Establishing a shared cinematic universe is hard. Take Warner Bros. and DC's attempt at matching the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for instance. Though it had some commercial successes, the DC Extended Universe ultimately disintegrated over the course of several recent box office bombs that included superheroic flop "The Flash." Then, there was Universal, with its ill-fated Dark Universe, which would have seen updated takes on classic Universal monsters inhabiting a shared timeline that would ultimately lead to some sort of monster team-up. Unfortunately, the whole thing failed almost instantly with the disappointment that was 2017's "The Mummy."
Now, with the almighty MCU even struggling to maintain its dominance amid the deluge of "content" being pumped out in its name, it seems harder than ever to construct and maintain a successful shared cinematic universe. But that won't stop horror director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who is now threatening an entire interconnected...

Oh dear. The Poohniverse is expanding. Umbrella Entertainment has released the first teaser for the next installment of their B-movie horror franchise centered on horrifying versions of beloved children’s characters.
In the teaser for Bambi: The Reckoning, two hunters are seen practicing shooting in the woods with a dead bird tied to a tree. “You ever shot a deer?” one hunter asks the other. “No. Have you?” the second hunter replies. “Yeah, once,” the first hunter says. The teaser seems to imply that this hunter is the same one who killed Bambi’s mother.
The final shots of the teaser show a vicious and angry deer attacking a car. The vehicle turns completely over before the deer lets out a guttural roar. The main plot of the film is said to follow characters Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who are in the car wreck and...

To celebrate the release of Disney’s Wish, which comes 100 years after the company was founded in 1923, Walt Disney Animation Studios gave press an inside look at the place where the magic happens at its famous Burbank headquarters (yes, the one with the sorcerer hat).
As a part of the experience, select groups were treated to a private drawing class with Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay, production and costume designer on Wish, where they learned to draw the film’s character Star.
During the drawing class, Sastrawinata-Lemay explained how years of Disney Animation history went into the designs for every character and environment in Wish. “Star’s face shape is a heart, which is also inspired by the face of Mickey Mouse,” Sastrawinata-Lemay explained. “And you will notice Star does not talk and spreads magic dust, just like Tinker Bell.”

‘Development Hell’ is the metaphorical phrase used in Hollywood whenever a project gets cleared to be made by a big studio but then takes years (potentially decades) to make. Deadpool was a classic case of this and thanks to Ryan Reynolds and Marvel the movie has already become one of the greatest cult classics of all time. The Flash was another case, with the original idea for the film coming all the way back in 2014 – unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though The Flash will be making quite the same impact that a movie like Deadpool did.
Despite the negative feedback so far from audiences and critics and disastrous box office results, there’s no denying that The Flash has shaken things up a bit in the DC cinematic universe and has given fans a lot of questions moving forward. After all, the new Dcu headed by James Gunn is...

David Lowery is a square peg who refuses to let Hollywood fit him into a round hole.
In the 10 years since the filmmaker broke out with "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" (the 2013 romantic crime drama that /Film's review describes as "Cormac McCarthy by way of 'The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford'"), Lowery has gone from helming acclaimed high art indie dramas to earnest Disney films and dream-like fantasy epics. His latest offering, "Peter Pan and Wendy," marks yet another hard pivot for Lowery, bringing him back into the world of live-action Disney remakes -- sorry, re-imaginings, as the House of Mouse insists on calling them -- for a new take on J.M. Barrie's fairy tale that looks to bring something genuinely fresh to the oft-told story, which would be quite the accomplishment in and of itself.

Disney is, for many, a company that provides a great deal of entertainment through movies and TV shows, be it in a movie theater or from the comfort of home. But for a great many others, Disney is something to be experienced in a more tangible way, largely through the magic of Disney Parks, such as Disneyland or Walt Disney World.
Part of what makes that Disney brand of magic so, well, magical, is that its Imagineers never stop trying to innovate and bring the company's beloved characters to life in new, remarkable ways. At this year's SXSW, the Mouse House gave attendees a big, first-hand taste of what they're up to at a panel called "The Art & Science of Disney Parks Storytelling."
I was fortunate enough to be on hand for that panel, which also included a demonstration of a "real" lightsaber that was, in a word, mind-blowing. But...

Disney Plus has released a new trailer for its forthcoming Peter Pan movie.
Peter Pan & Wendy is a forthcoming live-action reimagining of the 1911 Jm Barrie novel and the 1953 animated classic.
It stars Alexander Molony as the mischievous young boy and Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling.
The new trailer – released on Tuesday (28 February) – begins with a distraught Wendy encountering the famous Lost Boys in Neverland.
Fans also get a good look at Black-ish star Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, and Jude Law as the villainous role of Captain Hook. The trailer teases action scenes, with plenty of sword fighting and flying.
Viewers, however, are complaining that the trailer looks too dark for a kid’s movie.
“Why is the movie so dark? Where are the colours? It’s Peter Pan, not a funeral,” said one person.
Alongside screenshots of some particularly dark scenes in the film, another added: “David Lowry is a solid director.

