The ale flows like there’s no tomorrow at Cologne, Germany’s All Bar One, a popular watering hole for hip city folk. Stephen Manuel (pictured left), director of the new horror film Iron Doors, eyes the Jameson whiskey, no doubt inspired by his background—he was born in Ireland and raised bilingually in Germany. He and Fango are raising glasses over the success of Iron Doors (see exclusive pics past the jump), which premiered recently at Estonia’s Haapsalu Horror Film Festival and is currently being sold internationally by Julian Richards’ Jinga Films distribution house.

The fifth annual Haapsalu Fantastic Film Festival has come to an end and I write this from the Tallinn airport lounge while massively sleep deprived. This proved to be a trip with minimal wifi - hence the lack of updates - but stacks of fantastic people.
After the previously mentioned kick-off - a zombie walk and an outdoor screening in the magnificent ruins of a 13th century castle - things got going in earnest on Saturday. The day began with a brief break from the dominantly hard edged horror theme with back-to-back screenings of Cory McAbee's stellar scifi cowboy musical Stingray Sam - which left me, once again, singing the theme song incessantly for the next two days - and Yoshihiro Nishimura's delirious splatter comedy Vampire Girl Versus Frankenstein Girl.
Swedish slasher Detour was an overly-familiar and weakly plotted bit of work saved - to the extent it...

While fans of Broken and The Devil's Chair director Adam Mason have been awaiting the arrival of his dark comedy Luster - a film that has finally completed a lengthy post production only recently - the director himself has been cooking up a little something on the sly.
Together with frequent collaborator Andrew Howard, Mason has completed an entirely different film during the waiting period for Luster. Shot on the cheap and on the sly, with any word kept carefully out of the press until the film was complete Pig is a grueling exercise in single take horror, a savage satire on American gender roles built around a lunatic central performance from Andrew Howard. With the run time dominated by a single 70+ minute take this is something entirely new from Mason, a technical experiment that builds on the themes and approach of his earlier work.
But where to see it?...

After a convenience store robbery goes awry, and a plain clothes police officer is shot, Nick (Cristian Solimeno) and Celia (Melinda Y. Cohen) find themselves executing a polite home invasion, in need of a new set of wheels. They hit a bump in the road when they discover someone home, a well kempt man by the name of Victor (Billy Zane), who claims to be the man of the house. After one of the residents inhabitants, Nadine (Scarlett Sabet) is discovered hiding in a closet, Nick and Celia begin to put the pieces together. Not long after, Nick discovers the mutilated remains of Nadine’s family in the house, and determines that Victor is definitely not what he seems to be. When the task force arrives, and the vengeance driven officer (Ken Bones) Roth (It was Roth’s son who was shot in the convenience store) assumes command of the situation,...
