Sean Hannity, a well-known Fox News personality, has decided to sell his expansive Long Island property for $13.75 million, just months after he revealed his plans to relocate from New York to Florida.
Hannity announced earlier this year that he would broadcast his popular radio show, The Sean Hannity Show, and his television program, Hannity, from studios in West Palm Beach.
“We are now beginning our first broadcast from my new home, which is in the free state of Florida,” Hannity announced on his iHeartRadio show. “I am out. I am done. I’m finished.”
A limited liability company associated with Hannity purchased the waterfront estate for $8.5 million in 2008.
Located on nearly six acres in Centre Island, approximately 40 miles east of Midtown Manhattan, the property enjoys a prime location. Centre Island has attracted celebrities, such as notable residents like Billy Joel, who listed his property for $49 million last year. Joel’s...

Public radio program distributor NPR has suspended its business desk editor Uri Berliner over an editorial he wrote that was critical of the broadcaster and its former executives.
The suspension of Uri Berliner occurred last Friday, but was only made public on Tuesday after NPR revealed it in a news story on its website. The story was apparently with Berliner’s blessing, as he reportedly provided documents outlining the discipline to its media correspondent, David Folkenflik.
The unpaid suspension occurred several days after Berliner penned an essay for the Free Press, a Substack-distributed newsletter founded by former New York Times columnist Bari Weiss. The newsletter offers “investigative stories and provocative commentary about the world as it actually is,” and is often a haven for think-pieces from those who feel disenfranchised by the perceived progressive tilt of the American mainstream media.

The premise of "Air Force One" — President James Marshall (Harrison Ford) foils terrorists who hijack his plane, John McClane-style — requires national unity. The film calls for you to root for the president and only works if the majority of the audience (i.e. the U.S. population) sees their president as an unimpeachable good guy (pun intended). That is simply not the reality of America of 2024. "Air Force One" screenwriter Andrew Marlowe spoke to Syfy recently about why, to use the cliché, the film couldn't be made today.
"When we were doing it, the presidency and that position was not as politically charged as it is today. And so, I think that there are specific challenges about doing it in the contemporary climate that we would have to figure out."
Marlowe adds he'd only be interested in a follow-up if it reflected the world as is now: "Are we saying something new?...

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Outcast", the crew of the Enterprise aids a species called the J'naii in locating and rescuing a missing shuttlecraft. The J'naii are a genderless species, claiming to have evolved past specific gender identities. In their society, any expression of maleness or femaleness is considered darkly taboo, and gendered sexual contact has been criminalized. Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) spends a great deal of the episode working with a J'naii pilot named Soren (Melinda Culea) and the two bond. Soren will eventually reveal that she feels more female than genderless and that she is attracted to Riker. When Soren's gender identity reaches the other J'naii officials, she is threatened with the sci-fi equivalent of a conversion camp.
By today's politics, "The Outcast" feels clumsy in its attempts to discuss gender identity. It can, however, be commended for even attempting to tell a trans...

When Megyn Kelly launched a new podcast via her own production company in 2020, she feared it would have an audience of only two: her husband and her therapist. Three years later, her worries appear to have been unfounded.
In a sign of how her listenership has grown, she is extending a multi-year deal she has in place for the program to run first on SiriusXM — which has raised her visibility — that will keep her broadcasting “The Megyn Kelly Show” live on the company’s Triumph channel between noon and 2 p.m. eastern weekdays well through the 2024 election. Kelly expects to interview former President Donald Trump and play the exchange over the course of an hour on the September 14 edition of her program.
The situation seems to suit her. “I could never go back to having a boss. I don’t do well with bosses,” Kelly says in an interview with Variety,...

MSNBC’s Joy Reid took on two of Donald Trump’s most faithful scions Thursday in a segment for “The ReidOut,” saying threatening letters that Stephen Miller and J.D. Vance wrote to universities reflect an emboldened approach after the Supreme Court’s ruling that effectively struck down affirmative action in colleges.
Reid, in a conversation with activist and former president/director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Sherrilyn Ifill, drew a line connecting the language of the Supreme Court’s majority decision and the talking points of the late conservative radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.
Reid then pointed to what she called a direct outcome — letters that Miller, Trump’s former senior White House adviser, and Vance, the U.S. senator from Ohio who was endorsed by Trump, sent to law schools and top universities threatening them with repercussions if they attempted to subvert the ruling.