Another animated Disney classic is getting the live-action remake treatment and this latest adventure seems genuinely worth getting excited about.
“Peter Pan & Wendy,” which will debut on Disney+ on April 28, hails from co-writer/director David Lowery, the filmmaker behind “The Green Knight” and “The Old Man and the Gun,” and looks to interpolate both the 1953 Disney animated classic and the original J.M. Barrie source material. Watch the trailer above.
Originally announced in 2016, around the time Lowery was releasing his “Pete’s Dragon” remake theatrically, “Peter Pan & Wendy” is arguably the most exciting live-action adaptation of a Disney animated project in some time. The impressive visual sweep presented in the trailer (actual locations!) combined with the nifty modernization of some of the characters and settings, and the very committed cast (led by Jude Law as a snarling Captain Hook) make it seem like “Peter Pan & Wendy” will be a cut above,...

The first trailer for David Lowery's "Peter Pan and Wendy" is here, and it looks a hell of a lot more interesting than most live-action Disney remakes we've seen in recent years — not to mention most live-action adaptations of the J.M. Barrie classic.
Instead of going the star-studded, CGI-stuffed remake route that has been hit (see: "The Lion King") or miss (see: "Pinocchio") for Disney in recent years, the trailer for "Peter Pan and Wendy" spotlights a cast of young up-and-coming actors and visuals that look about as naturalistic as a story about a boy who can fly can be expected to. Sure, the fact that the first look at this movie doesn't take us to the uncanny valley might be a low bar, but "Peter Pan and Wendy" also has a great filmmaker going for it in "The Green Knight" and "A Ghost Story" director David Lowery.

When most unknown bands come over to America from England, they find themselves in a cramped bar playing to roughly 12 people only paying half attention. The floors are sticky, the bathroom makes the NYC subway look like Buckingham Palace, and they’re running their own merch table. Peter Pan, Wendy, and the Lost Boys are on a new adventure in the trailer for Disney’s “Peter Pan & Wendy.”
The first look at the upcoming film, which debuted at D23 Expo on Friday, opens with Ever Anderson as Wendy stumbling upon the Lost Boys — who are not all boys. When Wendy points out the discrepancy, she’s met with a sassy, “So?”
It isn’t long before Alexander Molony’s Peter Pan appears to whisk Wendy away. And, of course, it wouldn’t be “Peter Pan” unless the famous boy who wouldn’t grow up was being pursued by Captain Hook, played by Jude Law, who plays a pretty mean bad guy, guaranteed to make you at least a little uneasy. We also got a brief glimpse at Yara Shahidi, who plays a stunning Tinker Bell.

Of course, she thinks her luck might be changing when she encounters a talking Scottish cat (Simon Pegg) and follows him into the magical land of luck. Of course, nothing is what it seems and Sam could wind up turning both of their worlds upside down.

Yara Shahidi took a musical route to finding Neverland. The actress is set to play animation's most iconic fairy, Tinker Bell, in Disney's upcoming live-action Peter Pan & Wendy. And in order to get into the magical headspace, Yara focused on finding the right tunes. "I have these different Tinker Bell playlists," she exclusively told E! News' Daily Pop on July 22. "I'm literally just revving up to a shoot day—me moving around like I have pictured a fairy moves. And it was a little ridiculous, but you know, once you see it on camera, it looks a little less ridiculous." But before we see her Tinker Bell debut in the live-action Peter Pan...

A bit more video content has come out of this year's Afm, this time for the horror/comedy known as Dahmer Vs. Gacy, which promises to leave blood on the walls and laughs in your belly!
Foy first told us about this flick back in August (click here for that story). Here are a few more plot details: A secret government lab has been trying to create the ultimate killer using the DNA of infamous killers, but there's one big problem: They've escaped! Bloody mayhem stretches across the United States as they go on the ultimate killing spree. Trying to stop the maniacal madness is Ringo, a hick warrior being trained by God, using only a shotgun and a bottle of whiskey. In his road trip to hell, he must first fight off his own demons, not to mention an army of Japanese ninjas! It all leads up to the Ultimate Showdown!

Godzilla fought King Kong. Alien battled Predator. Freddy faced off with Jason. Mega Shark duked it out with Giant Octopus. Now we're about to get Dahmer Vs. Gacy. No, it isn't the ultimate Ulli Lommel crossover movie. It's a horror comedy that pits two of the most notorious serial killers of all time against each other and unscrupulous rogue military scientists. Set your taste buds to tasteless.
A secret government program is cloning infamous serial killers and genetically splicing their DNA into a super serial killer for undisclosed purposes. Ultra low budget indie genre movie mainstays Ford Austin and Randal Malone star as the resurrected Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy, respectively. Dahmer Vs. Gacy, also directed by Ford Austin, is slated to be the first of five underground Grindhouse-style films produced by Angry Baby Monkey Pictures. The film is currently in post-production and gearing up for select independent film festivals.
