Her husband invented the surgical stapler, the "K-pad" used for burn victims, the water-pressure-driven sump pump, and the electric hot dog grill.
"A Circle of Children" was based on her experiences as a volunteer at a private school for emotionally and psychologically-disturbed children. She had a private practice diagnosing and treating children with learning disabilities until she was in her 70s.