Fox News has settled on its new primetime lineup, promoting Jesse Watters to the 8 p.m. slot vacated by the abrupt firing of Tucker Carlson, pushing the “Gutfeld!” late-night juggernaut an hour earlier to 10 p.m. and putting Trace Gallagher to the 11 p.m. hour, the network announced Monday.
Also on the movie is Laura Ingraham, whose “Ingraham Angle” has solidly won the 10 p.m. spot since its 2017 debut, with a shift to 7 p.m. to kick off the weeknight primetime lineup, taking over Watters’ most recent start time. Fox did not announce who might take over the midnight hour that Gallagher will be vacating.

When Alex Jones picked up a call from Tucker Carlson’s number on Wednesday night, the conspiracy theorist and Infowars founder had what he would later call “one of the most bizarre” events of his life. “I was thinking we could do a show together where we’re topless and we suck each others’ nipples and sort of play with them a bit,” Carlson’s voice said. “It would be a comment on gender roles, sort of a funny parody thing.” While the conservative host has said some pretty wild...

This is a dark moment for frazzled members of the writing fraternity.
Picketers in Hollywood and New York fear a prolonged standoff gripping film and TV. Also troubling, their colleagues in digital media are patching together their résumés as Vice Media and BuzzFeed prepare for crash landings. Will others follow?
Even a digital zealot like Ben Smith sees the moment as “a humbling experience.” His new book, titled Traffic, vividly revisits the picaresque adventures of the “muckrakers, dweebs and wing nuts” who set out to revolutionize legacy journalism. Some became at once rich and unemployed.
The New York Times liked Smith’s book, even though he quit that paper to start yet another digital adventure called Semafor — its fate still to be determined.
Here’s the irony: While Smith and his social media colleagues are making lots of noise for their next adventures, their colleagues in film and TV are frozen in silence.

Right-wing Christians who claim to have “prophetic” insight into America’s “spiritual warfare” are declaring Fox News’ decision to sack Tucker Carlson a victory for Lucifer.
The religious clamor around the ousting of the conservative primetime host has provided further fuel as our divided country hurtles toward another combustible presidential election.
Lance Wallnau — promoter of a seven-part plan for Christians to capture America — filmed a live video late Tuesday night in which he denounced demonic mischief behind Carlson’s departure from the network. “The devil hates [him]” Wallnau said, because Tucker...

It's a busy world and people don't always have time to read anymore — or watch movies, apparently, since we're just coming off the worst Thanksgiving weekend in box-office history. But what if you could somehow combine the storytelling sensibilities of Jordan Peele with those of a fiction podcast, perfect for those who like to multitask? The answer is "Quiet Part Loud," a new 12-episode podcast starring Tony Award-winning actor and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts.
Co-produced by Gimlet Media and Peele's own Monkeypaw Productions, "Quiet Part Loud" dropped its full episode order in bulk on Spotify earlier this month. Peele acts as an executive producer for the series with Win Rosenfeld and Mimi O'Donnell, the latter of whom serves as director. The plot, per the official synopsis, involves a "disgraced radio host" who seeks to reinvent himself "by chronicling the cold-case disappearance of several Muslim teens from Staten Island — a...

Oliver Stone's 1988 film "Talk Radio" was based on the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play by Eric Bogosian which was, in turn, inspired by the book "Talked to Death: The Life and Murder of Alan Berg" by Stephen Singular. Set largely entirely in a recording studio, "Talk Radio" is about a call-in radio DJ named Barry Champlain (Bogosian) whose ratings have been rising thanks to his strident political streak of blustery misanthropy. Listeners call into his show to lambaste his horrible attitude, or to agree with his rejection of humanity. Most people call in to harass him and bicker. Some call in to directly threaten him. Near the start of the film, Barry receives a bomb threat.
Bogosian seemingly wrote "Talk Radio" as a criticism of the then-rising tide of Am radio hosts who were coming to express more and more extreme right-wing viewpoints. Barry, as it is said multiple times throughout,...

