Several of Ringo Starr‘s songs were written by John Lennon. For example, John wrote a terrible Ringo song about cooking. A notable bassist played on the track.
John Lennon wrote a silly Ringo Starr song called ‘Cookin’ (In the Kitchen of Love)’
Will Lee is a bassist who was part of the house band for Late Show with David Letterman. In addition, he played with all of The Beatles at different points. In a 2013 interview with Goldmine, he said his work with the Fab Four began with the 1976 album Ringo’s Rotogravure. Interestingly, Ringo’s Rotogravure was the final album to feature contributions from John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
“On the track that I played on, it was a song John had written called ‘Cookin’ (In the Kitchen of Love),'” Lee recalled. “John had already recorded his keyboard part, and so I never met him in person. But...

Fantastic Fest Awards Winners: ‘Piggy,’ ‘The Five Devils’ and ‘The Menu’ Take Top Honors (Exclusive)
Another Fantastic Fest is coming to a close, and we’ve got the full list of 2022 Fantastic Fest awards winners — including Searchlight Pictures’ upcoming release “The Menu.”
The film festival, held at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar in Austin, Texas, is one of the premiere genre film festivals in the country and has led to more acquisitions than South by Southwest, which takes place in Austin every spring. A joyful celebration of all things genre, this year was no different – with buzzy titles like Searchlight’s “The Menu” and MGM’s “Bones and All” playing alongside more esoteric fare like “Shin Ultraman.” There was even a high profile Marvel Studios premiere in their upcoming black-and-white Halloween special, “Werewolf by Night” (which really brought the house down).
“We really gave our jury members a tough job this year. We have no idea how they were able to choose between so many amazing films,...

In announcing the Feature Film Prize for the film, the jury said the following: “A socially relevant horror movie for modern times, Sylvia Caminer’s Follow Her features a completely unpredictable screenplay by star Dani Barker with a twist at the end that rivals The Sixth Sense. From China to Brexit, Screen gazes into its crystal ball…1. China
Odeon Holloway Road
From spectacular deal-making to expanding quotas, fluctuating box office to industry delegations, China was the biggest industry talking point of 2016.
The world’s most populated country now boasts more cinema screens than the Us (as of November) and is set to become the world’s largest box office territory by 2018.
Thanks to a number of eye-watering deals, Dalian Wanda – which in 2016 acquired Legendary Entertainment for a reported $3.5bn and Odeon & Uci Cinema Group for $1.2bn – now operates 8.1% of world cinema screens, representing 15% of total global box office.
The deals and opportunities look set to continue in 2017 with the evolution of quotas for Us blockbusters and more opportunities for arthouse films and the weekly emergence of notable media players. But will Us lawmakers flinch in the face of voracious domestic acquisition and will China’s box office growth hit a significant speed bump?

If you were to compile a list of iconic children’s TV characters, who would occupy a slot near the very top, say in the top five (to quote a recent Chris Rock flick)? Oh, we’re not talking about those denizens of “Toon-town”, so no Scooby Doo or Spongebob Squarepants. Well, at the dawn of the tube there was the freckle-faced marionette Howdy Doody and his pal/handler “Buffalo Bob” Smith. Then, as Mr. Doody hung up his strings, Bob Keeshan (a vet of that former show) arrived as Captain Kangaroo along with his real-life buddies (Mr. Green Jeans) and more puppet and costumed cast mates (Bunny Rabbit, Mr. Moose, and Dancing Bear). He was a TV mainstay for decades along with that gentle, soothing-voiced Fred Rogers and his puppet-filled neighborhood. Just a few years after his debut on PBS, a most influential classic educational kids’ program premiered on...

After a week of waiting for Big Brother‘s highly anticipated Rewind twist to be revealed to the houseguests, Wednesday’s live broadcast featured a whole lot of filler content, yet no real results.
That’s right: No one was evicted, no one was crowned Head of Household (yet) and no one could understand most of what Caleb was saying throughout the hour. But there are still some highlights to discuss, so let’s have at it.

“Oldboy” is a film that has been discussed several times over the past year or two. Attributes of the film–the fact that it’s directed by Spike Lee, that it’s a remake of Chan-wook Park’s film based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Nobuaki Minegishi–have been fodder for many articles. Will the film be good? Will Lee keep the original integrity of the film? How will Josh Brolin do in the title role? Well, those questions are still up in the air, but for right now, we’ve got the first poster from the film! Check it out below the post. Here’s more about the film: “Oldboy is a [ Read More ]

As people around the country and world struggle to understand the events surrounding Friday's (Dec. 14) elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, an old "Sesame Street" video seems to be helping. The short clip, in which Big Bird learns about Mr. Hooper's death, first aired in 1982. But it still feels meaningful after 30 years.
"Sesame Street" chose to address the issue of death when Will Lee, the actor who played the Mr. Hooper character died suddenly. Like many small children, Big Bird did not understand what death even meant. This became clear when the Muppet asked when Hooper was coming back.
"Big Bird, when people die they don't come back."
Of course, Big Bird didn't just accept this. Why should he when even the adults couldn't explain what happened and why he would never see his friend again.
As is often the case with kids, Big Bird's reaction focused on his...

