mind the Gap" warnings on England's London Underground for decades until 1st November 2012. After his death in 2007 his widow would often take solace in hearing his voice on her daily commute, sometimes just sitting on the platform at Embankment station, the last remaining station with his voice, listening to him. When his voice was replaced she asked staff why. They explained that the system was finally overhauled. She wrote a letter to London Underground requesting if it would be possible for a recording to be sent to her, in response a CD arrived before Christmas. But an unpublicized plan was completed on 7th March 2013; his voice was restored at Embankment station through the new system. It can still be heard today.