Chelsea Clinton has reflected on the challenges of growing up in the spotlight as the child of a sitting president.
The now 42-year-old daughter – and only child – of former US President Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton was 12 when she moved into The White House after her father was elected in 1993.
In the premiere of the eight-episode Apple TV+ series Gusty, which Clinton hosts alongside her mother, she is asked if she would ever consider doing stand-up comedy.
“I had a different experience with comedy in some ways than a lot of people, because I was made fun of so much as a child, by people who were professional comics,” she responds.
Clinton explained that comments made by conservative pundits like Rush Limbaugh were easier to brush off because they were typically aimed at her parents rather than her.

Update, 1:44 Pm: There’s still some stragglers like PBS to come in, but right now it looks like Joe Biden’s first State of the Union speech was watched by about 37 million people last night.
That figure comes from the addition of data from Univision (1.4 million), Newsmax, CNBC and Telemundo (1.2 million) to slightly tweaked results of earlier today from the broadcasters and the cable newsers. At this rate, Potus’ Sotu looks certain to end up with over 38 million viewers when all the outlets are accounted for.
If the final numbers for Biden’s speech show it in the 37 million range, it will comparable to the viewership for President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address in 2020, the last of his term. Fox News host Dan Bongino is not happy with the network after it edited a clip of a recent interview with former President Donald Trump, a move that sparked swift backlash from Bongino’s own conservative (and fiercely pro-Trump) fan base.
Bongino’s interview with Trump aired August 7. In it, Trump called the 2020 election he lost to President Joe Biden fraudulent and once again falsely claimed that he had won. The full Trump quote is as follows:
It’s a disgrace what’s happening, and I don’t think the country’s going to stand for it much longer, they are disgusted. You have a fake election, you have an election with voter abuse and voter fraud like nobody’s ever seen before, and based on that, and based on what happened, they are destroying our country, whether it’s at the border, whether it’s on crime, and plenty of instances,...

You have a fake election, you have an election with voter abuse and voter fraud like nobody’s ever seen before, and based on that, and based on what happened, they are destroying our country, whether it’s at the border, whether it’s on crime, and plenty of instances,...

Dick Farrel, a longtime conservative radio host from West Palm Beach, Florida, who was a vocal opponent of the coronavirus vaccine and vehement critic of Dr. Anthony Fauci, died Aug. 4 of complications from Covid-19, according to Wptv. He was 65.
After calling Fauci a “power-tripping lying freak” and urging people not to get vaccinated as recently as June, Farrel changed his tune after contracting the virus himself and entering the hospital roughly three weeks ago.
“Covid Took One Of My Best Friends!” his friend Amy Leigh Hair wrote on Facebook. “He is the reason I took the shot! He texted me and told me to ‘Get it!; He told me that this virus is no joke and he said: ‘I wish I had gotten it!'”
Farrel’s partner, Kit Farley, wrote on Facebook, “He was known as the other Rush Limbaugh. With a heavy heart, I can only say this was so unexpected.

Former president Donald Trump is totally buying into the idea that the National Security Agency is illegally spying on Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
In an appearance on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” — Fox’s replacement for Rush Limbaugh’s program — Trump said he thought there could be some truth behind Tucker’s seemingly madcap theories that the Nsa is monitoring his communications at the request of President Biden.
“I think it’s true. It’s totally believable,” Trump said of Tucker’s claims. The full clip of Trump’s remarks is available via Mediaite.
During a June 28 episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Fox News, Tucker said he has been tracked by the Nsa and also implied that other members of either the show or at Fox were being targeted.

“He told me he’s going to, and I think he will,” Donald Trump said today of Herschel Walker’s long-rumored bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Georgia in 2022.
“I had dinner with him a week ago,” the former Celebrity Apprentice host pontificated Tuesday on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, the recently minted radio replacements for the deceased Rush Limbaugh. “He’s a great guy. He’s a patriot. He’s a very loyal person. They love him in Georgia, I’ll tell you.”

