Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown – the last Smackdown of 2022, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on the show!
Match #1: Solo Sikoa def. Sheamus The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the height of an explosive showdown pitting Sheamus against Solo Sikoa, interference from The Usos incited a brawl between The Bloodline and The Brawling Brutes outside the ring. During the bedlam, Sikoa overcame Sheamus with the Samoan Spike – a tribute to the late great Samoan Superstar Umaga. After the matchup, Ridge Holland & Butch were swiftly taken out of the equation, paving the way for The Enforcer to cause further damage on his defeated opponent with a steel chair. Before he could, though, Drew McIntyre suddenly reemerged on SmackDown and cleared the ring!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: SmackDown Women’s Title Match – Ronda Rousey def.

Hello, everyone! We’re back after a brief hiatus to give you a look at the horror and sci-fi headed home this week on home media. As it turns out, the month of August’s releases are starting off on a quiet note, as we have two titles getting the 4K treatment this Tuesday—Dario Argento’s Tenebrae and Flatliners from Joel Schumacher—and then a handful of indie horror arriving on both Blu-ray and DVD: Scream at the Devil, Paranormal Devil, The Farm, and Joker’s Poltergeist.
Flatliners 4K
Some Lines Shouldn’T Be Crossed.
Known for his impressively eclectic filmography and for helping to launch the careers of several young Hollywood stars of the 80s and 90s, Joel Schumacher tackles the existential question that, at one time or another, haunts us all: what awaits us after we die?

I really wanted to like Sword of Vengeance, I really did. Billed as “an almighty clash between Hammer of the Gods and Game of Thrones”, the film comes from the same people that worked on Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Valhalla Rising – to be fair that should have thrown up a warning or two given how much I hated that film – and tells the story of the Shadow Walker (Weber) who, cast out by the ruthless king, is searching for a new place to call home but clashes with many of the kingdom’s inhabitants along his journey. His story crosses paths with that of warrior Anna (Wallis) who, after the death of her husband, is called upon to lead her fellow Saxons into battle.

From the creator of Hammer Of The Gods, and starring Stanley Weber (Borgia) and Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), comes the medieval action epic Sword Of Vengeance, debuting on Blu-ray and DVD May 26 from Well Go USA Entertainment. First time feature film Director Jim Weedon was influenced by Japanese samurai epics and Italian spaghetti westerns for this action-packed film.
In 1066, following the brutal genocide ordered by William the Conqueror in order to control the unrelenting Rebels of the North, it’s a world of dark times and dark deeds. After years of slavery, a Norman Prince (Weber) returns to the lost lands to seek revenge on his father’s murderer by leading a band of farmers in bloody retribution. Rounding out the notable cast are Ed Skrein (“Game of Thrones”), Dave Legeno (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and Karel Roden (The Bourne Supremacy).

The latest clip from Rupert Sanders’ “Snow White and the Huntsman” finds the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) discovering just how special Snow white (Kristen Stewart) is. In a word: she’s The One. Kinda like Neo. Minus the black leather, cool shades, and bad attempts at “knowing kung fu”. Kinda the same, though. In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power. Also starring Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin,...

Having never been in a high security mental institution I can only imagine what the interaction between cook and patient really is. I keep thinking of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest… Nurse Ratchet. McMurphy. Chief. It would seem to me it’s a rather humorous place to be if you just take the Ken Kesey angle (until Billy kills himself… then it’s no fun for anyone). Maybe the institution of Asylum Blackout is more like Arkham Asylum from the world of Batman. Dark. Demented. The patients ready to get out and exact revenge, insanely, on a staff that cared too little. Mostly I think of the thorazine shuffle. I think of heavily medicated folks drooling on themselves meandering about their padded cell. With that in mind, when I tell you that Asylum Blackout didn’t quite do it for me, it’s not for the lack of...

Check out three new character posters for Rupert Sanders’ “Snow White and the Huntsman” focusing on the movie’s three main leads, plus a fourth poster featuring all three. You’ll notice the lack of Sam Claflin’s The Prince, which again makes me wonder if the Chris Hemsworth’s The Huntsman is the love interest to Kristen Stewart’s Snow White here? I guess we’ll find out in June. A “re-imagining” of the Snow White story, “Snow White and the Huntsman” finds an all-grown up Snow White fleeing from the murderous grasps of the Evil Queen, only to return with an army to take back the kingdom. All manner of sword-slinging, magic-casting, and Charlize Theron looking ridiculously hot ensue. The film also co-stars Ian McShane, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Ray Winstone, Dave Legeno, Edgar Wright, Lily Cole, Stephen Graham, Bob Hoskins, and Eddie Marsan. Saving the kingdom June...

Take a gander at a new clip from Rupert Sanders’ “Snow White and the Huntsman”, which appears to be from much later in the film. As in, probably the last few minutes. I’m frankly surprised they’re showing this. Usually studios don’t give away anything from the Third Act of their movies, and this looks exactly just that. The clip features Kristen Stewart as Snow White, all armored up for battle, facing off Charlize Theron’s evil Queen Ravenna. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman and Sam Claflin as the Prince are, er, otherwise occupied. Looks like the girls will have to settle this one! “Snow White and the Huntsman” also stars Ian McShane, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Ray Winstone, Dave Legeno, Edgar Wright, Lily Cole, Stephen Graham, Bob Hoskins, and Eddie Marsan. The grudge match goes down June 1, 2012. Get more images and videos in our “Snow White and the Huntsman” preview page.

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by IFC Midnight. Director: Alexandre Courtès. Writers: S. Craig Zahler, and Jérôme Fansten. Cast: Anna Skellern, Rupert Evans and Dave Legeno. The Asylum Blackout creates the right atmosphere for a horror feature. There are dark halls, mutilated corpses and the criminally insane hiding out in every dark corridor. The environment is chilling; yet, something is missing. The writing follows a linear structure with few deviations. This is director Alexandre Courtes' first feature with writer Craig Zahler also creating his first script here. So, understandably, the writing is cautious. The contradiction between the thrilling settings with the straight forward approach to writing still creates for an entertaining time. The plot structure is fairly simple. Three friends and bandmates work at the local Sans Mental Institution in Washington, State. Here, they feed the crazed and hungry. Then, the crazed feed on the.

Title: Asylum Blackout Director: Alexandre Courtes Starring: Rupert Evans, Kenny Doughly, Joseph Kennedy, Dave Legeno Part thriller of containment, part horror movie, “Asylum Blackout” is a skillfully cobbled together little calling card of a film, suffused with woozy dread.
