When I first listened to Tk from Ling tosite sigure , it was through Tokyo Ghoul ’s Op, “unravel.” I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this was many anime fans’ first exposure to the singer because it’s truly iconic. You hear him sing in that high-pitched voice of his, “Oshiete yo, oshiete yo,” the instrumentals kick in, and then you get goosebumps. I’ve said this about many other anime songs, but this one ends up on my karaoke list if I’m feeling brave or want to damage my vocal cords. Tk, or Toru Kitajima, is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter from the band Ling tosite sigure. He started releasing music as a soloist in 2011, and since then, he has left a major mark in the anime scene. His music style is an acquired taste for some, but for me who’s an emo at heart,...

Here, Tk from Ling tosite sigure talks about his experiences as a solo artist and being in a band, he shares his thoughts on expressing yourself through art, and more. Can you start by introducing yourself? Tk: My name is Tk. I'm the guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for the three-piece band, Ling tosite sigure. For my solo projects, I use the name "Tk from Ling tosite sigure." What is the difference in music style for Ling tosite sigure and Tk from Ling tosite sigure?...

His most recent “A Hacca Song” is the completion of an ideal trilogy, having in common with the previous two a sharp glance at the generational gap in China and the fast-growing divide between new China and old China.

Destiny Ekaragha (The End of the F***ing World) directs the Audible Original adaptation, which is described as staying “faithful” to the original text, while drawing in more of Winston and Julia’s romantic relationship. The Orwell Estate has authorized and endorsed the adaptation.

Get ready to say “Hi Mom.”
Sony Pictures has acquired the English language remake rights to the Chinese dramedy directed by Jia Ling. It is one of the highest grossing local films in history, making almost $850 million at the box office when it was released in 2021. The film, which was also written by Ling, became the top-grossing film ever from a solo female director, a feat only recently succeeded by Greta Gerwig and “Barbie.”
The original movie is set in 2001, when a young woman’s mother dies in a car accident. Grief-stricken, she travels back to 1981. Fearing that she had been a bad daughter, she looks to make her mom’s life as happy as it can be, including setting her up with a local factory manager’s son. It sounds very sweet.
In early development, Laura Kosann is adapting the screenplay. Kosann is a 2021 Academy Nicholl Fellow and has...

Lisa Ling has joined CBS News as a contributor across the network broadcasts and platforms.
Ling served as host and executive producer of This Is Life with Lisa Ling for CNN, but the show was not renewed last year as the network went through a round of budget cuts. The show explored issues like interracial families, sex trafficking and gun violence.
Ling also headlined the HBO Max documentary series Take Out, centering on Asian American history and cuisine.
Before CNN, Ling was host and executive producer of Our America for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN, and was host of National Geographic Ultimate Explorer. She previously was a co-host on The View and contributed to ABC News’ Nightline. She started in journalism as a correspondent for Channel One. Among other assignments, she covered the civil war in Afghanistan when she was just 21.
Ling will start on the network this summer and will be based in Los Angeles.

Lisa Ling has, over the course of her career, traveled to far-off places including Costa Rica and North Korean. Her next stop: CBS News.
Ling, who recently cut ties with CNN after the Warner Bros. Discovery-based cable-news outlet canceled her documentary program, “This Is Life,” will join CBS News as a contributor, says co-president Neeraj Khemlani. She is expected to debut on CBS News later this summer, and will be based in Los Angeles.
“If you look at her work over the years, she is really excellent at embedding with communities,” says the executive, in an interview. “You can only do that if you are afforded time and resources that fits with the kind of storytelling that we do.”
Ling is expected to contribute reports to “CBS Mornings,” the flagship A.M. program of the CBS broadcast network. During Khemlani’s tenure, the program has focused more intently on longer-form features and stories,...

In an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers, Bai Ling revealed what it was like working with Fox on set.
“I’ve always liked Megan, I think she just somehow appeared to me, very sexy,” she began. “You know, this beautiful sexiness, you know. She’s white, I’m Asian, almost kind of similar quality, like kind of outrageous, extreme, and sexy, talented, and beautiful. I think that, you know, that quality on screen is very important because it’s visual, you know. People like to see it, feel it, even though in the film you know, we work together, but physically we do not work together because of our schedule’s differences but it’s the magic of film that you just cut it together.

Legendary journalist Barbara Walters came up with a novel idea in the late 1990s: to create a talk show consisting of a panel of different women from different backgrounds to discuss the stories of the day. It eventually became The View, which launched on ABC in August 1997. But although she was the mastermind behind The View‘s creation, Walters was reportedly unceremoniously showed the door, just as several co-hosts have experienced over the years.

Though she’s a familiar name to kung fu movie fans, Angela Mao Ying has never had the crossover recognition of contemporaries like Bruce Lee and Sammo Hung. Perhaps this 50th anniversary reissue of two of her films will do something to address that.

In this, Mao plays Tien Li-Chun, who is on a mission of vengeance against Ling Shih-hua (Chang Yi), who she blames for her sister’s suicide. However, Ling Shih-hua is engaged in a battle with some local gangsters. Tien agrees to spare Ling, but only until he can kill Tung Ku.

Meghan Markle is back in her “Archetypes” hosting chair after the podcast went on hiatus following the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The new episode, which Spotify dropped on Tuesday, features actress, activist and comedian Margaret Cho and journalist Lisa Ling, who break down the archetype of the “Dragon Lady”, a prejudiced stigma many Asian women are forced to navigate — something that Markle admitted took her awhile to realize while growing up.
“Movies like ‘Austin Powers’ and ‘Kill Bill’ — they presented these caricatures of women of Asian descent as over-sexualized or aggressive,” Markle said, noting that both films are just two examples of “many” problematic portrayals.
“This toxic stereotyping of women of Asian descent… this doesn’t just end once the credits roll,” Markle added before welcoming Cho, who explained that the archetype stems from the “fantasy of Orientalism.”