Wavelength has a simple mantra — “tell great fucking stories” — but its intentions go much deeper than that. Founded in 2015 by Jenifer Westphal, the scrappy six-year-old company has been making waves with its mostly women executives developing a diverse slate of films that combine social relevance with compelling characters, while prioritizing first-time women directors and filmmakers of color.
At a time when Hollywood continues to struggle to find diverse talent behind the camera, companies like Wavelength provide essential case studies for how to lean into inclusivity from the earliest stages of the development process. Since its founding in 2015, Wavelength has produced over 30 feature films, curating a roster of award-winning, buzz-worthy titles including Sundance fare like Ekwa Msangi’s “Farewell Amor,” Jordana Spiro’s “Night Comes On,” and Tayarisha Poe’s “Selah and the Spades,” as well as high profile documentaries including Morgan Neville’s “Won’t You Be My Neighbor,” which...

Portland, Oregon — Official accountability for the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol is not coming quickly. GOP politicians who saluted, inspired, or even abetted the militants who stormed the Capitol chanting, “Hang Mike Pence!” have not been investigated. And Republicans in the Senate have blocked the formation of a bipartisan commission to probe that day’s dark events. In striking contrast, lawmakers in Oregon, from both parties, have moved decisively to expel a Republican state representative who literally opened the door for a group of armed protesters who...

Clay Travis and Buck Sexton have been confirmed as the permanent replacements for longtime conservative talk radio fixture Rush Limbaugh.
The duo will take over the daytime slot June 21, with plans to preserve it as a bastion of right-wing talk, albeit from a younger perspective. The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show, syndicated by iHeartMedia’s Premiere Networks, will air from noon to 3 p.m. Et on hundreds of radio stations across the country.
Limbaugh died in February at age 70, after wielding considerable influence in conservative circles for decades. Gaining traction during the presidency of Bill Clinton, he pioneered a brand of talk radio that proved enormously lucrative but also contributed to the political divisions in the U.S. Former President Donald Trump joined a number of Republicans in paying tribute to Limbaugh upon his death, though some outside the conservative establishment did not mourn his loss.

Fox News Channel, which has been reworking large parts of its programming schedule in the aftermath of the 2020 election, said it would launch new weekend programs hosted by conservative firebrand Dan Bongino and former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy.
Gowdy will host a 7 p.m. program on Sundays while Bongino will lead a 10 p.m. program on Saturday. Fox News said its “The Big Saturday Show” and “The Big Sunday Show,” which have been airing at 5 p.m. on weekends, will become a permanent part of the schedule. The programs will launch in hours that in the recent past have been used for repeats. As part of the programming changes, Bongino’s popular radio program, which airs on Cumulus-owned radio station during a time slot once occupied by Rush Limbaugh, will stream on Fox Nation, the network’s subscription-based video service.

President Joe Biden used the platform of a joint session of Congress to pitch and promote an ambitious agenda that includes massive infrastructure projects and an expansion of healthcare, education and worker benefits, all paid for by an increase in tax rates on corporations and high-income earners.
But the president also used his first speech before the House and Senate, restricted in size due to strict Covid-19 protocols, to take a victory lap on the eve of his 100th day in office.
“One hundred days since I took the oath of office, I lifted my hand off our family Bible and inherited a nation in crisis,” Biden said. “We all did. The worst pandemic in a century. The worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. The worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War,” a reference to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Fox News carried the speech live, but CNN and MSNBC did not.
The latter two networks covered Trump’s address: CNN had Jim Acosta and Donie O’Sullivan in Orlando, while MSNBC stuck with Al Sharpton’s regularly scheduled Politics Nation. In the span of just 13 minutes, the Oscar-shortlisted short documentary Hysterical Girl unpacks a lot.
The film directed by Kate Novack not only elucidates one of Sigmund Freud’s most famous case histories—on a suicidal teenage girl the psychoanalyst called “Dora”—but how Freud’s writing about her continues to impact our culture more than a century later.
“We have one foot in 1900,” Novack tells Deadline, “and we have one foot in 2020.”
The documentary draws a link between the Dora case and more recent examples of the reaction to women who have accused powerful men—Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein and others—of sexual misconduct or assault.
Novack observes, “I think it then becomes really hard to argue, ‘Oh, no, that’s the case from the past, Freud isn’t relevant anymore, we’ve moved on.’”

