- Additional Crew
Jimmy Marsland sang as a schoolboy with an amateur society in Cheshire,
later appearing as one of the "Stars In Battledress" during World War
II. After the War, he appeared in "The Dancing Years" and "Waltzes from
Vienna" before joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as a tenor
chorister in December 1949. There he stayed until March 1966 when he
joined the management of the Carte, acting as assistant producer,
whilst remaining in the chorus, and occasionally appearing in the small
part of Annibale in "The Gondoliers", the Associate in "Trial by Jury",
a Marine in "HMS Pinafore", Hildebrand's Chamberlain in "Princess Ida",
and the Solicitor in "Patience". Even after leaving the chorus, Jimmy
still occasionally appeared in these roles and 'filled in' on occasion
when the chorus was depleted by illness. Marsland remained with the
Company as its assistant producer until its last night on February 27,
1982. In later years he produced some amateur
productions.
