The title of this film, Superman Vs. The Kkk might be a little misleading, but I'm not the guy who came up with the title. Regardless, it still sounds like an intriguing story that will make a good movie.
The film is based on a book called Superman Versus The Ku Klux Klan: The True Story of How the Iconic Superhero Battle the Men of Hate. The book was written by Rick Bowers and the story chronicles "a former Klan member who goes undercover in 1947 Atlanta and works with the Anti-Defamation League and the producer of the Superman radio show." One of the film's producers Marc Rosen says:
“Fighting the forces of evil with brain over brawn, artists taking down bullies and the power of a good piece of content, it’s a real case of truth being cooler than fiction."
Even though the story doesn't really involve the character "Superman" fighting the Kkk,...

Partners to finance, sell project set in 1940s Atlanta.
Lotus Entertainment, PaperChase Films and financier and executive producer Marco Vicini have teamed up to produce Superman Vs The Kkk.
The project is based on the novel Superman Versus The Ku Klux Klan by Rick Bowers, which was inspired by a true story during the summer of 1946 that the producers describe as The Departed meets Mississippi Burning with a touch of American Hustle.
The story will centre on a klansman who went undercover in Atlanta for the FBI and combined with the efforts of the Anti-Defamation League and the ‘Superman Radio Show’ to take on the Kkk. Katherine Lindberg is adapting from Bowers’s novel.
Newly arrived Lotus producer Marc Rosen, who serves as executive producer on the Wachowskis’ series Sense8, and PaperChase CEO Dillon Jordan negotiated the deal with Lotus vice-president of acquisitions Daniel Brandt.
PaperChase, Vicini, and Lotus will finance and sell the film.

Taking a small break from his proposed "Hercules" film with wrestler Dwayne Johnson, Brett Ratner is trying his hand at science-fiction television again, this time working on a new project for ABC that could get a series order without even making a pilot. ABC has agreed to a script-to-series deal for "Tomorrow," about a time-traveling FBI agent in a project created by Katherine Lindberg and Ted Cyr. Ratner's most recent television directorial work was with the short-lived "Chaos" for CBS last year. He also directed the pilot for Fox's "Prison Break." He is, of course, probably best known for his Rush Hour movies with Jackie Chan, as well as directing the not-so-popular "X-Men: The Last Stand" in 2006. He created some controversy in 2011 when he was set to produce the Oscars in 2012, ...

A high-concept drama about an FBI agent in a “time travel scenario.” Feature film director Brett Ratner (“X-Men: The Last Stand”) and “Law and Order” producer Barry Schindel have teamed up to produce “Tomorrow”, a new time travel TV series for ABC. Created and written by Katherine Lindberg and Ted Cyr, “Tomorrow” is described as “a high-concept law enforcement procedural about an FBI agent who gets trapped in a time travel scenario.” Ratner would direct the pilot and produce, with Schindel staying on as showrunner. The show is still in its early stages, so we’ll see where it goes from here, if anywhere…...

Exclusive: Feature director Brett Ratner and Law & Order veteran Barry Schindel have teamed for Tomorrow, a drama project at ABC financed by Reliance’s Georgeville Television, the independent TV studio formed last spring by Motion Picture Capital’s Leon Clarance and Deepak Nayar and producer Marc Rosen. Like all Georgeville projects, Tomorrow, now in development, has a script-to-series commitment, meaning that if ABC likes the script it would trigger a 13-episode series order. Created and written by Katherine Lindberg and Ted Cyr, Tomorrow is a high-concept law enforcement procedural about an FBI agent who gets trapped in a time travel scenario. Ratner, who is set to direct, and Schindel, who serves as showrunner, executive produce with Lindberg, Cyr and Anonymous Content’s Michael Sugar and Nicole Romano. At ABC, Tomorrow joins another Georgeville project in development with a script-to-series commitment, a pandemic drama from Overbrook and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski.

The Palm Springs ShortFest has announced that highly-acclaimed writer/director Gus Van Sant will be presented with the ShortFest Spirit of Short Film Award as part of a special Directing Master Class presentation celebrating his work in film. A selection of his short films will be shown on Saturday, June 23rd at 2:30 p.m. with a discussion headed by Festival Director Darryl Macdonald. Van Sant, who earned Oscar nominations for "Good Will Hunting" and "Milk," was previously honored at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2009 when he received the Sonny Bono Visionary Award.
I personally salute the Palm Springs ShortFest. It is such a grassroots effort that honor the diversity and talent of many striving filmmakers. And most of the films shown move on to win Oscars such as "Freeheld" which won Best Documentary Short in 2008.
The Palm Springs ShortFest happens on June 19th to the 25th. For more details,...