On Wednesday, conservative talk radio provocateur Rush Limbaugh died of lung cancer at age 70. At the end of his life, Limbaugh was one of former President Donald Trump’s staunchest supporters, and Trump rewarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020.
Trump called into Fox News to eulogize his friend – one of the first times we’ve heard his voice since he left the White House – and of course made it about himself, which Jimmy Kimmel found funny. On Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the host played a clip from Trump’s Fox News call, when the twice impeached commander-in-chief took a long digression from what he was supposed to be talking about to remind everyone that he won the election, by a lot.

Long-time listeners and supporters of Rush Limbaugh are likely mourning right now since the often controversial radio host has just recently passed away after a long and storied career on the air. Without attempting to offend it’s fair to say that Rush ruffled a lot of feathers throughout his long career, and he often did so on purpose until it came time to apologize, which even then didn’t feel like it was something he meant all the time since he had quite a few choice words for many people that he didn’t agree with over the years. On Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Kimmel was quite amused by Donald Trump’s tribute to right-wing radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, who died earlier in the day at age 70 following a battle with cancer. But, Kimmel said, Trump’s self-centered remarks were pretty much on brand for the disgraced former president.
When it comes to any subject other than his presidency Trump can’t help but steer the conversation to himself, Kimmel said, referring to an appearance by Trump on Fox News where he briefly addressed Limbaugh’s death, but then started repeating the same old lies about the 2020 election he used to incite the deadly Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6.
“After 27 days in hiding, Trump called into Fox News today — to talk about his friend Rush Limbaugh, who died. And what a beautiful tribute it was,” Kimmel said (with audible sarcasm) before rolling a clip.

Conservative media’s television trifecta is handing Donald Trump the spotlight the former Celebrity Apprentice host has clearly been mourning since leaving the White House last month.
After calling in on-air to Fox News Channel’s Harris Faulkner and Bill Hemmer earlier Wednesday to lament the death of conservative talk-radio kingpin Rush Limbaugh, the twice-impeached Trump has now set primetime appearances tonight on the Rupert Murdoch-owned cable newser, One American News Network and Newsmax.
The big stop will be with official best friend Sean Hannity on Fnc, but the growing rivals to Fox are also giving big draw Trump their key slots too:
#Breaking: President Trump will join me on @Oann in an upcoming interview on the passing of Rush Limbaugh. Stay tuned.

Rush Limbaugh never shied away from controversial comments and as such, “Saturday Night Live” seemed to never miss an opportunity to poke fun at him. The conservative and often polarizing radio host, who died Wednesday from lung cancer, has been impersonated over the years by the likes of Chris Farley, Dan Aykroyd and Taran Killam. For your enjoyment, we’ve rounded up all of the Rush Limbaugh sketches of “SNL” yore.
“American Sportsman Today”
On May 7, 1994, “SNL” great Chris Farley took on impersonating Limbaugh with John Goodman in a skit called “American Sportsman Today”. The skit depicted a show from the National Rifle Association “dedicated to the deadly art of hunting with semi-automatic weapons” and Farley, as Limbaugh, declared “it simply does not get any better than this!” after shooting numerous rounds of pretend fire at a deer.

When Rush Limbaugh, the Great Bloviater of the Am dial, signed off from the “Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies,” two days before Christmas, he warned the faithful in the raspy remains of his famous trumpeting baritone: “The day is gonna come, folks, where I’m not going to be able to do this anymore.”
For 13 terrible days in Trumpland — while the mad president that Limbaugh helped make possible was flailing for survival, while the faithful were trying to “stop the steal” of the election, and even while the Republicans...