Be prepared to justify Lee's decisions. That's the takeaway from "No time Left," the final episode of Telltale Games' "The Walking Dead," which concluded last week on the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Mac (the iOS version is incoming). More than any other game this year, "The Walking Dead" has not just been about player choice, but making players own up to those choices made for Lee, a convict-turned-caretaker for Clementine, a lost and scared little girl in the middle of a zombie outbreak. Throughout this season, players (as Lee) have had to make decisions that would guarantee to (or at least prolong) his and Clementine's survival in the face of other travelers, bandits, cannibals, and of course, the flesh-eating dead.
Which leads to the other takeaway from this final, poignant, heartbreaking episode: "Clementine will remember this."
****Spoilers after the jump****
At the conclusion of the last episode, Clementine was missing,...

The "Alphas" team have reunited, and it feels so good. Maybe not so much for C. Thomas Howell, the first of the season's all-star guest lineup.
Howell ("Southland") plays a desperate Alpha named Eli Aquino in "The Quick and the Dead," the second episode of the superheroes thriller's sophomore season. As you can see in the above clip, which is exclusive to Zap2it, Eli threatens Dr. Lee Rosen with a knife (David Strathairn).
Will Lee survive the attack? You'll have to watch and see.
"Alphas" airs Monday nights at 10 on Syfy.

While he has stayed relatively quiet since his 2008 failure Miracle at St. Anna, director Spike Lee is back in a big way as he has just revealed two projects, one huge and one more personal. He first tweeted early this morning the following message:
Wake Up. I been up since 430am. On the way to the set of The New Spike Lee Joint.Today is 1st Day of Shooting.Awwwwwwwwwwww Sheeeeeeeeeeeeet
Blackfilm clues us in on what it actually is, a drama in which he will reprise his famous character Mookie, from his iconic 1989 classic Do the Right Thing. Titled Red Hook Summer, “the story centers on a adult from Atlanta who comes and spends the summer in Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY.” He will be playing his pizza delivery character, but no word on what time period the film is set in, or who else is part of the cast.

I recently had the opportunity to read the fascinating book "Street Gang: The Complete History Of Sesame Street" by Michael Davis. It traces the origins of the groundbreaking children's show, as well as the backstage politics and issues that have surrounded the show since its inception. While enjoying this history, I couldn't help but notice some similarities between this show and the ABC soap General Hospital. It may sound strange, but let the evidence speak for itself:

Lee DeWyze couldn't reclaim the confidence he'd found last week.

Crystal Bowersox performs on "American Idol" Tuesday

Tuesday night's "American Idol" marked the beginning of the end of season nine, with Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze facing off in a three-round showdown. Ok, it was less of a showdown and more of a beatdown, with Bowersox easily handing DeWyze his hat. Although Lee was the favorite going into this week, his newfound confidence must have been left at the door of the Nokia Theatre. (Even the mice at the Nokia Theatre had to have been saying to each other, "What's this wimp's problem tonight?")
In round one, each contestant reprised an old "Idol" hit, but the rule was that they were not allowed to sing it as well the second time. (Kidding. Except I'm not.) It turned into a battle of the gibberish, and the...

Moments before the Top 10 took to the "Idol" stage to sing soul and R&B songs, an "Idol" blogger colleague messaged me on Twitter freaking out. "Gahhh! Jim, season nine needs to start getting serious. It's getting out of hand. Maybe tonight will be the night."
My reply?
"Well, it certainly can't get any worse."
On that note, let's get to the performances!

Song: "Through the Fire" by Chaka Khan
Verdict: Through the Ringer
Ever wondered what it would sound like if Marlee Matlin sang in a wind tunnel? You're in luck, because Siobhan Magnus' take on Chaka Khan's classic provided just that! Boys and girls, step right up and see the incredible shrieking shrinking woman! Marvel at how quickly the Queen of Quirk can become as boring and atonal as previous seasons' ear-terrorists Jasmine Trias, Ramiele Malubay and Carmen Rasmusen!

James Earl Jones is apologizing for running late. Calling from his upstate New York home, he explains that he was outside shoveling ice when he remembered he had an interview. "The trees are frozen solid," he says. "I can hear the limbs snap." That booming basso profundo, the gravitas he gives to each sentence, the way he accentuates the word snap -- you can almost feel the freezing wind. Without even trying, Jones is speaking poetry.Of course, the actor, who turns 78 on Jan. 17, is known for being much more than just a pretty voice. In more than 50 years in the theatre, he has tackled such classic roles as Othello and King Lear and created indelible characters like prizefighter Jack Jefferson in Howard Sackler's Pulitzer Prize–winning play The Great White Hope. His work in films ranging from the classic (Field of Dreams, as the voice of Darth Vader...
